With an extra push, he knocked the bandit backwards. Without wasting another moment, Oujay lunged forward with his blade towards the stumbling bandit and quickly ended his life. Taking a couple a steps back, he pulled out his sword from the brigand body. As the body fell limp to the ground, it revealed another enemy quickly closing in, wasting no time at all. Not good, not good at all. The hero wasn't fully prepared for another clash so soon and he quickly tried to raise his shield to defend against the incoming impact.
Luckily, before he reached him an arrow quickly zipped through the air and took out the bandit. Oujay looked over to where the arrow had come from to see Sue had been there to assist him. Having Sue here to back him up in this fight made Oujay a bit relieved in this skirmish. Her Bow was definitely something he could trust his life on.
"Thanks Sue, It seems my life has been saved by your bow once again."
As that was said, Roy suddenly arrived at their position and relayed orders to Sue. Oujay quickly spotted an incoming bandit as that happened. One of the bandits was charging straight towards Sue. Oujay quickly stepped in front of the bandit and intercepted him with his own blade. The blow was a lot larger than he anticipated and it caused the blue haired swordsman to stumble back a couple steps.
"Roy's right," he stated as he continued to struggle against the bandit.
Using his blade, Oujay guided the axe towards the ground and away from his body. Bringing pulling his blade back up towards the sky, it grinded against the handle of the enemy's axe and sliced across the open torso of the bandit. He took in a deep breath, but his chance to relax a little was gone as an arrow quickly zipped past him and narrowly missed the swordsman. He quickly brought up his shield and kept an eye out for more incoming bandits and arrows.
"Sue, We'll be fine." he assured as he raised his shield to block a lethal arrow hit.

Well well, seems like they had themselves quite a handful. Thankfully Venetia carried a spare heal staff with her should anything happen, It hung on the side of her belt like a sword and then a couple of Elwind tomes were in her bag, this was their assignment and they were required to fight. The wind sage listened carefully to Innes's orders since he was the one in charge. Assist anybody who needed help hm? Real life combat, let's see just how well she does outside of her training field.
Venetia turned her head to the new recruit, Julia. She had a point on the sage being trained on the horse, it wasn't like she planned on riding it into the heart of a battlefield. She reached behind her and pulled out one of her tomes then threw herself off the saddle of the horse, landing on the ground before taking off ahead. Julia said she would back her up so Venetia could do nothing but trust in Julia's abilities as well as her own.
Throwing open the book, Venetia stopped in her tracks and drew a quick seal, pushing back a bandit that stood before her. It wasn't enough to kill him since he still advanced toward her. She stepped back, taking the moment to dodge the upcoming axe that came hurling down toward her. Venetia stepped to the side just in time and well...since he was this close...The sage quickly shut her tome and smacked the guy right in the face with all the force she had in her body just to hear a slight crack from the man. A broken nose perhaps? Well, she should probably take this chance to finish him then. She took another step back. "Out of my way!" another magic circle, whirlwind to the bandit and he was finished. Venetia turned back, making sure David was all right. It was her duty to stay with him after all....and she'll try not to scare the poor timid Nomad this time. (( I've been gone all weekend so if I missed something, do let me know v_v;; ))

