Time passed by slowly within the maw of the creature, for their lives were on the line and they needed to move swift like the serpent once had against them. The mercenary had tied a thick rope about the two of their wastes, insuring that during their violent shot upwards towards the surface that the young woman would not be lost behind him in a lower portion of the beast. The two would have to act quickly to break free, for they had no time for the leviathan's muscles to relax, yet within the tensed throat they would have thirty seconds to escape at best before they were either crushed or suffocated.

"Are you ready?" Rokairo asked in an ominous tone. The appearance which accompanied the captains face would not reassure the rogue of her determination, but as she gave a gentle nod he determined it was time for them to exit.

***

"Cap'm, by me own eyes da wa'er is swallo'en da ship, an de beasts er com'n fer de corpse. We best set sail an we aint leav'n without ye." Gronair reminded him, certain that the nearest port was far more comfortable for lingering than the open bloody waters.

"All ands ta yer stations!" The first mate of the Black Rose roared to the men upon the floating vessel. Many took hold of the positions they had formerly taken upon the sinking ship, some arguing intensely with the current crew about who would take hold of the area for the time. The ship was ready to set sail soon enough however.

***

"Hold your breath." Rokairo instructed Aria before a pocket of air burst bellow them, thrusting their entirety into the belly of the beast. The thick slimy walls pressed hard against them, as if they were still attempting to crush and digest the two as they slipped upwards through the behemoth. With each foot of progress a foot of flesh closed behind them, removing their connection with the nearly depleted air source bellow. With all the speed which carried them through the slick surface, they eventually felt themselves becoming leveled out, though they were still pressed against one another so firmly that it was difficult to move.

As the mercenary began to reach for his blade however, the pair began to slide further....and tilted to face downwards once more. We've reached the portion of the coil which dips back into the sea! The though became frantic, as he realized they may not reach the portion of the coil above the waters with the momentum they held. None the less they slipped down back into the abyss. Fortunately they finally halted their progress upon a level portion of the beast's innards. Unfortunately...this was likely the portion wrapped upon the underside of the wreckage. Slipping his arm through the grimy goop and flesh the Cross took hold of his dagger, striking through the barrier of flesh repeatedly. Blood began to pour in, covering the two with the remnants of the creature's cold life force, as he dug further and further. Soon however, the Falcon reached a wall of iron like substance... The scales... Each time he would try to strike against it for all he could tell within the pitch black darkness of the creature's belly was that he had made little to no progress...and his breath had been held for far too long.

Finally, with a his last effort, the mercenary thrust his gauntlet encased arm into the wall, a red cloud aura rushing about it as it amplified his strength. A loud crack brought relief to the man, as he struck once more into the stone scales of the monster. A gaping whole appeared where his fist had collided, large enough for the two to climb through and escape, but unfortunately the salty waters of the Gallows sea rushed in to meet them. With all haste the mercenary took hold of Aria and pushed her through the opening, following soon after...but there was something solid beneath his feet.... Standing up within the pool of water the mercenary soon met with the former captain's eyes.

"We're in the ship" She laughed, the two standing waist deep within the sea as the vessel sank further. It was true, the two had boarded the ship's cargo area, where the serpent had likely breached in order to get a good hold upon the vessel. They were far from reaching the surface...but they were safe.

