That Clyde took so long to reply sent more paranoid thoughts shooting into Eustace's brain. He was ignoring her, challenging her authority with his insolence. That alone should have been enough to sent him to the infirmary, but Eustace kept her hands clasped behind her back, squeezing tightly to make sure that they stayed there. If Clyde was in contact with the city, then there was no telling what kind of consequences there would be for causing harm to the counsel's little minion. And of course, his greeting was the usual formal greeting, which gave her no hint as to what he had been doing before she arrived. Maybe he already knew about her stutter and he likely knew that she would come to that conclusion, luring her here under the false guise of ignorance to expose her stutter to the rest of the fort. That scoundrel! That miscreant! That wretch! He wouldn't get away with this!

She stopped herself right there, jaw clenched shut so that it wouldn't shake in misplaced anger. Eustace would not lose face on account of this villainous cur. "What... were you... doing?" she asked in slow, calculated words. They might be seen as authoritative and stern or the slow speech might be thought of as a precaution for the slow of mind, making sure that they had enough time to understand what she was saying. It was up to Clyde to decide which he thought it was. Either would be fine with Eustace. Then again, if he was privy to her stutter, he would know the reason that she spoke so slowly now. He should know, however, that it never happened when she was calm. While Eustace was calm, her speech was the same, and exuded a certain fluidity and grace that only the most elegant of people could accomplish.

It took little thought to decide the terms of the race. There was a track around the training field that would suit their needs nicely. If anyone else was there, then those would just be an obstacle for them to overcome. Being the larger wolf of the two (and the largest in the fort), it would be little trouble to jump over anything in his path. Having longer legs, his speed would also be much higher. LunarFlare supposed that he should go easy on her and let her lose by a few seconds, rather than by an entire minute. One lap around the training field. Anything more would be needless and excessive.

With the arrival of Peppermint, an idea crossed his mind and as an Alpha, it would be easy to enforce. He paid little attention to her greeting and didn't bother to reciprocate, since the next thing he said would communicate that he was aware of her presence. Peppermint, join us. His tone sounded as if it might be a request, but if she had a brain then she would comply. True, she hadn't been in the fort for any longer than an Apprentice might have been, but even she would know that resistance would be inadvisable. His idea was that the two females would race and the quicker of the two would race him. That way, at least, LunarFlare could feel like there were some prerequisites to challenging an Alpha, even for the most meaningless of tasks.

Clyde was not oblivious to the tenseness of his Captains arms, the clench and shake of her jaw. He could make no claims to knowing what she was angry about, he could not think of anything he had done that would cause this sort of rage from his Captain. Her words were slow, pointed, and they carried behind them the full force of her authority. Was she angry that he had stayed in his barracks for so long? What would it matter to her that he had kept to himself, he had not avoided any of the duties he had been assigned, he had not shirked on anything of late, and her had not interacted with his Captain in any way to cause this sort of wrath from her. What had he done that would cause this sort of anger from her.
He glanced down at the notebook and Spirit took the hint, covering the image with her paws. The work was not finished, he could not show it to her yet. "Nothing…" Clyde hesitated, thinking on how he was going to word his next sentence without causing further rage from his superior, "That is worthy of your attention Captain." His words were nothing less than gracious, each drawn out in turn so that the pause between his answer and his explanation would not be so obvious. He did not want his Captain to think him stupid or incapable after all. He was simply thinking, calculating his next move. His hands clamped behind his back, fiddling with the pencil he still held. Hopefully Eustace's anger would be satiated with the answer, though he could not for the life of him think of what he had done to deserve such wrath. He did not think he had spoken out of turn, or shown anything less than the utmost respect to her. Sure, Spiritfeather generally failed to lower herself to the Alpha, but that was because as small as she was she couldn't exactly go much lower. And anyway, didn't the wolves deal with themselves, why would Eustace be confronting him over Spirit's misbehavior?

