“I know you are awake.” A little distance away Vaughn had taken a lay down from the female, he was still well in the distance to save her if she were attack but he was far enough away for his senses to not be on edge. He had searched for the few hours she had slept for water nearby and there was a spring but it would probably be hard to get her there, he could probably get her to follow him somehow then he could faint by the spring while she drinks her full then kills him. ‘Wonderful, relax…d don’t think like your father.’

“The dead animal is for you, it’s a bit stale but I can easily get you another if need be.” His voice stayed relax as he tried to make sure not to freak the orange wolf out, he had to stay completely relaxed but that was hard since automatically he wanted to flip out and run away from the scary female.

He had to admit though while she slept she seemed peaceful enough, like she needed someone to protect her like she needed someone to befriend her; he was built to be a friend though he was built to be a leader… ‘Maybe not?’ It could be true, he could be her friend he could still work for leadership but fate seem to have other plans for him right now.

The sound of his voice breaking the silence startled the female. If she had had any strength left, she would have jumped to her paws and snarled at him with such ferocity that he'd do the weird sitting thing again. But her limbs still ached and she knew that she was in no state to make any sudden movements. So, instead, she narrowed her eyes on him and gave the dirtiest look she could manage. She noticed before her fainting spell that he couldn't seem to take her angry eyes. Maybe she could get him to back down.

At the mention of the dead animal, she spared half a moment to glance down at the squirrel again. Her stomach growled, and she realized that she was suddenly ravenous. When was the last time she had eaten?

"Uh..." she mumbled dumbly, at a loss for words. "Thank you?" This was certainly not something a hunter of his own kind would do. Feeding his prisoner? That was simply not logical. Why would someone feed a prisoner if their only intention was to kill them later? It simply didn't make sense, and the female's mind worked hard to try and find some sort of trick. But, in the end, there was just no explanation.

Carefully, slowly, she pulled the squirrel closer with one paw. She rolled onto her belly, cautious. She sniffed the meat, and found nothing foul or out of the ordinary in the scent. Her mouth watering, she tore into the meat, not even bothering to savor the flavor of the meat. The small animal was finished in under a minute, and she found herself searching around for more. There wasn't, of course, but she still hoped. Realizing there was no more food, she turned her attention back towards the strange male.

"Why did you do that?" she questioned, her genuine confusion showing plain on her face. All this time, she had been running, fearing pursuit and death at the hands of her enemies. She had thought him among her enemies, yet he had stayed by her side when she'd collapsed, and fed her. He'd kept her alive. Entirely unnatural. She wanted to know why.

Standing Vaughn shook out his fur, she couldn’t move very quickly and as long as he didn’t stare at her he didn’t have the shaky feeling. “I’m going to get you another, stay there you might hurt yourself f you move too much.” All he had to do was quickly pass her and get to a good area of squirrels and then come back and… Get near her again and drop it to her, easy enough? As he got closer he could feel that shaky feeling come back, “If you could just… look over there…” He gestured in a direction he wasn’t heading, “I just need to go that way…” He gestured in the opposite direction. He could feel his back side start to have that magnetic feeling towards the ground, she really could quite easily get him to sit… Like a trained dog.

“I’ve already proved that I’m not going to hurt you now just… look in a different… direction…” A gulp and his fear and panting was back, somehow he was still able to move closer though. SOMEHOW Vaughn was still able to move at all! ‘I can’t do this… I should have run, she’s going to jump up and attack me then run off and leave me for dead…’ Some part of him wished to have the ability to hurt females but then the image of her falling asleep hit him. Even if he was able to hurt or not be afraid of females he wouldn’t hurt this one, she needed a friend.

“All I want is to help you… Once you are fully able to take care of yourself again you will have the choice to either keep me around or…” Gulp, “Or fight me.” ‘Maybe she doesn’t know that I have no ability to hit females…’ Ha! Isn’t that a laugh.

Eris narrowed her eyes, trying to figure out this wolf once more. Every single action of his caused her more confusion, and he never did anything that she expected. She was almost certain, however, that he was not here to kill her. He was going about everything in a completely roundabout way, so there was no way that he had any intention of harming her. There was also that weird shaking and sitting thing he did whenever he got too close or her eyes scared him.

