C'rci was a stickler when it came to Bolth and Fasha's health. Sure she'd push training more then most of the Weyrlings wanting to keep Bolth in excellent shape along with the little crimson flit, but she was careful to never ever endanger him.
One thing she did take pride in was keeping the pair of them gleaming at all times. Not that either Bolth or Fasha particularly minded. There was something so peaceful, so loving and almost healing about the time she spent oiling and fawning over them.
Mercy had announced that their first lesson would be that day and C'rci had every intention of starting off on a good foot, err claw, paw combination that was her team.
Mmmmm Mine isn't it a bit early? Bolth murmured sleepily from where he had his head tucked beneath his riders chin her waking thoughts rousing him. Fasha though remained resolutely asleep or pretending too. She could be a bit lazy at times, but she was still young.
Good morning to you too Bolth. Yes I know it's early. I just want us to be properly prepared. C'rci replied lifting a hand to scratch Bolth's eyeridges the little dragonet's eyes whirling with delight. It would take a little time for her to disentangle herself from the blue anyway, she might as well make the waking process as easy on him as possible.
C'rci by nature had always been nocturnal, but being forced to conform to the Weyr's schedule had had a rather unintended effect. Instead of staying up all night the girl woke early, unusually early, only sleeping in on rare occasions. Just because she was awake though did not mean C'rci was 'up' per-say.
Since his hatching C'rci had learned her dragon was an unusually cuddly creature and the same thing applied not only in his waking hours, but sleeping ones as well. No matter what she tried at some point or another during the night she'd awake to Bolth draped over her like an overgrown blanket. His head would typically be tucked under her chin, his arms wrapped around hugging her like a child would a beloved stuffed toy and his tail usually wrapped tight around one of her legs. Gradually she'd gotten used to it, come to accept it and even enjoy the steady warmth and companionship it afforded them.
Still it only slowed C'rci from getting up, but never stopped it. All right scoot off Bolth. I can't oil you and Fasha like this. C'rci replied Bolth and Fasha who had been pretending to be asleep both perking up at the mention of a good oiling.
And soon with little prompting C'rci found herself draped with dragon and flit as she readied the oil and cloth to begin the careful process of making sure her companions shone like the sun come lesson time.

Dear Creal, brother of Mine~
It's been so long since I last saw you at the hatching. Bolth is growing wonderfully and is aging out of his awkward stage somewhat. He rarely falls or get's his wing caught anymore and if anything has seemed to have gained a distinct elegance for all his careful practice. He's as cheerful as ever and even as I write this he's staring over my shoulder complimenting the sketch of him that I've included in this letter. He says I'm getting better at the making of the squiggly figures. I'm sorry it's been so long since my last letter. Bolth is a handful even if his intentions are always pure. I doubt my handsome blue could so much as hurt a fly which worries me somewhat. While the other dragons seem content to argue on occasions and butt heads he's never shown any wish to do so and seems to go out of his way to avoid or placate a fight. He tells me that I'm willing to fight enough for the both of us so what need has he for such actions?
As you can tell his speech has grown vastly refined. Though he preferred more youthful and silly phrases I've found that they tend to hide an extremely large vocabulary and an excellent grasp of diplomacy. Then again I'm not too surprised since I know we hold long conversations at length just between the two of us and he's very fond of conversing with the other dragons no matter who said dragon may be.
All our hard work though is beginning to pay off. Both Bolth and myself am mostly muscle though I keep him fed very well since he unlike myself is still growing and burning calories. Still I can feel a nice thick layer of rippling muscle beneath his hide when I rest my hand on his side. We've continued doing wing stretched, I'm too worried of possibly hurting him to urge any heavy practice wing wise until further training. Still Mercy the Weyrling Master says we will begin learning to care for and craft riding leathers which means lessons in flight are not far off.
I am sure Bolth will look amazing in the sky, he's growing into such a handsome dragon. I can't wait to get air bound and given leave to fly where we wish. The moment I can I'll come visit I promise.
Love ~C'rci of Blue Bolth