Spirit gazed up at the unusual sight of Peppermint as she and her reclusive rider. The two had not been around for long, and the novelty of their transfer had worn off when people realized that they didn't want to be disturbed. GoldDust and her rider had also emerged from whatever hole they had been hiding in. Granted GoldDust's rider also generally avoided people, though the people he avoided were generally of the male persuasion and thus she had had little reason to interact with GoldDust. She never strayed far from Clyde's side after all.
Spirit did nothing more than flick her tail at Eustace's anger, but the signal from Clyde was obvious. Without making her movements to pointed or obvious Spirit adjusted her position to place her paws carefully over the notebook. She sought not to damage the work her Rider had done, only to hide it from unwelcome, prying eyes.

Aha! He was hiding it. It had to be something that he didn't want Eustace to see and therefore incriminating. Eustace was absolutely right to be suspicious. What was infuriating was that he was acting like nothing was wrong! Clyde was taking notes about his Captain, trying to make her lose her job and he'd been caught. He should be more affected than this. Eustace strained to keep her expression indifferent, but her eye noticeably twitched. Maybe this wasn't the best way to go about things. If playing coy wasn't working, then she may as well be straightforward. After all, she was the Captain. It wasn't like he could disobey her. Well, he could, but that was obviously not a good idea and if he did, she swore to herself that the next time she saw him, she'd shoot him in the kneecap. Be calm! Okay? Just relax! You will find out what he's hiding. Another deep breath. It helped a little and she became less tense, but there was no telling whether Eustace could rely on her voice or not.

Eustace would just have to order him to show her the notebook. It was that simple. Disobedience didn't even play into her strategy. She had respect for those who managed to become riders and by default, they couldn't be stupid enough to blatantly ignore the Captain's orders. Of course, there was always room to prove her wrong. Eustace held out her hand. "The notebook... S-show it to me!" A single word rang loud in her mind, No! That wasn't supposed to happen! Was this supposed to be intimidating? That single stutter! It would be her downfall. Hearing it, he would surely tell the counsel that she was an unfit Captain! And then she would be demoted to Sergeant, or even back to a Private! This couldn't be happening! With all of this about to happen, though, Eustace stood still, completely rigid, still holding out her hand, expression turned totally blank as if she'd gone through the biggest shock of her life. If he said a word to anyone, let alone the counsel, Eustace was going to kill him with her bare hands.

Clyde stiffened, the twitch of her eyes, her anger was growing. What had he done to deserve this? Her rage seemed to be growing so it must be something he had done within the timeframe of this conversation. As far as he knew he had shown nothing but the utmost respect to her, answering all her questions clearly and concisely, doing nothing to take up her time. But then she demanded his notebook. And something finally sunk in, what this must look like. "Forgive me Captain." He knelt down and picked up the book, examining it and cleaning and bolding a few lines quickly, "I understand what this must look like." He must have insulted her. She knew what he had been up to and didn't appreciate it without being informed. Most people didn't seem to like it when he drew them without asking permission first. He had made quite a few people angry in his days during the Academy and even back in The City on the occasions when he'd left his room to find new material amongst the markets and cafés. But the pieces where he didn't ask always turned out the best, but he'd made a few enemies and not to mention lost a few beautiful pieces that way.

After giving the sketch another once over he held the notebook out to her, "Forgive me Captain," He repeated, hoping his genuine sincerity would make up for failing to get his Captain's permission before hand, "I should have asked first, you can destroy it if you want." With a deep breath, and truly hoping she didn't chose to destroy it, it was an amazing piece if he did say so himself, he flipped the book over so she could see the sketch, "It's not like it's finished yes. I would like to put some color into it." The sketch itself was of Eustace standing tall beside LunarFlare, her hand resting on his flank. Though the pose was that of a proper Captain the expression of the piece was of a younger, more relaxed Eustace from before she had become a leader. Clyde completely ignored the stutter, he had heard it before and he could understand how she might not appreciate his mentioning it, he had an aunt who stuttered and absolutely hated it.

When he began speaking again, Eustace snapped out of her shock and looked down to see him... Was he taking notes again? Eustace glared as he added additional notes. He was intent on insulting her, wasn't he? That was fine. She was the Captain and even if she didn't know where his barrack was, she would find out, take her rifle there, and shoot him. Well, maybe not that extreme, but there was likely to be some abuse involved (which may or may not include exotic weapons and rope). The fort did need riders, not that there was a shortage, but the more the better. But Eustace hoped that he understood that any disobedience during battle could lead to some serious consequences. If he showed any insubordinate behavior, he'd either be out of the fort or punished severely for his actions.