***

"Let us leave dis ship cap'm, we nee ta set sail fore da munsters er back." Gronair called to the count. The men more than ready to take to the tides of the Gallows Sea.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Count looked at the first mate then back at the sinking ship. Gronair was right. The Black Rose was sinking and more beast would come. Even with a crew big enough for two ships if they were attacked they would still take some damage. He only had his sword with him. It was a useful weapon in his hands but still. Two lives were not worth more then the others. "Set sail for the Grand Port!" The Count ordered as he entered his quarters. There was a training dummy in the corner he hung his black and purple coat on it. He only picked the colors because they made it easier for him to hide in the shadows.
The Count sat down at his desk and leaned back thinking. He needed a plan for when he reached land. He had heard about a tyrant king but was not sure he was ready to face a challenge with such power. He would have to start smaller. But there were so many places to start. He could go into the prevention service. His job would simply be to save and protect people before they were harmed. He did that anyways though so it wasn't much of a change. Then he looked back at the door to his quarters. He had a bad feeling he had staid to long. But he always had that feeling. None the less he unsheathed his black bladed rapier and set it on his desk. Then he resumed his thinking.
The captain and mercenary soon stood upon the torn top deck, witnessing the wreckage of the vessel as it continually sank further into the depths of the sea. The Gallows had once more consumed a ship not worthy of passage. A swift breeze past them by, flowing over the Falcon's short black hair, and through that of the captain's as the two watched another boat make way towards the port from which they had departed. To some a foreboding sight.
"Tha ship took my men, it's sail'n away ta the grand port no doubt." Aria proclaimed, searching about the splintered boards for a replacement hat. "Wont be long until this ship sinks to the bottom...suggest we get afloat on a long boat...grab what supplies we might be needin." Her moist hand clasping upon a small red bandanna, she wrapped the cloth about her head before the former head of the Black Rose took to collecting items of worth, hoping to find some form of sustenance to hold them over until they met with the nearest coast. Birds began to fly above, carrying sounds of praise as they might feast upon the corpse of the fallen behemoth. This was a sign for praise for the sea lady as well, for she knew that a bird such as this would not distance itself from the shore.
"We'll be there in about a day's sail...ta Ronek I don know how long...should be the closest town lest we drifted farther than I'm thinkin." She confirmed, peering out over shore. Her words were cut short however, as she heard a clatter of footsteps over the ruble about the two. Turning upon her leather heels Alhandre found the rogue holding the intricately carved map in one hand, and a bundle of assorted foods beneath the opposite arm. The traveler's cloth which he'd worn up to this point was now gone, floating among the other remains about the sea, but now another cloth, white and crafted of a fallen sail covered his features. It carried many stains, black with gun powder, brown of dirt and muck, and even red from the beast's bloody demise.
"Why must ya cover your face like dat?" She asked. "You are not so putrid to witness." Aria assured him, and though she could not see the smirk upon his features any longer she could indeed notice the change in his step.
"Why my lady must you wear a hat, your hair is not so hideous after all." He chuckled, mocking her own words. "I wear a cloth over my face because there are many who want me dead, and many who have the capacity to kill me. The only thing saving my life from an army's wrath is the fact that none of them know who they are trying to kill." At his words the captain simply crossed her arms, huffing for a moment before she stepped towards the small boat in which they would make use. Her feet nearly slipped out from beneath her as she stepped upon a great accumulation of muck, though her years aboard the swaying seas allowed her to keep her balance.
"And why are ya bringin that map of yours? We can't simply carry all dat we like." Alhandre asked once more, investigating the man further as if to discover a flaw in his mind set. With this phrase, the rogue simply turned a sly gaze her way, dropping the food which he'd gathered into the vessel which she had chosen.
"You good captain are concerned with surviving, I however am concerned with living." Rokairo turned to face the tilted quarters once more, dipping into the half sunken ship repeatedly in order to scavenge more supplies. Not once however did he remove the map from his belt, as if the images upon it's surface would change the mindset of any man.
***
Soon the duo set sail upon the small ship, cutting through the Gallows Sea along it's current in order to find the coast near by. The small vessel was dubbed "Black Petal"
The Count left his quarters after a while and looked out towards the port. They were getting close fast but still had some time to sail. He looked out at his crew and the crew he had rescued. He took in a deep breath and renewed his love for the smell of fresh salt water. Yet still no smile crossed his face. He sat down and began to think of places to go once he reached the port. It was likely he would have to just travel. Without a mission for revenge his only real goal was to help the people and move on. That is why The Tyrant King had caught his attention. His only question was weather or not the tyrant would honor a challenge. He assumed he would not, so he would visit other kingdoms, train, and master dengen. Then he would go on to challenge the tyrant king. Even if he won the battle he would not kill the man. Simply show him his place. Then he would move on. He moved back into his quarters and rested knowing he only had harder tasks ahead of him. When he woke they would have reached the Grand Port. He would let the crew have the ship and he would begin his visits. But for now he would sleep.
The Count remained in his chambers as his crew cleaned the ship. After some time he came out of his chambers and looked at the vast see.
"Captain, we are heading for-" The crewman fell silent when The Count raised his hand.
"I don't want to know as long as we get somewhere." The Count replied as he entered his chambers again. He sharpened his black bladed sword and put it next to his bed. Then he put up a large map on the wall. He marked off the places he had been and then added places with certain rumors. The count sat on his bed and sighed. A few minutes later he had set up a hammock. He laid down on it as the sea rocked him back and forth. This was a peace he would only get on a few occasions. On his desk he had a map of the tyrant city. several routs were mapped to get in but one was rather strange. It was simply him walking right in and not bowing if told. That was not on his mind though only the peace was. Slowly he fell into a deep sleep and soon would learn why you never higher the smart sailors...
Safira De'Garr