The road blockade was an obvious trap, or at least seemed like one to the skeptical Amon. So many trees could not fall like that naturally, and even if he was overanalysing, Amon would not take the risk. Lord Khayri had spoke the truth; low-end bandits were far too predictable. Amon had not moved far from the wagon, instead opting to survey his surroundings and take his steel lance from the wagon. He was going to take a javelin from the wagon when...
...!
It took a burst of willpower and a deep breath for Amon to peel his gaze away from the huge dragon that had erupted forth in their presence. He hadn't thought it was possible for something so enormous to show up so quickly... And what a fierce force it was on the battlefield! Perhaps it would have been a good idea to speak to their traveling companions before they all took the field together... Wait! No! Amon can't afford to waste any more time on the subject! Precious seconds had gone by already, and someone could be aiming at him! There could be an arrow poised at his head right now!
He took the javelin from the wagon and dashed forward into the fray, intending to focus primarily on the bandits that had jumped from the brush on the side of the road. While he knew they could fend for themselves, Amon couldn't help but travel and battle closer to Lord Khayri and Ramla, and fight with them as he was more used to doing. As well as far more comfortable with. But the archers were what needed to be dealt with first. Amon took up his Javelin and aimed it at an archer who had kept his footing. He had managed to dart out of the way fast enough for an arrow from his appointment to glance off his armor. He re-aimed his javelin and shot the unfortunate archer down.
When he heard Ramla shriek, he instinctively whipped his attention over to her position, ready to charge in and rescue. But his worries were assuaged, as she cut the bandit down from where she was with her already prepared spell. Of course she could protect herself. He shouldn't underestimate her... But he wouldn't let anyone take advantage of her as she prepared more spells and recovered from the fall.

Bandits. Oh joy. David took a deep breath to steady himself. Think of it as target practice, he reminded himself. And they've taken one of ours--we need to get her back. David had his orders: stay with Venetia, assist those who need it, mind the archers (oh JOY), and don't die. Simple enough. They raced toward the ambush site and--
OH GODDESS THAT WAS A DRAGON. AN. ACTUAL. FLUXING. DRAGON.
Goddess above, they do exist! David thought. However, this one was attacking the bandits.
. . . Panic later, help now. Just--stay clam, stay calm, stay with poke girl--
Sophie reared, delightedly stomping on a bandit that had gotten too close. She whinnied happily; David shook his head at her antics. Fortunately for his, she was doing exactly what he had trained her to do, and she had certainly not panicked. David turned to find Venetia; the poke girl had already dispatched one opponent. He nodded at her look.
Time to get to work, he sighed. He reached around, took a tome from his saddlebag, flipped it open, and began chanting.
A moment later, an axe fell to the ground, its owner nothing more than a pile of dust.

O Father Sky, Mother Earth... I pray that you give me strength. ↣ ↣ ↣ {Sue} ↣ ↣ ↣ ⇘xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx⇙ The words of Sue's general, Roy echoed through the battlefield toward her. Was she already so caught up in the fight that she didn't notice Rath needed backup? The nomad trooper took one worried gaze toward Oujay and Roy, but they said they had their front of the battlefield in check. "I'll trust you both to watch each other's backs, General Roy and Oujay. Good luck." She said to them. Sue gave the two men a grin before she whipped her horse into action.
Arrows raced by as she rushed beside Rath on the battlefield. Ducking, she managed to just barely avoid one of them. "Father, are you all right?" She asked him. Her voice was slightly concerned. She wasn't too worried though, because he wasn't injured.
"None of us can afford to get exhausted this early on in our journey though." Sue thought as she aimed up high at a sniper. His quick shots were likely the ones that were giving so many of the others trouble with arrows. It seemed like that he was just out of Rath's range, but if Sue could manage to at least distract the sniper with a stray arrow, he would close in where it was easier to attack. Letting an arrow fly, she got the bandit sniper's attention all right. A barrage of arrows flew in her direction. Carefully stepping back, Sue took aim again. Even if this shot from her light and fast short bow wouldn't do the trick, Rath's back-up would surely finish the job.⇗xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx⇖ ⋙═{Nomad Trooper}═⊲ The path ahead shall not be easy, but I must proceed!