Just as Eustace was planning his punishment out in detail, he repeated his -was that supposed to be an apology? As soon as he held the notebook out, she snatched it from his hands and took a good look at the page. Is this-? Her eyes widened. Eustace covered her mouth and nose, hopefully covering a bright red blush in the process. This is- All thoughts of punishment went out the window. With that kind of expression... A miniature Eustace smiled back at her from the page in the notebook, standing next to LunarFlare and touching him on his side. There was a prim and proper feel to the pose that she recognized as her own, but that expression. Why was the Eustace in this picture smiling? It didn't look anything like what she saw in the mirror and it was irritating.

Wait, why was he even drawing her in the first place? Was it some kind of diversion? Eustace turned away, holding the notebook at arm's length and flipping through the pages. There were no notes that she could see, not about herself anyway. Was this really what he had been doing all that time? Eustace frowned, turned the notebook back to the page with her portrait on it. With a stern expression, she held it out to him, but keeping a firm grip so that he couldn't take it back easily. "This." Eustace pointed to the face. "Fix it." It sounded strange to hear herself say that. Was taking away her smile really fixing her? For whatever reason, it made her sad.

At first Clyde thought she was going to rip it, and when she started flipping through the entire notebook he assumed the worse. She was going to take and destroy his entire notebook. Every written word, every laborious picture he had done this month. She was going to take it all away from him. He had found others quite angry with his drawings and sketches before, but never someone quite so angry as Eustace seemed to be as she tore the notebook away from him. But then she seemed to hesitate, as though holding back a gasp, covering his face as if attempting to hide. It was brief, but it was another crack in the shield she held before her. Another glimpse back at the cheerful if shy woman she had been as an Apprentice. Clyde allowed himself a smile for a moment, this was also a reaction he'd seen a few times when he'd shown his work to his subjects. Though most of him were angry, some of them were more pleased with his recreation of them, and some even asked to keep the piece. He would not deny her that, if that was what she wanted, but he would request to be allowed to finish it first. He found himself quite compelled to paint this piece.
But instead her expression settled to disappointment and anger again, and the smile faded from Clyde's face. He created art to bring a calm peace to the world, and in this case it seemed to be causing quite the opposite reaction. It seemed Eustace was disappointed in his work, and for some strange reason this saddened him somewhat more than the anger of people had saddened him before. The harsh gesture, the commanding words. It was obvious she had found a flaw in the picture, and it seemed she had been insulted by his mistakes. Quickly coming to the conclusion that Eustace wasn't going to release his notebook Clyde bent to examine it. Was there something wrong with the proportions? Had he failed to erase something? He could find no obvious flaws in the picture, sure it was not a perfect replication of what he had seen, he had only seen it for the span of a heartbeat after all, but he still didn't understand why Eustace was so insulted by it. "My apologies Captain," Clyde had discovered that the quickest way to appease a woman was simply to admit you were wrong, even if you weren't. There were some lessons being raised with nothing but girls had taught him, "But I do not see anything wrong. If you would elaborate…?" It wasn't a request, no he was not stupid enough to do that, it was a question. As if he was asking clarifications of when he had watch duty, he knew better than to request something from an angry woman.

Eustace audibly growled. Either Clyde was completely oblivious or he was trying to force the answer out of her. He must know that she would stutter while trying to explain what exactly was wrong. Did he think it was funny? Cute, maybe? What anger had left returned tenfold. So that's how it was, huh? Insolent wretch! Ingrate! Lowlife scum! Oh, if only Eustace had brought her rifle with her! Wait. There was an apprentice nearby with one. Yes, the one that she'd helped. What better way to teach an apprentice like that than with a real live demonstration on a moving target? Well, if Clyde chose to move. Eustace wouldn't know how on Earth he survived beyond the Academy if he didn't. She looked back. He was still there, still shooting futilely and missing the target completely. A wonderfully malicious smile appeared across her face as she faced Clyde again.

