First of all try looking to make friends with the right people. people who you think you have things in common with, then just be yourself.

I guess I'm shy too... Plus I manage to make things awkward even around my friends too, that's how awkward I am... sweatdrop I also seem to have a slight unconscious dislike towards guys automatically, though I reckon it's because most of them are annoying and think they are so 'cool and funny'. But anyway, I'll send a friend request too~

i dont know exactly how to help you since 'shy' seems to not be in any niche or corner of my personality, but just try your best to smile and be who you are and in no time you'll have lots of friends! Also, if someone starts talking to you, try your best to keep the conversation going, like mia loved1 said. It all makes a difference. 3nodding

Im not really the shy type either but I have a friend who simply cannot bring herself to make any new friends. I got her to talk to her crush by doing her hair an makeup to make her feel confident and then just kinda shoving her in his face. It went so well because shes so sweet!
I would suggest to make yourself more confident by doing whatever makes you feel better about yourself, it doesn't have to be cosmetics, maybe wearing your favorite tshirt or listening to our favorite song. The its all about pushing yourself to talk to new people

The Ouroboros Alchemist
I am 100% in the exact situation... sweatdrop I just recently moved to college, and I have absolutely no friends here, and I barely ever leave my dorm (only for food and classes, of course). Plus it doesn't really help that I kind of dress "differently" from the usual preppy style, and apparently my straight face always looks either angry or sad. xp But I guess my advice would be that eventually (like after a few days or so), you'll start to get used to not having anyone around, and you'll slowly start to say hello to people. I guess that's a good way to start meeting others and forming friendships. Or just remember how you made your previous friends, and try it that way. Sorry if I wasn't much help.. sweatdrop
Looks like more than 1 person share the same boat sweatdrop

im out on my own as well. but like the gaians have said on this thread. find something in common with some and start from there. i see the immaturity of males in my dorm. its an act that wont fly when they get into the real world. i am myself 24/7. i wear coveralls when staying in my room all day and i go to sleep with my favorite doll. i also like my rifles that i shoot on a monthly basis. but ummmm. there giving me pills for my social anxiety. but feel free to mail me. i will do my best to respond to any questions you have. biggrin
