"Well exactly," agreed Frost, who had never been very good at modesty. "While basic maintenance and repair of cars is quite satisfying I am rather wasted on it, and doing it day after day gets tiresome in the end. Building new things, that's what I want to do. Air transport, now I think of it, ought to be a priority; if we are to deal with Galactic on an ongoing basis we shall need something better than simple helicopters. Personally I think we could make good use of pokemon such as Metagross and Metang. It wouldn't be hard at all to build something they could slot into; add armour, weaponry, other necessities... Control mechanisms. I wonder if it would be possible to wire directly into their brains?... I am rambling. What else were we talking about? Oh yes, shopping. Well it is less tiresome in company, I wonder if I can commandeer you for the day to accompany me? We could have lunch together as well if you like.”
Had he just asked Xander on a date? He was never quite sure what actually constituted a date. Perhaps it would be better not to say anything and leave it up to Xander to decide whether he had or not.

Most of what Frost had theories for would go well over Xander's head but he didn't mind, it was always nice to see his friend show passion for his work. "Sounds like your going into this new job area with plenty of very good idea's. They will be lucky to finally listen." he said with a grin. His grin turned into a smile at the question and he nodded, a slight blush across his cheeks at the offer of lunch. Whether or not Frost had meant it in a date sense was still to be seen but hey, a guy could dream if other wise. "I would be happy to come with you." he then finally remembered the plate he had been holding and sat down some where when they had started moving things. "Oh! I made you something. I guess you could say it's now something to celebrate your promotion." he laughed as he located the plate with the cheesecake on it and gave it to Frost.

"Mmh?" Frost raised his eyebrows slightly and accepted the covered plate; while technically speaking his senses had registered it he had been so preoccupied that he had not - as such - noticed it... Cheesecake. The small man smiled slightly and set the plate down on the chest of draws next to the cheerfully boiling kettle. "Tea and cheesecake sounds like an excellent way to celebrate. You are now my favourite person on the base... That was a joke, sort of. You were already my favourite person on base, regardless of delicious desserts. Did you make it yourself?" It certainly didn't look shop bought, and he did know that Xander was fond of cooking so it seemed reasonably likely. Xander had made him cheesecake. That was more pleasing than it had any right to be.

Frost's smiles had always made him feel like he had butterflies in his stomach, not matter how big or small they were and this one was no different. Xander gave back a happy grin and he fiddled with one of his gloves. He tugged at said glove slightly as he tried to stop the blush from showing up farther at Frost's words and instead gave a chuckle, used to the older mans humor. He stopped fussing with his glove and smoothed it, telling his self to stop acted like a girl having just been asked on her first date. "Yes I did make it. I hope it's good." The other Rockets had thought so but Frost's opinion counted more to him.

"Well it looks good," Frost nodded, inspecting the dessert carefully, "but the taste remains to be seen. I hypothesize that it will be delicious based on previous research of your culinary skills, but we can only accept the hypothesis by carrying out an experiment of course." He was trying to be funny. He had a niggling suspicion that he was failing. It was something in the tone of voice that he couldn't quite carry off. Maybe raising his eyebrow would help? He did so... And then frowned. "Bother. No cutlery." He couldn’t eat it without cutlery, that would be like... like... like eating something with your hands that ought to be eaten with cutlery. Thank goodness he hadn’t vocalised that failure to simile.

One of these days he would help Frost with his humor...maybe. Xander wouldn't tell Frost but the older mans jokes made him look cute in the 'trying hard' way he handles it. Of course the facial expressions he made when he was trying didn't help either in the cuteness factor. He gave the other man an amused smile then dug into his pocket for a plastic fork that was still in it's wrapper. "By all means then, experiment away." he chuckled and offered the fork to the lighter blond. Always come prepared and it would have been stupid to carry the cheesecake to Frost only to have to walk all the way back to the cafeteria for a fork after all.

Frost accepted the fork with a raised eyebrow and carefully unwrapped it. "I am beginning to think that you are beginning to know me too well. Thank you." It was nice not to have to explain why it was he like to do or avoid doing certain things. After putting the fork wrapper in the bin, Frost returned to the cheesecake and sliced off a small mouthful. It was, as expected, very good.
"Hypothesis accepted," he said with a twitch of a smile, "it is exquisite. Thank you for making it." He liked Xander, he really did but... But what? He supposed he just didn't really know what to do about him. They were friends and that was nice but... But what? Mostly - Frost decided as he took another bite of cheesecake - Xander was confusing, and made things complicated. This was not necessarily bad, but that didn't take away the fact that it was confusing and complicated.

"Well I do know you quite well and your welcome." Xander said with a grin. He didn't tell Frost that there was no way for him to know the other man too well as he planned on knowing everything about him and in his mind it wouldn't be 'too well' but perfect. He leaned against the wall and smiled happily when it was clear Frost was enjoying it. He tilted his head while watching him and relaxed against the wall with a brief thoughtful look. It had been a while since he had really flirted with the older man, maybe now would be a good time seeing as he had been asked out on a sort of date. Kind of.
"You are quite welcome." He said with a flirty tone and smile. "After all I like cooking for you." Not his best flirting but that was ok, plenty of time to build up like when they had first met.

