The green was right, at least in part. Lerath’s efforts were not availing him. A bronze and brown in particular were harrying her far past his effort. Other blues were already slowing, giving in to the inevitable. This was his first chase though, and he had no intention of giving in so easily. Snorting challenge, he threw effort into his already wearying muscles.

It seemed that once again, however, he was slipping behind. No surprise, he was Brumath, and the world was not a kind place. Why did he try? He didn't know, yet he always did. Not out of pride. Not out of belief that this time would be different. He tried because... because...
The green flew on.
He would chase her.

Excuse me? Pipith roared furiously at the brown and sped on. He was a bronze, and he was going to catch this green! He was not going to lose to a brown, not a chance! Thanks to his increased determination - and indignation - he regained what 'ground' he'd lost.

Oh shards, perhaps she shouldn't have taken the time to pull that last stunt until she was further ahead. The bronze and brown who were in the lead were both dangerously close to her now. No! She wasn't ready yet! She would pick who her suitor was, not be caught by a couple of plucky males so early on! She refused! In an effort to regain some of the distance between them, Taith tried to pull another dive maneuver. Whether or not she would be intercepted in the process remained to be seen.

There! She dove again, and this time Lerath waited until he came to the spot she occupied before the swoop before following suit. Small and tight-bodied, he fell with agility and dexterity, but he had to flare his wings and slow himself to keep from crashing into the bulkier pursuers ahead of him. He shrieked at them, but could find no gap between their huge bodies, and he lacked the speed to try circling around their sail-like wings.

Shards, but this green was good! Pipith dove after her, but didn't have the speed or the agility to match the move. He came out of the dive no closer than he'd been before, rumbling his aggravation with the situation. Come on, how much longer could she last? She was just a green!
He could have her, he could...

Oh she was a tricky one, he had suspected as much but he hadn't realized quite HOW tricky, still, surely she couldn't last much longer, he might not be as fast as her but his greater stamina for longer flying should come in here....there, she tried a desperate dive, he followed after her, surely she would be tiring by now.
*edit for roll* ... She must have been tiring, since he intercepted her dive easily. He gave a Triumphant bellow as he caught her.
Down on the ground in the Weyr B'nas smiled triumphantly too, "I told you Milnth would catch her" he said to Keela, putting his arm around her waist and leading her off.

The maneuver meant to free her had only gotten her caught in the end. Taith let out a furious scream as the brown first ensnared her, but the fury quickly melted away into passion. If he had caught her so quickly then the brown had clearly flown quite well-- next time she would just have to be better.