After the dragon transformed and decimated a chunk of the hidden archers with a single swing on his tail, Celso hung back, barely managing to keep control of his bladder. They weren't prepared for this. The company consisted mostly of other-worlders, it wasn't some small squad of lowly ranked soldiers like they thought. "Damn guild... no wonder Baba didn't make it." he grumbled. Well, they were in deep now, but they weren't done for. It was time to use the guild's motto against them. Celso nimbly darted over to the wagon and jumped up behind Leena. He swung his dagger around her body and held it up to her neck as he grabbed her left arm and twisted it behind her back with his other hand. He held her closely against him and leaned in to whisper in her ear. "Whoops. I guess yer friends didn't cover yous good enoughs." He chuckled and looked up. "Hey, dragon! If ya don't wants nothin' to happen' to this pretty little face, see, you'll untransform rights now!" He glanced to the side. "And don't thinks I don't sees you back there, ya arrow-slingin' savages! Yous can drop your weapons too, yeah!" He looked all around. "In fact, why leave anybody out? Why don'ts all a yous drops yer weapons, too, see!" he called out loudly to his enemies. Two bandits who had stopped to listen to Celso looked at each other, shrugged, and then dropped their axes. Celso glared. "Nots yous, the guild members, huh! G'raid the wagon and takes the the loot back to the fort, ya idiots!" As they went to work, Celso rolled his eyes back and tightened his grip on Leena to prevent her struggling. "Nuh uh uh, little lady! Don't worry, I'll takes good care a yous... s'long as yer friends don't try nothin'." He looked up at the fire dragon again with a devilish grin. "S'what's it gunna be, shifter? Is it true that together ya ride...?" (consulted with Sue before doing this)

Ignis Draconis sum. Thema fabulae, thema apologi.c** igne sacrō, Flametongue, (prō amicīs pugnō) prō pace volō. Miliibus annīs supervivē, cicatricēs temporis possideō. Mirate corpus meum, pinnās meās, ignem meum! Fire Dragon By this time, FD had killed a lot of bandits. And some of his claws looked like they had a red ombre-effect manicure. From the blood, of course.
And then the brash little leader of this group of bandits managed to get a hostage. A very bold move, gambling on the guild’s reputation about caring for each other, demanding that the dragon transform back into his human form, and that everyone drop their weapons. Oh, the shade, the shade of it all!
FD had never even spoken to this girl once. But he did know of her; her reputation as a businesswoman who catered her wares largely to the guild preceded her. Damnit, that bandit put them in a tight position. The dragon turned around to stare down Celso. He rubbed two of his claws together, flicking blood off of them and making a sharp, blade-ish sound. FD then unleashed a short-lived Flametongue into the air above the bandit and roared directly at him, before staring down the bandit to prove a point to the Thief: I can kill you so easily, if I want to. It was, to quote a certain series mercenary, a “Just remember, if that happens, you die next” moment.
The Fire Dragon wouldn’t, in fact, kill him while he held Leena hostage, but he first wanted to bluff his poker-face. Bandits are notoriously selfish, caring only about themselves first. Celso could probably care less if any of the bandits he was in charge of died. But his own life was being threatened now, which was almost assuredly the only one Celso gave a ******** about.
The dragon’s intention was to scare Celso into leaving and releasing the hostage, which would also possibly buy time in case anyone else had something up their sleeve. If it didn’t work, fine, FD would untransform. But he was hoping Celso wouldn’t figure that out. Bandits aren’t the brightest out there. FD took a mental note to apologize to Leena for putting her through this later.

Regulus
Regulus continued his, admittedly rather foolhardy, charge cutting down several bandits before he was nearly hit by a sword wielding bandit. He exchanged a few blows with the man before stabbing him in the throat and moving on. "Come at me ye cowardly curs! I'll kill all of you bloody bandits! Yaah!!!" He yelled as he charged at a panicking axe wielder with his bloody sword waving in the air. Just before he ran down his target he pulled up as he noticed that people had stopped fighting and were looking towards the wagons, even the humongous dragon. "Lay down my arms? Who does this outlaw think he is ordering us to lay down our weapons?" Then he noticed that the thief had a knife to Leena's throat and his eyes narrowed in rage as he gripped the hilt of his sword so tightly that his knuckles turned white. "Threatening a woman? The cur has no honor!" He spat on the ground at this last bit.

