It didn't matter how many times Elzo said it. If truth could be found by repetition then murderers would walk out of courthouses while swearing to their innocence. Never mind that Audrey swore up and down to herself that she was unattractive and that this was the gospel truth, and that is why it was so. If she was forced to admit it she would agree that she was at least mildly attractive, and even pretty under the right circumstances. Beautiful? Never.
Instead, she just shook her blue curls and giggled at the air against her ear and neck. "Fickle? I am most certainly not fickle! I always know what I want and I go for it, which is why we're dating now instead of just pretending to be really weird friends!" Which wasn't working for either of them anyway. It was easier to resist temptation when you had another label next to your name, when there was a little more invested than just a light friendship. That was a thing she was very thankful for.
"And besides, I didn't say I wasn't, well, pretty." Though she was thinking it fairly obviously. "I was just wondering if I was like a nymph. You know I love water. I'm still surprised you weren't stricken blind that night at Jada's." She'd been pretty close to striking him herself. "And gimme that." Her hand reached out and snagged a pink-wrapped sandwich. "They're color-coded so we know which is which. Though mine is the tasty one, of course!" She kissed his cheek again, suggesting that perhaps she wasn't exactly talking about a sandwich.
"I can't wait until everything is back to normal. I'm going to make you swim with me all summer."

"Did I say fickle? I meant to say that you're perfect. Slip of the tongue." He blew into her ear again. "But I stand by the tasty factor. Count your lucky stars I'm not a cannibal." Elzo took a bite of his sandwich. It was a big bite, it was also one that made him choke slightly and have to guzzle down water much to his personal embarrassment. He must have looked so stupid. Here he was trying his best to..impress Audrey? Was he impressing her? Had he been trying? Was he trying to hard? Not trying enough? Once the food was down, Elzo tore off a chunk of bread and threw it at the lake. Ducks. Not quite as rabid as geese.
"I told you once, and I'll tell you again." A finger gabbed at her chest. "You." He pointed to himself. "Me." West. "The beach." He quickly changed direction of his pointer finger towards the coast. "That one, the closer one." He was making a fool of himself. "Just promise me I'll get to see you in that cute little bathing suit again. As for going blind that night..." He smiled his own sly smile. Audrey could take a hint. "Who's to say. Maybe I'm not blind, just enthralled. Seduced. Enamored. Addicted." He was giving her the look. The look that was really really suggestive and he always made at her when he wanted to get a rise of pink and red to her face. "Guess what? I got a fever, and the only prescription...is more Audrey!" He quickly kissed her nose before returning to his sandwich. HA! Let her take that...what ever it was he just did!

Snorting, Audrey nearly choked on her own sandwich and was forced to take a moment to chew very slowly and laugh through the flavors of turkey and pickle that had very nearly gone up her nasal passages. "Hah! Even if you were a cannibal, you wouldn't eat me. There wouldn't be anyone to put up with you, or go dancing with you, or go out to look at the stars in the middle of nowhere after driving fast. You'd have to do those things with your brother, and I'm hoping dearly that it's not the same sort of feeling!" Her smile was sweet and her amber eyes were wicked in the sun.
Her smug little grin somewhat dimmed as embarrassment at the fact that he was yet again bombastically declaring his attraction to her, all but shouting to everyone in earshot that this pretty lady was his lady. Sometimes, the bluenette wasn't sure if that was a bad thing, and that was why she was so absolutely pink and troubled about the whole idea. The blush only perpetuated when he kissed her on the nose, and she looked at him with mock solemnity.
"A fever, huh? I guess you should lie down then! Wouldn't want you to waste away in front of me." Setting her sandwich down, and demurely adjusting her skirt, she suddenly lunged and tackled the young man into the quilt. Hopefully she had avoided mashing the sandwich into their clothes, but it was possibly worth it.
Possibly.

His sandwich was safe. Sort of. Swung out of the way last second to avoid a dijon mustard disaster. Still, as he fell, the sandwich was abandoned and traded in for something better. One Audrey. Arm wrapped around her as the teen laughed. "My, my. Already wanting to be the one on top I see." Elzo added the eye brow wiggle for effect. He kept his grip loose so she could wiggle her way off of him. He had an idea he might be embarrassing her, if only slightly.
"Hmm...You see, I'm so ill. I really think that trip to the beach is what I need doc, daily doses of my vitamin A. Pure shots of Audrey, right into the blood stream." He gave her side a small pinch. "Oh maybe camping. Hiking. Sailing. Flying. New York City!" Elzo's hand raised into the air. "Europe! England, Spain, France. Paris!" He laughter was booming. He remained on the ground, looking at the sky. "Paris, the European Vegas. Just with less casinos." The hand came down to run in blue curls. Elzo started smiling wider. It really didn't matter where they went, so long as they went together. A slow hum bubbled up, followed by lyrics from an old 90's song. A song about just that, about how traveling was no good unless it was with the one you loved.
It lost it's romantic notions the second he tried to openly sing the lyrics he could only half recall. Elzo was an abysmal singer, still he was trying at least.