Sadly for Xander the flirty tone and smile were not even a blip on the radar. Frost's ears registered a slightly different tone and his eyes took in the smile, but his brain failed to attribute any more importance to them other than 'Xander is speaking' and 'Xander is smiling and therefore probably happy'. "You certainly know me better than anyone else around here," Frost agreed as he poured out two cups of tea, "anyone with only two legs at any rate." There were things that Xander didn't know about him, and he was socially aware enough to know that the young man might not like them; lack of regard for human life if said life did not belong to a friend or valuable associate was not generally considered 'nice'. Still, there was no call for Xander to find about about it and other 'nasty' or 'amoral' traits too soon. If left long enough perhaps Xander would be attached enough to him not to mind too much.
"I hope you will not be disappointed by lunch," Frost added after a moment, "we shall have to eat somewhere that sells kinds of food you don't cook." He did want Xander to enjoy the food, and he thought that if they went somewhere that sold food he did cook the young man would just be comparing their work to his; Frost knew he did that sort of thing when looking at cars other people had worked on or designs other people had come up with.

At yes the obliviousness that happened with social cues at times. It didn't bother Xander greatly as he knew he just had to be more obvious and Frost would either get it or get annoyed. One way or another the shorter man was adorable when like that. "And I'm glad I could share this much knowledge of you." He said sincerely with a grin. "Of course there is always room to learn more." That last bit had been flirty and ever so slightly suggestive.
"Don't worry, I wouldn't be disappointed so long as I'm with you." He gave another flirty smile. It was true that he would be happy with where ever they went as he would always prefer paying attention to his company then to deal on how good his food is vs. the restaurants food. Of course that doesn't help when he was alone but that wouldn't be a problem right now.

"Well naturally," Frost handed over one of the cups of tea, "you could hardly learn all there is to know about me in only a couple of months, nor I about you... And I'm pleased that the kind of food will not be important?" What a strange way to feel, of course the food mattered... Well maybe Xander was complimenting him? Or then again maybe other people were less fixated by details than he was. "Maybe we can find somewhere with an open kitchen," he suggested after a moment, "I like to be able to see my food prepared... Mmh, though of course once it is cooked and we have it I will pay more attention to you?" Why had he put a questioning inflection on that? Was he looking for approval?... He supposed he was. How uncharacteristically normal of him.

Xander nodded his head and took the offered cup with a smile in thanks. "Well it's a good thing we have time to learn then." he said then took a small sip of the tea. His eyes sparkled in amusement at Frost's non statements and he held in a chuckle. "Good as I find the right company can make any food taste divine." he said with the same flirty tone and a bigger smile. "Sounds like a good idea, I haven't been to an open kitchen restaurant in a while now and they are always a good place to pick up tips for cooking." Was it wrong of him to feel like he could just lean over and kiss Frost for his last question? Honestly the man was just too cute with out even meaning to be. The teen lightly ran his right index finger over the rim of the tea cup and chuckled. "Good, I'll be sure to try my best to keep your attention on me at that point then."

"Well... good," said Frost, who was pretty sure Xander was hinting at something or other but had no idea what it was. Well he supposed he had an idea, but he didn't really know how to react. He really wasn't very good at this sort of thing.
"Anyway, we can organise that tomorrow," he went on, changing the subject to avoid further confusion. "Once we finish up our tea I have a variety of things I need to sort out with regards to my new rank, people to report to and so on. If you haven't got anything else to do you can stay up here if you wish, not that there is anything particularly special about being here versus our - your sorry - room but nevertheless the offer is there." He was confident by now that Xander wouldn't go through his things, and if he felt more comfortable here than there - the uncertainty of when a new roommate might arrive and so on - then that was fine by him.

Tactful diversion there Frost. Xander gave a slight chuckle at the change of subject but figured that to be his cue to let it drop for now. "I think I'll stay here for now. I can help tidy things up while you're gone if you want." Not that it looked like it needed cleaning but he figured it wouldn't hurt to offer his assistance. That and it would keep his mind busy from the thoughts still trying to circle his mind. Had it only really been an hour at the most since he found out? He took another sip to drown those thoughts once again.

“Your offer is appreciated, but I shall decline,” Frost replied with a brief twitch of a smile. “There is a little more to organise, but I would prefer to do that myself. You understand.” It was nice when people understood. Sometimes he wished more people understood, but not very often; it wasn’t going to happen and so he refused to waste much time thinking about it.
“So. I will see you later then,” the small blond nodded, “and thank you again for the cheesecake.” With one last small smile Frost finished off his tea and set the empty cup down on the chest of draws beside the cheesecake plate. Having already said goodbye Frost being Frost saw no reason to say anything else to Xander, and so he simply turned and exited the room; there was work still to be done today, further recreation would have to wait.