User ImageSydelle stood on the deck among the busy sailors. Many gave her annoyed or longing looks, but she hardly noticed. She looked eagerly to the horizon, imagining land already appearing. Despite how impossible her quest seemed to be, she finally had a goal. After years of wandering in pure anger and grief, a relief was on it's way. But the distraction of planning her next move provided a balm better than anything else she'd known.
After awhile, when the men had grown accustomed to her presence, she went below deck. Sleeping quarters weren't exactly private, but she had no qualms. She could fend off any lonely sailor that would come up to her. By the time they reached land, they'd know the difference between a "torn skirt" and Safira De'Garr.
The Count awoke at sea he stood quickly and drew his sword raising it towards the door as King Lucheston Sorrian opened it. the Count slowly lowered his sword and put is away as he walked towards the King. "My turn?" The Count asked.
"Yes, remember the direction my city." The King said as he moved towards his hammock and laid down. The Count walked out of the captains quarters and locked the door behind him. So they had done for the last two days. since they left the city of all in an escape after the Count freed the King. They had quickly gone to the port and bought a boat. They chose to sail around and enter the city via waterways. They chose to rotate shifts though recently the Count had chosen to simply do all of them. The king was old and needed more rest then the Count who had lived a life of unknown legend. He moved to the helm and took hold. It was really just the two of them. The Count had bested thirty of the city's guards all at once so they figured if they were boarded those who invaded wold not last long. Nevertheless they had bought cannons. He became lost in though looking out at the sea as he steered the ship. He didn't notice the other ship within the corner of his eye but that ship was slightly far away.
Safira De'Garr
User ImageSafira was awoken by the sound of sailors bustling. They were never quite standing still, but they seemed to be more agitated than normal. She climbed out of her hammock and made her way to the top deck. All of the attention seemed to be focused on a spot in the distance. "What in the seven planes is everyone going on about?" She called out to the Captain. He glanced at her sideways for a long moment. "A ship." He said gruffly, turning his gaze back to the horizon. "Could be pirates, could be navy." Could be nothing. Safira thought, narrowing her eyes. Still it was something to pass the time. She leaned against the railing, watching the dot come closer, evolving into a ship.
The Count just sailed forward ignorantly. Then he realized he was sailing in a path that would cross him with another ship. He could move around without adding a longer time to his voyage. He quickly moved towards the captains quarters and opened the door "Sorrian! We are going to cross with another ship remain here and remain quiet." The Count ordered shutting the door and locking it. He moved toward the cannons and loaded each one that would aim towards the other ship when they crossed. He set the fuses slightly higher so he could hit them all with one bolt of lightning if needed. Then he moved back to the top of his ship keeping his sword drawn. It would appear to be him alone on the ship that would make some people want to attack and from his cloths that were torn from his last battle it was clear he had money.
As the ships grew closer the Count stared at the other ship gripping his sword tightly. The glowing city seemed so far away at this moment but that ship only seemed to get closer.
Safira De'Garr
User ImageThe crew watched in anticipation as the ship drew nearer. Safira narrowed her eyes, frowning. There was one sole figure standing on the deck in tattered clothes. Had he gone adrift after a freak storm? No, the boat was in decent shape. But what other explanation was there? "Somethin' ain't right." Safira turned as the Captain walked up to the railing. "Could it be a trap?" She asked. The Captain shrugged. Safira stared at the figure, trying to make eye contact. Out of the corner of her eye she noticed cannons ready to fire. She grit her teeth, daring the idiot to try something. She'd love a chance to take someone down.
The Count watched the ship and saw a girl trying to make eye contact. He narrowed his eyes and raise his sword so that if he fired it would light all the cannon fuses at once. "Try it, I dare you..." He whispered to himself. With how she was looking at him she would notice. Slowly as the ships crossed all his cannons were aimed at the ship across from him. Not only that but he could shoot lightning from his sword, a few bolts would destroy the other ship. It would seem they both had the wrong idea only he wasn't going to risk being attack. The first sign of hostility and he would fire and that girl was lookin pretty hostile about now.
Safira De'Garr
User ImageSafira had a pretty infamous temper and she never responded to a challenge well. Maybe it was due to her tortured past, but men that attempted to attack her found their target was always ready to fight back. She stared at the man, noticing out of the corner of her eye how close the ships were coming. They'd be lucky if they didn't touch, especially with those cannons sticking out like that. "I suppose we should let 'im pass." The captain said awkwardly. Safira broke eye contact enough to level a glare at him. He turned on his heel and began barking orders to turn the ship. But it wasn't fast enough. They were close enough for Safira to see every tattered scrap of the man's clothing. "A little late for that." She muttered. And suddenly in a moment of characteristic action-before-thought, she leapt up onto the railing. The ships were almost brushing now, despite the captain's frantic orders. In one smooth move, she jumped to the other ship, landing smoothly. "I think it's high time you stop hiding behind your cannons, don't you?" She asked, raising one eyebrow.
The Count looked at her then the cannons. "I think I am highly visible, so, I am not really hiding now am I?" He said keeping his sword aligned with the fuses. "Now get off my ship. I will fire, I don't want to, but I will, it would only cost me the price of replacing the cannon balls. I can afford that. " The Count was blunt. She was lucky he had fired when she stepped on his ship. His sword began to give off little sparks of electricity. Then he looked away from her to be sure the ships didn't crash. There was just enough space. should he fire the other ship would take quiet a lot of damage.
Safira De'Garr
User ImageSafira wasn't daunted by either his threats or his wealth. It was the beauty of anger: it covered up most fears. Unfortunately, it also tended to cover up common sense. "Do you always prepare to fire on every ship you see?" She asked, blatantly ignoring his threats. Firing on another ship wouldn't get her off his. She wasn't the kind to enjoy the deaths of innocents, but she wasn't the one aiming the cannon. Let him be the one with blood on his hands. She moved forward as he looked at the other shift. Her pace was even and none too fast. No need to give him reason to panic....even if there was reason to. "Can I at least know the name of the man attacking me?" She asked.