As he rose to retrieve another squirrel for her, a slight growl escaped her lips. Although she didn't think he was going to harm her, she still wasn't' comfortable with the fact that he could move around all he wanted and that she was still too weak to do so. Even if she was hungry, she didn't want him passing by her that closely.

"I'm not hungry," she lied, although her stomach gave a little grumble of protest.

When he gave her the ultimatum, keep him around or fight, the orange wolf was rather surprised. Her brows arched and she looked at him pointedly, her black eyes nearly glowing with surpressed anger. "Excuse me?" she spoke curtly, fur beginning to bristle. "Are those my only options? Keep you or fight?" She scoffed, tossing her head slightly. "How about I just leave you. Or, better yet, why don't you just leave me alone?" Her words were harsh, and came out in a low growl.

"I don't know you, I don't like you, and I don't want you around."

Biting his tongue Vaughn couldn’t help but have the urge to snap at the female, she must have been through a lot and she didn’t deserve to be treated as such. Surprisingly he was able to stay looked onto the female, his eyes focused on the black ones before him his butt hit the ground again as he fought with the options around him. ‘Fates wants me here… This will be good for me and for her…’ He could remember a time where ignoring females was as easy as breathing but oh no he just had to be a hero.

It wasn’t fair, he should have run she wants him to run now but staring at her something in him just told him to stay to convince her that he could be used to her will it wasn’t like he wanted to hurt her or kill her or anything like that… ‘But she doesn’t know that…’ And she wouldn’t believe him even if he told her. Sighing Vaughn shook his fur out, standing at the same time before a slight nose came from the south.

Smirking Vaughn nodded a small idea popping into his head, it probably won’t work but it was worth a try.

“Alright, I will leave you then.” Nodding Vaughn trotted off towards the nose, fully knowing what it was already and killing it easily. It took longer than expected to kill it but before too long trotted back through that orange wolfesses area with a freshly killed squirrel in mouth, dropping it lazily on the ground just out of reach of the orange wolf.

Nodding again towards the wolf Vaughn howled his last before leaving, “Good day.” Right outside the area Vaughn plopped onto the ground, his whole body shaking, ‘That was horrible! I can’t believe I got that close and was that calm around a female…’ Suddenly Vaughn could feel his gag reflex start acting up, ‘No don’t throw up…’

Eris eyed the male warily, wondering what was going on in his mind. Why did he want to stick around so badly? She had done nothing but treat him with hostility and anger, yet he had offered to stay and would willingly hunt for her. It was all unreasonable and she felt the urge to growl at him again, to chase him off and show him for real that she didn't want him around. Yet her legs still wouldn't respond, and her frustration grew.

When he finally agreed to leave her, a huge sigh of relief left her lungs. She hadn't realized that she had been holding her breath, and she wondered why that was. Perhaps she was just waiting, hoping that he would listen to her and would actually leave her alone. She was still suspicious of him, despite her conclusion that he wasn't a threat. But if he knew others that could possibly come to harm her... she shook her head, not wanting to try and figure things out all over again. He had said he was left by his pack, and that he wasn't going to hurt her, and right now she had no choice but to believe him.

"Finally," she murmured, after he had left her sight. Yet not too long later, he came back, a squirrel in his mouth. She narrowed her eyes once more, scrutinizing him. She dreaded that he might think himself clever, 'leaving her' for a few minutes then coming back so quickly.

He left again, however, and she found herself alone once more. She sighed again, glad to finally be rid of him. Stirring uncomfortably, she rose to her paws slowly and with much effort. She staggered over to the squirrel, before picking it up in her mouth. Glancing around her quickly, she affirmed that she was still alone, then limped off in the opposite direction that the male had taken.

She hoped she never saw him again.

Glancing towards the direction of the orange wolf Vaughn frowned, alright so his plan didn’t work very much but he got another one. Shaking out his fur he suppressed his gag reflex already searching thoroughly for any sound of another squirrel around. There it was chasing after it Vaughn caught it and killed it, again it didn’t take long for him to head back to the orange wolfesses area that she was walking through… Quite slowly.

