To say that Kisho was shocked by his admission was an understatement... couldn't fly? So essentially he had mated himself to a grounded mare? There was nothing wrong with that but..... his brother had always liked to fly, had he truely scarificed his flight in order to be with her? Or would he one day recent her lackings?
Still.... Kisho was intreguied. "Ah...... is she the runt of the little then?" He asked, he didn't really know much about baskets or about what happened when the DNA of parents mixed.... just the basics. Though he must admit that even he was suprised by his sudden interest, it wasn't as if he was trying to have foals of his own..... or was he?
The idea shocked him. Was he truely considering foals? He had avoided them for so long..... yes he had been a player, but he had never once left a mare with foals..... was he unable to?

Ronin glowered at Kisho, "Don't call her that!" To him Fleur was anything but a runt! And he would not have his brother thinking so. The truth was that Ronin didn't know how his mate had come to have small wings, it was likely due to the mix of a flutter and a unicorn parent..... the combination of the genes had made each slightly less? He was only guessing though.
Then he noticed something.... surprising!
Kisho suddenly looked serious, was he seriously contemplating runts and litters? Unable to resist an opportunity to taunt him he asked, "What has made you all serious all of a sudden? Don't tell me you got Ichi with foals on your first attempt?" He chuckled and mused, he knew his brother had taken many mares but never once had they fallen with foals.... it would be funny if Ichi had.

"Sorry...." Kisho said absentmindely, his mind was to consumed with the idea of foals.... Ichi's belly large, his foals growing in her swollen belly. The look would suit her he was sure, everything suited Ichi though in Kisho's mine.... but then there was another issue. He had heard rumours that mares actually died during childbirth..... would Ichi?
He sat a little straighter, his ears standing tall and alert..... he couldn't allow that. They could never have foals then.... never.
He brows drew together, why did that thought pain him just as much as losing her?
Confused he turned to his brother as he spoke. The words were just what he needed to snap him out of his dire thoughts for a moment, "I have grown up little brother. But no... she is not with foals... thankfully." He muttered the last word as a near whisper.

Ronin raised a brow at his brothers reaction... he was almost certain that his brother had added 'thankfully' but he couldn't be sure. Was his brother truely that worried about getting Ichi with foals?
Curious he asked, "Do you not want foals?"
For Ronin he had always imagined that everyone dreamed of foals one day.... continue their bloodline.

Kisho looked at his brother and slowly shook his head, he supposed part of him did. But he didn't want to lose her.... wasn't done indulging in just her, enjoying their time together... her laughter, her joy... the peace he felt in his heart just being with her.
He coughed, a desperate effort to change the subject, at least from himself. "Do you?"

Ronin could tell his brother was hiding something... something that he obviously felt very strongly about. But what was it? He knew his brother wanted to drop the subject but he couldn't.
So in all honesty he said, "Yes I do, and frankly brother.... I can not believe you do not want them as well?" He raised his eyebrow in question, hopefully his brother would realise that this was one subject Ronin would not drop.... call it, payback.

Kisho cringed, an action very out of character but true to his emotions. he turned away from Ronin, not really wanting to voice his true opinion on the matter. Should anything happen to Ichi, should he lose her, should she be hurt or grow ill and weak and he fail her.... he would NEVER forgive himself. He could not allow it, would indulge in her and her alone, as long as they were together they would never need children to find fulfillment in life... right?
But a secret part of Kisho's mind whispered that Ichi would probably want children, want to hear the pitter patter of little hooves, of laughter, of smiles, of THEIR children.
Still, Kisho knew it would make him nervous even as he accepted that he would give her anything she wanted. He cringed again, perhaps there were ways around it? He would seek out a healer and see, he had heard of preventions used for mares who had miscarried or had unhealthy pregnancies.... perhaps they worked on normal mares also? He could only hope.
Turning back to his brother, face pale from his true dread he simply shrugged. His brother wanted babes, it was not Kisho's place to turn him away from that goal.

