Sage~of~Water I think the reason why they did the Panda Rug was to mach the Panda Backpack item... I actually like the slippers, and it is hard to make up a Christmas item... they aren't animal haters persay but they are trying to make alot more items that are animal based. I would like it better if they would come out with more animal plushies than those types of items... i totaly agree on the plushi thing they need to make more plushis! 3nodding not rugs! gonk

It doesn't bother me-none of the animal items do. Ultimately it's just a bunch of pixels and I very much doubt that it will convince people to hate animals.

Even though its just pixels...and it doesnt MAKE people hate animals/go buy fur....
do you know how cruel the fur induystry is? I am an animal rights ACTIvist (i put act in caps because some people say they are when they never been to a protest or anything) so i kno firsthan how bad this industry is, and when a game like gaia feels they need to have fur products to up the interest in their website..that means the human population has increased its obsessivness with fur, its a bad sign.

Yes, I know how bad the fur industry is. At least fur ranches. I have less of an issue with trapping, but only because it is more humane. I still think the reason for fur trapping is aborrent. I don't think it's a bad sign. I know plenty of people who have the animal items yet would never wear real fur. Just as my avi has blonde hair yet I'm a brunette. wink

I think it's just a panda rug.
They wanted Gaia Homes to have the option of sporting panda rugs, so they made an item to make it possible.
Doesn't mean that the admins hate animals.

Pandas are endangered it should have been a normal non endangered bear that attacked and(as rumors say) killed Steve Irwin.

I hope they added that the Panda rug is a fake.... it might just be pixels, but pandas are ENDANGERED...

So this is kinda old, but I figure I should tell everyone since I don't see the reason here...
Perhaps some of you have not been on gaia long enough to know this. When gaia released its 'faux mink' item TONS of people became extremly upset about the item, saying that "Items like that promote killing animals!" Despite the fact that the item clearly said it was fake mink. With such an uproar over it, they admin decided to have a bit of fun with their next animal based release (the reindeer slippers) and made the description read "real animals" to kinda piss off the people that made such a stupid deal over the faux pixelated mink.

Well they are fake, this is just a computer thing. They aren't going and KILLING real pandas or deers. So I would think it's okay as long as it doesn't invole the killing of actual animals. But thye might be mocking us but i doubt it. But if you don't support killing padas/deer for furitune I wouldn't buy it.

no i dont think they are animal haters there just adding items its all fake there is no way that could make people hate animals when i saw it i didnt give a second thought that its just fake didnt need to its not gunna change peoples views.

Okay, they made something that LOOKS like an animal, and they're now sadists! Lets be honest, how many people are going to see that rug and thing hm, I think that that rug looks cool, I’m going to go kill a panda to get one! my guess...uh 0! People aren’t completely heartless, yeah there is some people who kill them and for what? Their own life! And no, before you even ask, I’m not con-animal I’m pro-human. If you're so offended by these...then don't buy them simple as that, my latest catch phrase: live and let live. You live your life and let them live theirs. Please keep in mind, THIS IS THEIR JOB. They make their money by designing these things if they want to make a pixel rug that resembles a fake dead animal, God love them it's pixel, and it resembles, it isn't real, and say that it was made of real fur, it's still a pixel! People I’m all for early prevention, but this is way over the deep end sorry.