"I-i-i s-suge-suggest y-y-you g-get a head s-st-start, v-v-v-vermin!" she said, thrusting the notebook back onto his lap. Without any further words, Eustace approached the apprentice. Private Stryder would regret his actions now! There would be no more time to regret with a few pounds of lead coursing through his body. Eustace snatched the rifle from the shocked apprentice and aimed straight for Clyde's head. Eustace prayed he ran. This kind of worthless worm deserved to die the coward's death, trying to escape from a powerful aggressor. Eustace's smile widened to what could only be described as an evil grin. As soon as he was clear of Spiritfeather, she'd make her first shot. She didn't want his wolf to be an unnecessary casualty. Eustace had nothing against her, after all, and even if she did, that kind of punishment was entirely LunarFlare's department. Eustace wouldn't deny him that pleasure.

No longer sure what was going on, but certain that he did not like the grin on his Captain's face, Clyde scoured his brains for something to say, anything that would calm her down. But without really knowing what he had done to make her angry, as far as he knew asking for clarification, while being a cause f or annoyance, had never cause this amount of anger from anyone woman he had met. But something he had just said or done had sent his Captain completely flying off the handle. He was about to ask for some sort of clarification to his error, even though that didn't seem to be his best be right now if he was interested in living, but before he could make any noise what so ever a great force hit him in the chest and sent him stumbling back into the tree. Sliding down the trunk he could feel the bark tearing into his shirt and skin as Spirtifeather leaped to her feet. The albino wolf stood before him, growling at Eustace. Just above his beloved wolf's head he found himself staring down the barrel of a gun. Obviously whatever he had done had insulted her enough that she was out for some serious blood right now.

Scrounging for some sort of apology she would accept, her voice shook with anger as she informed him that now would be a very good time for him to run. But he hoped she realized that he couldn't really run right now, what with being pinned to a tree by an angry woman wielding a gun and a very angry wolf practically standing on him. Clyde's options were severely limited right now in what he could do. After all, he had learned one very important lesson in what seemed like such a short life. Never, ever, let an angry woman had a loaded gun. Unfortunately that was the very situation he had on his hands right now, and all he could think to do was grovel for forgiveness. "My sincerest apologies Captain!" Though he struggled to keep a calm tone his voice broke and shook, "Please, I do not understand my mistakes. But whatever I have done to offend you my Captain you have my deepest apologies!" Always one to wear his heart on his sleeve Clyde's terror shown clearly through his emerald eyes, his voice shook erratically as he pleaded for the woman's forgiveness.

Spiritfeather generally stayed out of human business, but this time this woman had threatened the life of her beloved. Spirit would not allow this to stand, and as Clyde stumbled back she stood up quickly, blood red eyes glaring down at the woman. A low and threatening growl emitted from her throat. She would face the ends of the earth for Clyde, and her would certainly face a petty human with a firearm. That meant nothing to her compared to what she had faced in battle beside her rider. Though the woman was the Alpha's Bonded Spirit did not care, any punishment LunarFlare could inflict upon her was worth it, she felt no ties to the pack anyway, anything he could do to her in front of them would cause her no shame or regret.

"One lap, sounds good," Firemoon replied. Her teal eyes scanned the their racetrack., taking in where everyone was. Lunarflare easily had the upper hand, since he was bigger. So if she wanted any chance at all she would have to rely on her experience. Her ear twitch when she heard Peppermint come near them. She half turned to look over the white and red wolf. "Hello, Peppermint," she greeted. She quickly turned back to Lunarflare, as she wondered what he had planned. He had pretty much order her to order her to join. "We are going to have a race," she explained.

After thinking for a little bit about what she should do, Keahi decide to head back to her barracks and do some reading. When she was about to reach the rows of barracks, she notice something was going on with Clyde and Eustace. She stopped and wonder what was going on. Shaking her head, she told herself that it wasn't any of her business. She turned to go once again, until she saw that Eustace took a gun from the apprentice. Now she didn't care if it wasn't her business, there shouldn't be any reason for someone to point a gun at other one of their patrol mates. She will just have to deal with any punishment she gets. She took a deep breath breath, before walking over to them. "Captain Eustace," she said.