Popping out from the bush line Vaughn didn’t spare a glance at the wolf and just dropped the dead squirrel onto the ground as close to the wolf as he could get without throwing up. Hurriedly Vaughn rushed through the bush line again knowing full well that he should probably have more dead animals with him at all times if he was going to follow this female around.

Eris struggled along, her former exhaustion catching up with her. She had been out for a few hours, but that hadn't been any sort of restful sleep. If anything, it was almost as if she had been knocked out. Except she was pretty sure the male hadn't even touched her. So she couldn't have been knocked out. Shaking her head, she grumbled something about thinking too much into everything. She always overthought situations and tried to find something that was never there. She had to stop.

Limping along, she heard something move behind her. Groaning, for she wasn't in the mood for any more surprises, she stopped and waited. A few moments later, she spotted the strange male running hither and yon, gathering squirrels and dropping them close to her. Beady eyes narrowed as her anger flared up within her breast.

"I told you to leave me alone!" she snarled, all energy focused on antagonizing him. She waited for him to get close, then snapped at him, her teeth clicking viciously, a threat to him. She wasn't going to put up with him anymore. Why couldn't he just leave her alone?

"GO AWAY!"

Glancing up from his new duties Vaughn could feel the anger coming off in wave and pouring into his nerves wrecking his focusing ability. His shaking turned on once again and he lost control of his back legs sitting before the bright wolfess. Gulping he did his best not to look at her, she was so scary and all he could think of was how pathetic he seemed and how he wasn’t helping and…’Oh shush up!’ Taking in deep breaths Vaughn was doing his best to clam himself, he had to take control finally sometime in his life.

Glancing up Vaughn knew that he wasn’t going to leave her alone, that he would stick with her even if she killed him herself and something in him said that that’s how he was going to die. Huge gulp and he stood up; his body shaking still as he slowly took steps towards the wolf.

“My name is Victory Vaughn, I am an outcast of my pack and I do not do well around females.” Good good got through the first part and he was still walking, and surprisingly not passed out on the ground.

“If you haven’t noticed by now I am not going to leave you alone.”

Eris watched him with blazing eyes, her sudden anger giving her a boost of energy and confidence. She was now completely positive that he wasn't going to harm her, but it was a little strange that he kept by her, refusing to leave. She couldn't wrap her head around the idea that he still wanted to stick around, despite all of her angry and harsh words. Even more strange was the weird sitting thing he did. It almost made her want to laugh.

When he stood up and seemed to have something to say, she actually waited and listened. Yet she didn't really care what he had to say. He was still bothering her, and she still wanted him gone.

"That's nice," she spoke quietly, with much sarcasm. It was obvious she didn't think it was nice at all. Her tone relayed all of her irritation and annoyance with him. Why wouldn't he just leave?! "But I really don't care--" Her words shut off suddenly as he claimed that he wasn't going to leave her alone. Her eyes narrowed further.

"You're going to leave me alone," she threatened, her voice turning into a growl. "I don't want you around. If you couldn't tell, I'm not a pack wolf. I don't stick around with others. You can go back to your pack or family or where ever the hell it is that you came from. But you are not hanging around me like some forsaken parasite!" Her fur bristled and she turned on him, almost preparing to lunge for him if need be. She wasn't feeling very athletic, but she would chase him off if that's what it took to get him to leave.

"So, Victory Vaughn," she spoke, spitting his name. "LEAVE ME ALONE."

Cringing Vaughn couldn’t help but sit down, his back side shaking now with fear and his temperature raising he could feel the urge to faint grow along with his urge to throw up grow. Biting his lip Vaughn had to keep focused, she wanted him gone and he didn’t have any place to go the ‘noble’ thing to do was stay with her and die by her attacks instead of alone out in the wild like some outcast. ‘You are an outcast…’ He couldn’t go back, he wasn’t meant to be a part of a pack either it seemed…

“If I’m meant to die by you then so be it, but right now you are meant to be helped by me. We’re figure the rest of the details out later.” Surprisingly himself by how calm he could by at this moment Vaughn let loose a low breath that he had been holding in.

