Janis froze. "Harboring? Just because they don't like you doesn't mean...." she trailed off as it suddenly hit her. Why he had seemed familiar. He was on several wanted posters in town. She let him go and wiped her hands off on her shirt. She grabbed her bag and handed him the book. However she didn't let go right away. "Don't go into town." she said. "If you ask me, you don't seem the type to do ill. To me or anyone." Her gray eyes were oddly intense, almost glowing. "If you must go, turned right. Away from Dunsworth and on to Fenworth. It's probably a week away if you follow the sign and stop reading while you walk." Janis let him have the book. "If you ever need sancutary, my house it open. I'm not as closed minded as most people." Janis looked away, her eyes their usual dull gray. She blushed and pushed a stray black hair behind her ear. "Thanks for your help."

Cornelius took the book into his hands carefully and hid it under his cloak. "Yes, I'm the person on the wanted sign, but I didn't think Fensworth was that far. I might have to stay the night if you really think it's a seven day walk and I hate to say this, but the pink blush I'm seeing on your face may just mean you want me to stay." He looked into Janis's eyes and said, "Please do me the honor of inviting me in. I may be on wanted signs, but I'm not entirely bad."

Her cheek burned at his observation and she turned away. "No. I'm just embarressed that I acted so boldly and force you to cut up deer." she stated. It was half true anyway. She wasn't about to admit she thought he was interesting. Janis turned on her heels and walked to her housed. It was small, old. Only one story. The kitchen was just in throught the back door where she lead him. A living room branched off from it. You could see the from dor on the other end. A short hallway lead to the back.

"Hey, do you live here alone?" Cornelius asked as he walked back into the house and noted that there were only three rooms. "It must get boring here sometimes. I live alone and I get really bored sometimes. I'm actually on a quest to find myself some friends you know or at least someone who can respect me."
He walked over to the kitchen table and leaned on it with his back, "Does your house have chairs?"

Janis pointed to the one chair at the table. She had accidently broke the other one. "There's more in the living room." she said. "I get bored sometimes. But I'm usually busy but for a short time in the afternoon when Im not doing chores or practicing." she said. Janis walked into the back digging through her trunk. She returned with some old clothes of her fathers. "I didn't know if you had any extra, but you can put these on for now. You can change in here." she said gestering to her bedroom. "I don't mind. Though if you want I can make something to drink?" She look unnervous as she looked around the place. "I... It been awhile since I've had company." she whispered, biting her lip.

Cornelius took the clothes from her and thanked her. What she had given him was a simple gray shirt and some trousers, but they would fit right in with his boots. He took off his cloak and looked at his old shirt and pants underneath of it filled with holes. Then he walked into the extra bed room and changed. When he came out he said, "I bet you're wondering why I'm here. Kind of, sort of, well, if you've heard about my wanted posters they don't tell the full story all the time. They usually call me a menace, but I'm not I'm just a simple, peaceful book collecting, um, human. You know just like anyone..." He saw something was off as he spoke to Janis again. She was looking around the room a bit nervous. "Um, are you okay? If not, well, it can't be something too bad. I'm simply being chased for what I am and you- huh, you don't look like you have too many problems here other than a missing seat or two. Perhaps you're worried about that?" he addressed.

Janis looked up at him. "Huh? Oh. I'm fine. It's nothing. This is just a little odd for me. The only person that ever been here is my Aunt." she said, eyes running over the room. Everything was clean and in order, so there was nothing to fuss about. She looked back at him, taking in what he'd said. "I don't know very many humans who get chased for simply being human. You sure you never accidently hit someone important, or something?" she said, giving him that intense look, as if she was trying to see through him. He said all this a little too fast and his nonchalance looked forced.

"I'm sure I've never done any of those things you speak of, and I'm sure you find me odd considering I've walked to your doorstep pretty much uninvited." Cornelius looked down at her and added, "If you want the truth look at the cover of my book." He held up the red binding of the book for her to see and let his fingers leave space for her to read the title again. "Look at the title closely and think. If you think I may not be a book binder and this may be the only thing to link me to anything in this world, well then what am I?"

Janis looked at the title, cringing again. Why in the world read such a thing? Basic knowledge was good, but in depth? About dragons of all creatures. Her lips quirked up with amusement. "Well, seeing the title and thinking of your obvious infamy... My first conclusion would be you are a rapist. But, seeing the wince you just did, I guess not." There was only one more conclusion and that was impossible. There hadn't been any see regularly from a long time. "Your a dragon, aren't you?" she asked, almost awed.

"Ding, ding, ding!" Cornelius answered her as he set down his book on the table near him and clapped his hands in applause. "I'm a 100% pure born dragon. Might be the last of my kind, but I'm not really sure. All I know is that any family members I had are gone, so now I'm traveling the countryside alone to avoid problems from those who'd like to chase me."

"Huh." she said, sitting down in the nearest chair. "Well this complicates things." Janis ran her fingers through her hair, thinking. "At least it was my door you stumbled toward, and not someone elses. At least here you'd have protection. Whether I knew you were here or not." She sighed. "I could use some tea. Do you want some tea? I think I'll make some tea." She got up and went to the kitchen to fill the kettle with water.

Cornelius noted Janis's words and was glad to have come to her home. He said as she started to leave the room for the kitchen, "Tea sounds fine."

Janis busied herself in the kitchen. But still knowing a fugitive dragon in your house would make anyone nervous right? Right. She did have some strange people past through before, but not dragons. She couldn't help thinking she was a little over her head here. If the villagers caught her she'd be doomed for sure. But then again. What did she care for what they thought? Nothing at all. As long as they didn't come directly to her door. "Soooo..." she started pulling the now boiling water off the stove. "How did they find out anyway? About you being a dragon. You look normal enough."

"Oh, I ate some cows one night while looking for dinner during a rain storm." Cornelius began with a laugh. "The next day some kid came to my cave up in the mountains thinking the cows had run up there seeking shelter. He was surprised to find me sleeping inside it and screamed his head off." The next thing I knew he'd run off and by lunch time my good, old home was surrounded by villagers with pitchforks."
Cornelius crossed his arms and lay his head on the table while saying, "The next chance I got I used a forbidden dragon magic, ate someone walking around one of the villages I'd happen to run by in my escape, and gained the ability to change into them. It was something I really didn't want to have to use, but I had no choice. Still, it's been interesting since the guy I ate apparently was quite handsome and a strong fellow. With his "skills" and my own natural skills I've been able to pretend to be him and avoid most troubles I've encountered."
"Unfortunately, my cave's sealed off at Fensworth and I can't access anymore of the books pertaining to my library. That is of course except the one I have on me and another I have buried in a hole halfway between here and Fensworth. Dragons have laws and magic like is stated in some fairy tales, yet I've had the problem of having to go ahead break those things." He finished.

Janis set down her pot to let the tea leaves seep. She turned to look at him slowly. "You ate him?" she said slowly. She had to admit that was.... terrible. She gulped. "That's dark magic." she whispered, frowning and looking out the window nervously. janis was starting to wonder if it was a good idea harboring him. If he was not remorseful for what he did she might have to. She wouldn't help murders. But she had met to many who had met misfortune. She knew better then to jump to conclusions. Still, she'd never met a dragon so she didn't know their usual behavior.