Whether or not Angel was oblivious to the ruckus coming from where she'd previously identified as Clyde's perch remained to be seen but at the moment her attention was on the other rider. Nodding to him, a wry smile crossed her lips at the comment. Among the best, eh? That was certainly amusing. "Morning to you as well." She returned the greeting politely, with a smile. "Aaah as that may be, one must always practice lest they fall to ruin, no?" In truth Angel couldn't count the number of times she'd missed a shot in the pouring rain and nearly met her end on the battlefield. Those few times she'd been forced to rely on Willowpelt's senses more than her own. Unconciously her left arm shifted under the weight of the rifle. Later once she was away from the fuss of the training field she'd let her thoughts drift over the scars crisscrossing the limb and her back.

Willowpelt merely snorted at his rider and shifted to throw the woman off balance and thus silence the unwanted thoughts. Unwanted because really, he didn't feel like reliving those dozen or so moments when they'd almost been ripped in half by a stray centipede or a half dead and maddened wolf. Shuddering and pushing the memories away, a light rumbling chuckle sounded from the male wolf and he gave a slight shrug. It was enjoyable enough I suppose. He really couldn't lie. There were times when he wanted to dig a hole and bury Angel in it but there were also times when he was certain the woman would fall apart completely if he left her alone for a few moments. And what of you GoldDust? I trust that you're enjoying your morning?

Peppermint flicked her tail gently as told her to join the two wolves. Being a wolf with a brain, she knew right away that what was said simply was not a request, it was an order. Firemoon knew that as well and told her what she was going to have to do which frankly, she really didn’t want to. Looking at the track she took in everything that would provide an obstacle for her. Being on the smaller side, standing at just a bit under 16 hh, jumping the humans and wolves on the track would be harder for her then m any others. What she did have was speed, and agility that would hopefully allow her to dodge everything. Not that she could count on such a thing. Life was just not always fair as she knew.

However, there still was a person on her back who she needed to get off her for the moment. Dylan. Dylan. Dylan? The man was yet again lost in his thoughts. If he was going to do this while she was talking it would have been better to leave him with the apprentices who could bother him while she was away. With a tilt of her head, the red and white wolf turned her head and looked at her partner. Without a warning, she pushed him off, leaving him to fall with a light thump.
“Agh!” Dylan yelled in surprise. He very much hated being pushed off a wolves back, and he knew Peppermint knew that. Sorry, Dylan, but you really should stop spacing out. After all, most don’t realize that you’re spaced out. Except for maybe Derek, he could tell, she said with laughter dancing in her eyes. Turning away from her orange haired partner, the wolf moved closer to LunarFlare and Firemoon.

Grumbling, Dylan stood up and dusted off his pants. She couldn’t have nuzzled him or something? It would have hurt less at least. Not that being pushed onto the ground really inflicted pain on him. While he was fixing his slightly tossed hair, something caught his attention. The captain, who quite frankly he wasn’t all to impress by, had grabbed a gun and pointed it at another rider. The male was pretty sure the rider was someone he remembered from the Academy, but he wasn’t too sure. From another direction, a female rider was making her way towards where everything was going down. If he was needed he may jump in, but chance were he was only going to help the two privates. He did not highly respect higher ranking riders who thought fear was the best tactic.

Eustace had expected Clyde's wolf to jump in, though not as soon as it did. Before she had even turned back to retrieve the rifle, though its sudden aggression didn't distract her from her real target. The only thing Spiritfeather seemed to care about was the safety of her rider, given that she didn't make her move until she sensed some real danger. But while she understood that, Eustace also wanted to make it clear that she was the one in charge of the humans here and every time one got the inclination to be insubordinate, it was like a virus, infecting all of those nearby. To illustrate this point, another Private arrived, calling her name as if to reprimand her. "I h-hope you have a g-g-good reason for interrupting." Eustace gritted her teeth, throwing down the rifle and turning toward this unwanted disturbance. The rifle misfired into the snow not far off, missing every possible target nearby; trees, rocks, humans, wolves, everything but the ground. The shot had been a shock, but she didn't jump. After all, sounds like this were commonplace, especially in the training field. Eustace bent down, picked the weapon up, and examined it, noticing something about it that she hadn't before. The barrel was slightly ajar, just enough that even if someone was looking straight at his or her target, the shot was sure to miss.

