He's starting to lighten up on that as he grows older though! He can't be bothered to care for those outside of his family, usually acting cold and stern with them, especially so with foxes that aren't part of Bamboo.
While cold towards strangers, Shukaku is friendly as can be when it comes to his family, especially with Krysten and the grandkids. Except for Johnny, he doesn't like his son-in-law at all. Okay, maybe a... little. Kind of. Sort of. He's trying not to be such an a** towards Johnny now! Keri and 'Ette are doing a pretty good job at nagging him about that. It probably helps that he's a total sucker for his granddaughters. As far as his sister and her mate go? It's an entirely different story. Like most siblings, he'll love Kaia one moment and then find her extremely annoying - she's so happy all of the time! - the next. Your typical love/hate relationship. And all of those nieces and nephews are... alright. He likes them well enough. But Koji? Shukaku does not like the male and won't hesitate to voice his opinion on that. He honestly wouldn't mind of his brother-in-law dropped off the face of the earth.
Shukaku's life was definitely shaken up when his mate and a bunch of others in the tribe went missing. He, uh, didn't handle it in the best way, just stuffing away his feelings on all of that nonsense and keeping his head up. He has pretty bad nightmares sometimes about what might have happened to them, but... Y'know, life goes on. He doesn't want to trouble anyone with that s**t, especially his kids.____________________________________________________________________________history: Life has always been a bit.. uh... hectic for Shukaku. After being ditched by their parents, he ended up losing his younger sister, Kaia. While searching for her, he met Shiranui and her brothers, Kure and Panda-chan, and ended up hanging out with the trio on and off during his childhood. Like all foxes, he grew up, meeting up with Shiranui and her brothers again and again. He and Shiranui grew pretty close as friends and ended up becoming mates after a time. The trio eventually asked him to help start up Bamboo. Who was he to say no to his best friends?
Soon after that, Shu ended up bumping into his sister again! Kaia decided to stick close by the tribe to keep in contact with her brother. Shiranui soon grew jealous of Kure and Panda-chan having children, wanting kits of her own. Wanting to be the best mate in the world, Shu... uh, helped her out with that problem. The two ended up having six kits! Shukaku stumbled upon Krysten a little after that, deciding to take the BCR back to Shiranui and raise it with their own. Life in the tribe was normal for a good while, though there was a close call with a bobcat and a bunch of the tribe's kits at one point. His kids grew up, Krysten found a mate - omg no why his baby giiiiirl - in Johnny, and he had to resist the urge to murder Koji for whisking his sister away.
His mate and a large amount of the tribe went missing one day, which led to him becoming pretty depressed for a time. But he stuffed away the emotions and carried on, still having family and everything to look after. Shu managed to... er, somehow become a grandfather after two of his sons had flings. And then poor Bamboo slowly started to fall apart, which... honestly made the whole "cope with having your mate and best friends going missing!" thing really ******** hard.
However, there's always some good after the bad! Johnny and Krysten ended up having three daughters, and Shukaku was more than happy to gush over them. She loves kids, adores her family, and pretty much loves everything you throw at her. It's difficult to hate things when life is going so well! Family means the world to her, so she decided to settle down at once when she found her brother again. The silly vixen also makes a point of smothering Shukaku with affection, trying to make up for the childhood they didn't have together. He find it.. uh, extremely annoying, but she could care less! Alright, Kaia cares a little and doesn't mind toning it down when asked.
She also loves to travel, so used to it that she often goes off on her own without a word. This... obviously causes some problems. It's hard to kick that bad habit, but she's trying!____________________________________________________________________________history: Unlike her brother, Kaia's life has been full of fun! Well, that's how she likes to put it. Sure, it was scary at first, wandering around without Shukaku. But she became used to it and didn't mind being lost. In fact, being on her own simply meant that she could do more. She discovered that she liked - no, scratch that, loved to travel. So she kind of just... kept walking and running and enjoying things as she went! She had a few short-lived romances during her travels, but all of them ended in disappointment. Kaia eventually ran into her brother again, deciding to live on the outskirts of his tribe to keep in touch.
And then she met Koji. She fell head over heels for the male rather quickly and the two ended up becoming mates. They had a pretty... interesting meeting with her brother and three of his kids. Koji and Kaia then had four kits a little while after! They decided on raising two kits each, two sticking around Bamboo with their father and the other two remaining outside of the tribe with their mother. After they grew up and everything was settled down, Kaia decided it was time to stretch her legs and go on a nice trip!
So used to being on her own, Kaia.. uh, totally forgot to tell Koji she was going on said trip. Kaia traveled happily on her own for a small time, all the while oblivious of her mate and the depression he fell into. When she returned home, things were... awkward, to say the least. The two patched things up, Kaia promising to give a little head's up before ever going off on her own like that again. Two more kits ended up joining the family after that!
And then another surprise!