Leena watched as the battle raged on. Everyone seemed to be doing well against the bandits so far. There was nothing to fear, or so she thought. As she gripped her hammer in preparation for another frontal attack on the wagon, Leena focused intently on the fray before her. She was prepared to get vulneraries for anyone who needed it. Even the presence of the large, fire-breathing dragon wasn't enough to keep her from her important duties.
But her chance to help out on the field never came. She felt someone seize her from behind. Leena struggled against his grip, but he was too strong. Her hammer had dropped to the floor the minute she was captured. "You... you blackheart! Unhand me at once!" She shouted as she tried as hard as she could to wriggle out of his grip. When he ordered everyone to drop their weapons, she wondered what they would do.
She cast a gaze toward the fire dragon that was part of their forces. Her eyes widened, her heartbeat racing as the large red fire-breathing dragon opened his mouth. "Oh Goddess! What is he doing?! A...am I going to be caught in his fire?! I thought the guild's motto was together we ride! I know we cannot surrender here, but I thought they would help me out...!!!" She shut her eyes as the flametongue's small burst came toward her. Her eyes were spouting tears, expecting to get engulfed in a wave of fire.
But the flametongue was small. It was small enough to miss her, but still enough to make a threat to the one who was holding her hostage. That still did not allay her fears. Leena was quivering. She thought she was going to die! If one of the others, any of the others acted fast though, she would probably be safe.

"He's gone ahead. Most likely to confront the bandits and do some scouting. I don't get a lot from him in the way of what he's going to do. It irks me to no end."
And then he stood their doing nothing.

"You ask why do I not talk much?"_______←« _____ ←« ____ ←« ___ ←« __ ←« _____"...Because there is nothing to say."Rath ------------ "I see..." Rath muttered. All he needed to hear was that Lance had gone ahead. It meant he was continuing with the mission while the rest of his team went after their captured member. It was professional. "Good."
Then his daughter rode up to him, keeping true to allowing him to see that she was safe. "Yes, let's keep-" And that was when he heard the bandit and saw that Leena was his hostage. Before Rath could pull out an arrow, the bandit had spotted him and told everyone to lay down their arms. As much as Rath wanted to fire, it would be too dangerous a shot and he couldn't risk Leena's life; she was too valuable. The fire dragon's response was suitable and better yet, Rath noticed how much attention the bandit was giving his front with the dragon there and thus little to his back. He glanced around to gauge everyone's positions, enemies included. If he could keep the bandit's attention, there may be a chance for somebody to act.
"Fire dragon, would you please revert...?" He finally said. First things first, stall for time by appeasing his demands, then just keep doing what you have to in order to provide distraction. He then set his weapons down, dismounted, raised his hands and calmly walked in front of the dragon to face the bandit holding Leena. "I am Rath, guild vice captain and commander of this company. The woman you have is but a shopkeeper. You want a hostage? I propose an exchange; me for her. I am much more valuable than she is." Not to mention he could likely handle himself better. "You have only to gain from this." Hopefully he could keep talking if he needed to.

Mirate corpus meum, pinnās meās, ignem meum! Fire Dragon Stall for time with the hopes that someone else would have an ace in the hole, if not scare Celso into releasing Leena through sheer intimidation; that was the idea. This Thief wasn’t about to relinquish his hostage it seemed, but FD staring him down had kept Celso in a deadlock for a while at the very least. And sure enough, Rath seemed to have something in mind. "Fire dragon, would you please revert...?”The Nomadic Trooper proceeded to place himself between Celso and the Fire Dragon, unarmed, and offer himself as a hostage in exchange for Leena. Hardly what anyone was expecting, surely, but it was keeping Celso’s attention and buying more time. Rath would know what he was doing. Okay, this might work. Although he was hesistant about the notion, FD went into his human substitute form. His arms folded, he continued to stare at Celso, a severe look on his face, so as to have the Thief keep in mind he was still there, and could always transform back into his big, Flametongue-breathing self.