With the rifle in hand, Eustace left the situation near the oak tree and approached the still terrified apprentice. With the stock in one hand and the chamber and forestock in the other, Eustace handed the gun back to him. "This was assembled incorrectly. Disassemble it, reassemble it, and get approval from your Patron before your next target practice." That would certainly explain why he missed the target every single time. Even students practicing at the Academy could manage to hit at least the outer ring. It was a wonder that the thing hadn't exploded in his hands. Eustace would have to have a word with the Drill Sergeant about this. Apparently, the quality of training there had greatly declined since she had been a student. True, Eustace hadn't been a perfect Apprentice- and she had the scars to prove it- but she had at least known how to correctly assemble her weapon... mostly. The apprentice's thanks came in in a barely audible whisper.

Looking back to the situation at hand from a different angle, Eustace noticed Clyde pushed up against the trunk of the tree. After a silent question to LunarFlare, that he was bleeding was confirmed. That kind of wound would be hell to clean up. Not only would there be chunks of wood in his skin, they were on his back. It was fairly early and though the doctors were always on call, something like this was no reason to wake them from their slumber in the hall. They were there for more extreme injuries, such as large gashes or accidental gunshot wounds. Having some medical experience (due to her many, usually minor injures as a result of poor coordination as an apprentice), if no doctor was already available, Eustace would make it her job to treat him. "Clyde," she said, using his first name to hint at some kind of friendliness. "I will accompany you to the Infirmary. Assure Spiritfeather that my... hostility has subsided." Eustace continued, pausing to search for a word to describe what had just happened. She faced Keahi again. "I'll see you in my office when you've had time to think up a decent excuse." And she'd better think hard about it because speaking to her Captain like she was a child was something that Eustace would not easily forgive.

LunarFlare knew his bonded well and had known that her thoughts during the commotion had just been another flight into the fantasy. A position of power had done nothing for her paranoia, that was for sure. It had always been there when she was an Apprentice, though subdued and never communicated to anyone other than LunarFlare due to rank and relative weakness. Now, she felt that any of her suspicious could be acted upon with the full force of her authority and in that, she was correct. Eustace had every right to to call out possible insurrections or attempts at mutiny if she had the sincere belief that it was true. In that respect, however, she was still in need of some education. Most of her accusations lacked any kind of discernible logic and more often than not, stemmed from actions that were completely harmless in nature. LunarFlare generally disapproved of these outbursts, as they reflected badly upon her and led to scared Privates doing stupid things, like scold or chide their Captain.

Another place where he disagreed was the lack of blame for the wolf, Spiritfeather. Someone with her background should know better than to threaten the Alpha's bonded. As soon as the female jumped up, growling, Lunar drew his chops back, revealing his sharp canines, glistening with saliva. A louder growl came from his throat, easily crossing the distance to the other wolf's ears. The human's only mistake had been crossing Eustace's line of sight while she had the time and patience to speculate, whereas the wolf had made a genuine threat on her life. If so much as one scratch was laid on her by Spiritfeather's claws, then he would drag her outside of the fort and let her try to survive there, in the snow. If she managed that much, then she would be lucky to plead forgiveness and return before the centipedes came in the spring. Although Eustace was calm now, the wolf's threat had not diminished. He kept his attention on her, acknowledging the two other females near him, but not responding.

Clyde hadn't expected for Keahi to jump in, but as soon as he heard her voice he shot her a thankful look. He would have outright thanked her had he not been slightly more involved in the process of fearing for his life. Eustace on the other hand seemed to be slightly startled by Keahi's interference, and tossed the gun aside. Clyde yipped as it went off, afraid that the gun was still coming after him. Once he realized that he was unharmed, other than the wood sliver sticking painfully out of his back, he breathed and audible sigh of relief. He hadn't meant for it to be so, but that was how it came out in the end and he immediately covered his mouth, afraid it would set off Eustace again. Considering he still had no idea what had set her off the first time it felt like was walking on thin ice, he wasn't sure what he could or couldn't say to keep himself alive. Thankfully the Captain seemed to ignore him for a moment, eyeing the gun intently before heading off back to the apprentice she had taken it from. Clyde took the moment to pull himself together, dusting off his notebook and making it was undamaged before he stood up himself. "Thanks." He whispered quickly to Keahi, after all LunarFlare and Eustace were both heading in his direction and he didn't want to get himself in any more trouble than he already had. He had left his Barracks for the first time in nearly a month and he had managed to throw himself immediately into chaos.