Fingers stabbed lightly into Elzo’s side, trying to tickle him and punish at the same time for the comment of ‘being on top’. Her personality was fairly dominant of course, but there wasn’t going to be any of those shenanigans for quite some time! If ever. The idea that there might be some at some time made Audrey blush more than a little, hiding her face for a second behind blue curls and Elzo’s shirt front as he spoke. Certainly there was enough tension at times between the two of them…when the club was involved.
She smiled up at Elzo and all but purred when his hand stroked her curls, and she added in her own bombastic plans. “Italy. You have to take me to Italy, where you’re from. Or to a beach there! Maybe if you’re very nice to me, I will take you to the tiny, tiny part of Kansas that my family comes from. I am pretty sure the entire town is my whole family and assorted cousin branches, in fact. It’ll be great.” Sarcasm was heavy through good-natured laughter as Audrey’s petite body rolled off to the side some more, her head pillowed on his shoulder as he contemplated the sky.
Her ear was against his chest, so that when he started to hum it was a deep thrumming that was like an odd echo in one ear and then the other. When finally his voice came, Audrey could have hugged him, it was so awful. Elzo had told her that his voice was bad, and she cherished that he would sing for her anyway. Her thin, childish voice joined his in what melody she knew, though it wasn’t much. Somewhere above their heads, no doubt, birds were falling out of the sky in horror.
But they were happy, and that was all that mattered, right?
When finally the song ended, Audrey put her chin on a broad shoulder and blushed again. “You really want to spend that much time with me?” It was new, nobody ever really cared to be with her all the time. Certainly not boy someones, and Pasha didn’t really count. Pasha wasn’t a boy to her…Pasha was a Pasha! Elzo was special to her, and Audrey couldn’t ever really say to anyone that asked what she saw in him. To her, it was obvious.
It was gospel truth that nobody quite saw the world the same way Audrey Collins did.

He had a certain weakness for the tickling. Rolling side to side, begging her to stop, roaring and laughing and generally making a the park's seem more lively then it really was for that day. Still, under the sun, with Audrey Collins of all people, resting gently on his side...Really, there was nothing more perfect. Plus she put up with his god awful singing. Joined in even! It had to be a sign.
"I think baby steps first. Beach, then maybe a trip to your family back in Kansas, then vegas, followed by a rather extended stay in Europe? Hmmmmm?" His eyebrow was grooving and moving. "Baby steps. I say we hit the beach. I only loved that swim suit you wore and kind of want to see it again. You know. For old time sake." He chuckled, pulling her back on top of him like she was a living blanket. "I probably sound crazy don't I?" A smile sent her way. "But if I'm crazy, it must be because I am intoxicated. You're my girlfriend Audrey."
He sighed, closing his eyes. The word he'd thrown around for ages...it ment something for once. "I like it. Having a girlfriend. Having...well..having this. Having you. It feels right." He looked like he was at peace. "I've never felt like this before. And it's...amazing. Just amazing." Opening his eyes, that peacful calm of his face vanished under a warm smile. "You're amazing. I hope you know that."

There was a saying about how if something was too good, it couldn't possibly be true. But how could Audrey doubt the sincerity of the words that Elzo was offering her, the warmth and affection that all but radiated from his eyes and smile, strong arms around her slight body as it was held against his. Victoria could make all the comments she wanted about how boys only wanted one thing, but those things had never been remotely tried or considered - Elzo cared about her.
Very softly, a blush staining her face a hot pink shade akin to a light sunburn, Audrey wriggled her way up just a bit higher to kiss her boyfriend so very lightly on the lips, curls falling around their faces like a curtain to stain the light blue in front of their eyes. It was an innocent kiss, but one that said clearly that she approved even if she didn't agree that she was amazing. "You make me really happy Elzo. Really, really happy." She couldn't say what it was he did or why they clicked really well, but they did. It was unexplainable and wonderful and she was so very happy - even with the world falling down around them both.
"But I have to wonder...what in the world would we be doing in Vegas?" Shy but playful was her tone, golden eyes curious what he would say. Audrey wasn't stupid, she had a good idea of exactly what could be done in 'Sin City' and had a feeling that Elzo had done all but perhaps one of those things. After all, he had a reputation she had to break!

There was a low grumbling sound Elzo would occasionally make when she snuggled up close to him. A sort of male purr he would make as she would kiss him or give him a sign of affection in return. A rumble of contentment that would roll in the back of his throat when words failed him. And with his girlfriend is his arms, in the park, the warm air blowing on his face, a good meal in reach, and even the squawking of ducks in the background make him feel that bliss he didn't feel, or couldn't feel otherwise.
And to think, one person made it possible. One person could send him into that state of euphoria. Ah, utter bliss.
Her question of Vegas was answered with a smirk. "Well..." His hand ran a little south, just teasing. "The question isn't so much a what as a who I think..." There was a rather teasing laughter that ended his rather lewd comment. "But in all honesty...Whatever you want. They got enough resorts to fill a whole city basically. You want something, you can probably find it. If you can't...Well, I'd find a way to get it." His free hand went hunting for his sandwich. "MMM'kay?"