“It seems I’m not a pack wolf either, and for right now what you want isn’t important. It’s what you need, and that’s food and rest.” Gesturing towards the pile of dead, already growing stale, animals in the area Vaughn wanted to bring attention to the fact that he hasn’t done what she’s asked but he has done what her body needs, which should be what’s important but he knows it’s not going to be acknowledged in the least bit.

“Things are horrible for you right now, and I don’t know anything about anything when it comes to caring for a female. I don’t need to know anything about you nor do I want to, I just want you to be healthy so that when… Whoever you were talking about before shows you, you can rightfully kill them. Whoever they might be.”

Okay, this guy was a lunatic. Eris decided that right on the spot. Did he have some sort of hero complex? He saw a damsel in distress and now he wanted to help her to make her life better again. How so incredibly stereotypical.

"I don't need your goddamn help!" she yelled, her ears flicking back in annoyance. How many times did she have to say that in order for the words to sink into his thick skull? "I don't care what you are, or how heroic you're trying to be. If you did something before that caused you to get kicked out of your pack, then that's your problem. But you aren't going to make up for it by sticking around me, boy. I don't want you around, so get that through your head! What I need is for you to LEAVE ME THE HELL ALONE!"

She was growing incredibly frustrated with him, and her paws itched to slap him across the face, just once. Or maybe if she could get her teeth into his shoulder and tear him down... she shook her head, not liking the violent turn of her thoughts.

"You don't know anything about caring for females? Well, let me clue you in, bub. We like it when other wolves do what we tell them to. So--" But her words stopped short once more as he spoke of her killing whoever it was that she had been speaking of before. Her eyes narrowed instantly, and her defenses sprang up. "You don't know anything about that, so shut your mouth."

Closing her eyes, she wondered if she would ever be rid of him. "Just... leave me alone. Got it? I really, really, REALLY don't want you here right now."

‘Should I leave? Should I…’ He could feel his body pull towards the direction of his pack, towards the direction of a place where he knew he could survive. TO a place where he knew he could deal with life with females, with his family his pack his blood line.

Shaking his head free of his thoughts Vaughn refused that path, this wasn’t happening! He wasn’t going to be bossed around by some strange female wolf just because she didn’t want his help! She needed something and he was going to do it whether she liked it or not! He might have a hero complex but right now he didn’t care, he had nothing else in his life right now… In fact he didn’t have a life outside of helping this female and if this is what fate wanted of him then so be it!

Standing again Vaughn went right up to the orange wolf and bared his fangs letting out a howl as loud as he could, “Then fight me and get rid of me yourself because I have no life outside of helping you.” His nerves were on end because he knew that this female could easily destroy him at her peak, thankfully maybe he had a chance since she was so helpless right now?

Eris was compeltely and utterly stunned. She assumed that, after so much hassle and angry words, the wolf would simply give up and walk away. But this male seemed dead set on helping her out, whether she wanted him to or not. And that really pissed her off. Her fur bristled and her teeth bared in response to his close proximity. She took an automatic step backwards, and felt her instincts sharpen as he threatened her with a fight.

If she wanted him gone, then she would have to kill him. Or severely harm him, at least.

"You're stupid," she commented bluntly. In the next instant, she lunged for his throat, her teeth bared. All of her former weariness disappeared and was replaced with adrenaline. It pulsed through her veins and filled her with a new sense of courage. She wanted him gone, and damnit, she was going to make him go away!

"You should have left when you had the chance!" she snarled, raising her paws to rake at any part of him that she could reach. "You'll regret it!"

Instantly Vaughn flashed back to his training with his father, all those hours of pumping his legs to reach his limit then push past it this was where he was suppose to put it to some use. The moment he saw the whites of her fangs Vaughn dropped to the ground making sure to press his body into a crawl position as to get as close to the ground as he could. Ignoring all sounds around him Vaughn could feel his veins rush with blood for the thrill of some form of energy release but he suppressed it.

The moment Vaughn saw the orange wolfesses paws leave the ground he lunged forward wanting nothing more than to knock the wide out of her or make her sit back and see that he wasn’t going to harm her even if she wanted to harm him.