Eustace seemed to have calmed down slightly when she returned, but Clyde was not about to make the same mistake he had made before, though what that mistake was was still rather ambiguous so he wasn't quite out of this tunnel yet. When she used his first name he took that as a good sign, but he was not about to take it as an invitation of any sort. Instead he braced himself on Spiritfeather as he stood, wincing as the little wooden splinters wriggled and dug into his back. Spiritfeather knocked into him lightly, her subtle hint for him to get on her back. She wasn't going to allow him to be walking like this, not when it could cause more injury. But Clyde wasn't about to do that without the Captain's consent, she was already angry at him and he had seen firsthand what she did when she was angry. "I would appreciate it Captain Vinarin." Clyde nodded, he didn't really have any other choice. He really wanted to decline her offer, afraid of what might come next considering the mood she seemed to be in. But to decline her also seemed like a bad idea, in case it set her off again and cause more harm to him. He failed to see a tactful way to get out of this without causing some sort of scary backlash. "But if you have other things you need to do I'm sure I could get there. I'm sure being Captain is a very busy job." It was an attempt to get rid of her yes, but it was a very polite attempt, thinly masked behind genuine concern that she had other things to do than to make sure he got himself to the infirmary for a few scratches and splinters on his back. He was sure even she couldn't find something in that to be angry at him about.

Spiritfeather calmed as Eustace turned and stormed away. She ignored Keahi, though her rider wished to thank her profusely. Spirit had no concern for humans that did not threaten her rider. As Eustace returned though Spirit kept herself on edge, eyeing the woman keenly. She acknowledged LunarFlare's presence, but she didn't say anything to him nor did she lower herself any further, already standing at barely 15 hands it wasn't like she could lower herself much further. Instead she focused her attention on her rider, she didn't like the idea of him walking to the infirmary but he didn't seem intent on accepting her offer to carry him. She understood that he didn't want to anger the woman further, but she reserved the right to revoke his decision if she felt that he didn't need to be walking. Unable to convince her bonded that the splinters proved to be more dangerous than the Captain she simply eyed the woman and the Alpha warily, her tail twitching in irritation. She wasn't stupid enough to raise it, no she didn't see how a direct insult to the alpha would help in this situation, instead she tapped it insistently against Clyde's leg, letting him know that she was not pleased with this situation in the least.

Firemoon turned her ears toward the captain and the little situation, when Keahi enter it. Of course her bonded had to get involve, since someone was being threatened. All she could do was silently curse Keahi's over-protectiveness. Since it was human dispute, Firemoon wasn't going to do anything. Though that would easily change if Eustace decide to point the gun at Keahi instead of throwing it to the side. Since things were calming down Firemoon's attention briefly turned to Spiritfeather. She would have also come to her own riders need, but she probably won't have growled at the captain.

Her shook her head to get her thoughts back to the race and those she was going to race. "Are we still going to race?" she asked Lunarflare, since his focus on his rider. Of course she didn't know that he plans for her and Peppermint to race first.

Keahi winced a little at the gun shot. Normally, that didn't happen, but she kept thinking the someone was going to shot. It seems like the only thing the bullet did hit was the ground, which she was glad for. Hearing the Captain saying the she should have a good reason, made her quickly think about how she asked for her attention. All she had wanted to do as get her attention off of Clyde. She wondered if her voice sounded threatening to Eustace position of being the Captain. That wasn't what she meant, but in her rush and worry it could have. Watching her Captain go back to the apprentice, she heard Clyde thank her. "Don't worry about it," she whisper back, trying to give him a smile to reassure him. She waited until Eustace turn back to her. "Yes, Captain," she replied. She would probably head straight to her office, once she lead Clyde to the infirmary. She didn't really have an excuse, and she would most likely just tell her the plain truth. If she really wanted to give an excuse, she will just say that she had a question. Which wasn't really a lie, Keahi truly wants ask Eustace something.