Marina's presence in this battle was never a thing that stopped being so. When the ambush started, she immediately fell back to a solid vantage point. As she swept from the front of the pack to the back, she elbowed one bandit in the nose, grabbed him, threw him directly into the path of a brigand charging for her, and followed that up with a swift kick to the face.
All according to plan.
She scooped up the fallen axe and intrepidly kept upon her path, approaching the wagon. She held the axe in such a way over her head that it would hopefully deflect any arrows that came for her head, and she kept moving in an erratic fashion through the carnage so that it would be difficult to lock upon her. She twirled her lance in the other hand, creating a whirlwind of terror between the two icy blades, and did not hesitate to bash the shaft with significant force into anyone who got in her way. Marina snuck towards the rear of the wagon, the twirling of the lance easily deterring any nuisance, and once back there she took the axe and in a swift motion dug it firmly into one of the wagon's rising supports. She holstered her lance, leapt up using the axe for leverage, and fell onto the top of the wagon where she then crept forward over the fabric.
As she eased towards the front, her target came into view, and he was so fixated upon the dragon in front of him that he, nor were any of the other bandits, really focused on anything else. This was perfect for Marina, because at this point she really could just drop down behind him. And she did this by throwing her feet in front of her and landing neatly upon them, and before Celso could react she grabbed his knife wrist with one hand and wrestled it from his grip while she slipped her other arm under and locked his arm to his back. Marina shoved Leena away while doing this, but not so far as to knock her off the platform, and as she held the struggling Celso in an easily throwable pose, she grinned at the fire dragon.
"Hey, dragonguy, you hungry?"

"Always remember that the future comes one day at a time." Leena ◆ Smith Things were taking a turn for the worse. Not only had the Fire Dragon unleashed his little fire and scared the poor merchant half to death, but now Rath, the one who had spearheaded this whole operation was offering himself as a hostage instead! "No, sir, please, you mustn't!" she begged him.
But even FD backed down and transformed back into his human-like form. What were they doing? "I...I cannot believe this! I came here to help everyone, and now I'll put our mission at risk because I managed to get in enemy hands! I knew it. I should have never left the shop. This was such a big mistake!" Leena thought as she watched the scene unfold.
But like a phantom, Marina struck from the shadows. The lady halberdier had caught Celso completely off guard, holding the man in a deadlock and forcing him to let her go. The merchant stumbled forward when she was shoved away, but Leena quickly regained her balance. "You'll pay for laying your hands on me!" she shouted. Shortly after, Leena delivered a swift kick between Celso's legs, hitting his weak spot as hard as she could. That was sure to incapacitate him.
The merchan broke into a run after delivering the critical blow, darting behind Sue and Rath. On the way she managed to pick up the hammer that she had dropped earlier. Standing by her comrades in FEF, Leena tried her best to have a fearless stare, but on the inside she was still shaken up by the whole ordeal. Her gaze fell on Marina, who'd come forth to get her out of her bind. "You have my thanks." she said, nodding toward her.Learania's ◇ Merchant "And never forget that even the smallest role can make a difference."

Out of nowhere, the situation changed in the blink of an eye. There was nothing Celso could have done, not when the person appeared so suddenly and had speed to match his own. Even worse was the embarrassment that the one who got the drop on him was a girl. It didn't matter how he struggled, she knew what she was doing. The next thing he knew, the caravan girl had come at him. His eyes widened and his legs caved beneath him. "...Y-you... biiiitch...!" he squeaked in a suitably higher voice. His eyes watered and he groaned as he slumped within Marina's grasp. Growling as he fought the pain, he discretely pulled one of his throwing knives out with his free hand and quickly stabbed at the arm around his head. He then pulled forward and staggered off the wagon. He looked around and saw that a number of his group had already headed back to the fort with their loot. With all that was left, he suddenly felt very... small. He realized he needed to try and get away. After gulping, he threw the knife at the dragon to distract him and began to sprint off.