Ronin stared at his brother, waiting for a reaction.... something, but nothing came. Past forgotten and curiousity getting the better of him he softly spoke to his brother. "What do you fear for brother? Do you fear that Ichi would not want them with you? That you will not be able to sire any? Or maybe that you will sire no sons?" His brother had always been confident and cocky in his every action and will and this all seemed.... wrong, to Ronin.
For a long while Ronin simply watched, deciding his brother was not going to simply answer he prompted, "Well?"

Kisho remained silent for a long time before finally speaking, it was hard, each word stuck in his throat like glue. "I can't lose her." His expression was pained, angered in part by the fact that it would be HIS FAULT!
He turned to his brother, looking into his eyes. So familar, yet so different due to this sudden light that shone from inside of Ronin. "I will not lose her Ronin, childbare can be.... difficult." He cringed and shook his head, "I would rather not put her through that." He growled.

Ronin had to admit that he was confused, why was his brother so certain he would lose her? After all he had won Ichi fair and square, not as if Ronin had ever really had a chance. Yet the fact that his brother seemed to believe so strongely in this seemed to mean something to Ronin, he couldn't simply ignore his brothers fears.
Smiling he nuzzled his brother softly. "Worry not brother, I am sure Ichi will be fine. She is a strong mare.... and you are a strong stallion." He turned away at that, a soft blush covering his cheeks. In near enough every way Kisho was the ying to Ronin's yang, they were opposites. In Ronin's eyes his twin brother was brave and strong, while he was weak and insignificant..... yet as that thought crossed his mind he couldn't help but think of his own mate. Was he really how he saw himself? After all, she seemed to see something more within him.

Kisho looked to his brother, happily nuzzelling him return. Ronin was the only person that Kisho had ever truely lowered his guard around, in many ways he knew it was because his brother would always see him more highly than he saw himself.... and in the past that had been ideal, yet now, part of Kisho ached to show his brother the truth. He gulped, forcing his pride down. "You are the stronger of the two of us, you always did as you were asked with honour and pride while I ran away. You show compassion and care for those around you, even those whom you owe nothing. Ronin, you are my better half.

Ronin fell silent, he couldn't look at his brother... put part of him knew that his brother was being serious rather than trying to mock him.
Unable to register the new emotions at the moment he stood up, shaking his tail fiercely from side to side and opening his giant butterfly wings wide. He turned to his brother then, "Lets fly!"
Although Ronin could fly both large and small he always prefered it small, and so he took a moment to focus his magic to shrink. Unlike pure flutters he was not quite as small as a butterfly, but instead about the size of a small bird. Still much smaller than a Usdia but a little easier to spot than his pure breathren.

Kisho was taken a back by his brothers soon wish to fly but decided it was probably for the best for them both. After all flying made him feel free, and he suspected it did the same for his brother.
Heart racing with expectation he shrunk also and flew beside his brother, flying a loop-de-loop around him before grinning in his usual cocky attitude. "Race you!" He chuckled before looking away from his brother long enough to see their target. "First to the rose bush over there!"

Ronin would probably have usually let his brother finish before starting but before his brother had even picked a finish he had started off in the direction of his brothers eye line. Moments later his target reached his ears 'the rose bush', his eyes scanned ahead, and sure enough he found his target. In all its thorny glory. "You're on big brother!" He taunted, using the 'big' in the same way Kisho had used 'little' earlier.
Ronin's wings flapped with as much power as he could manage, their large size scooping up large amounts of air and sending it in swirals around him. His hair accessories jingled like little bells and he couldn't help but smile. It had been so long since he had just.... played.

Kisho grinned at his brother's cunning. It was rare... like super rare... that Ronin would actually try and trick him. And Kisho couldn't help but suspect that the mare he had taken for his mate had something to do with this change in him.
It was a good change.
He paused for a moment, not realising he had actually stopped rather than participating in the race. His brother was looming ahead. Interesting... a challenge. Kisho enjoyed a good challenge.
Opening his wings wide he flapped them in a steady rhythm. One two three. One two three. One two three. Over and over again, and slowly but surely he began to eat at the gap betwene himself and his brother. Kisho had much more practise with his wings, after all he had travelled the world while he brother had remained at home.
