Upon impact, Ixion’s magical lump of coal fell flat to the ground. It left the rolling youma slightly dazed and distracted for all of a second. It was a minor hit and had little impact.

The youma let of a strange melodic sound, almost like a laugh; it was all too gleeful as it steam rolled over Ixion’s lame clump of coa, crushing it as it continued to plow ahead at its senshi targets.

Ixion was pulled into Maia as the boulder youma tumbled passed them. He stumbled a bit, but quickly regained his composure.

Curious, he watched Maia’s magical notes slow the youma down. The notes swirling around it made the youma teeter and rock back and forth, like a weeble.

Seizing the opportunity, Ixion attacked the youma. “Ixion Coal Rush!” The black clump of coal hit the youma smack dab on the crack. Again it fell to the ground, but made quite the impact. The crack grew and spiraled out like a web, expanding across the surface of the youma’s body.

Ixion promptly followed up with a kick. He took a flying leap at the monster, the heel of boot landing a forceful blow. The entire body of the youma crumbled underneath him and exploded into a cloud of dust.

Coughing, Ixion wandered his way out of the cloud. When he found Maia, he smiled cockily, proud that he was able to lay the finishing blow. “That was amazing! Did you see that!?”

Ixion clapped his hands together, rejoicing in the fact he finally accomplished something. But his smile quickly faded as he looked around at the destruction around him. Water was still gushing into the street.

The boy she was watching? Out a window? … Ixion just climbed out a window. His soft brown eyes stared at Maia’s watery blue ones. Everything about her was so familiar, her face and her voice; even the way she brushed him felt familiar. His mind was working away, putting two and two together. The boy was pretty good at puzzles.

“I think I saw him.” Ixion grabbed Maia by the hand and started to lead her back down the street towards the Colt’s house.

Ixion didn’t say anything, instead he went and rooted around in the small rock garden in front of the brownstone. There was a small pile of rocks lining the Colt’s small patch of grass; in that pile was one well hidden fake rock. The plastic rock had a secret compartment underneath it which held a spare key. Ixion slide the latch down and let the key fall into his hands. Casually, he walked back to the door and unlocked it.

He led Maia back inside. Once the door was closed, Ixion powered down, revealing that he was in fact Sam. “Lily… it’s me. See.”

*********, heh, so Lily knew her too! “What was I suppose to do? Tell you I had to go fight a monster that was destroying my street?” Sam teased her, smirking.
Looking down at his sooty hands only made him smile wider; it was proof that he had done a good job.

The boy obeyed his babysitter though, and dashed off to the bathroom to wash-up. When he was finished he met Lily in the kitchen. Hopping up onto a stool, he grabbed a large slice of pepperoni pizza and began chewing on it. No plate, no napkin. Sam just held the piece in his hand, pulling the slice back from his mouth with long strand a cheese dangling.

Sam a little bit surprised that Lily wasn’t scolding him, telling him never to power-up again or join in the fight. Part of him was expecting motherly, protecting words of caution about the Negaverse, about the dangers that were out there. He had heard it before from other senshi, those that didn’t approve of younger kids being awakened. Sam just couldn’t see logic in their thinking. He was a senshi too, he had powers, and he could help! That was something he just proved, out in the street.

But he should have known better with Lily. Sam was glad to hear her advice about what to do next time, rather and deny there being a next time.

“********* did, a few weeks back, 7 maybe? How long for you?"

“Lucky? Because we’re safe? How?” Sm frowned a bit, trying to understand that statement. He equated safety with power, survival of the fittest. As far as he knew about his own powers, and what he had heard about other chibis, their powers were lame. At least Sam though his power was weak, compared to what older senshi could do.

Sam was proud though, so his smile was quick to return. “I do practice! Almost every day! I have a targets in my room…” Instead of saying he knew how to use him phone, Sam pulled it out and scrolled to the menu to show Lily the list of senshi he had met.

“Tanzanite” Sam repeated, nodding. It was fortunately, a name he had never heard before. If Lily said so, he believed she was dangerous. “Run, got it.”

The two sat there for a little while longer, Sam happily chowing down on his pizza. He had eaten almost half of the entire thing; growing senshi boys sure could eat a lot. He sat there, swinging his legs happily. It was nice to not to have to keep his new life a secret from everyone he knew.

When they finished, Sam powered up briefly to exchange numbers with Maia. Then when they were finished, he lead her back to the den and pulled out a PS3 fighting game. Then he settled in on the couch, getting nice and comfy. Controller in hand, he started up the game.
