Finally getting aggitated by the pacing, Aidan nudged his head into Grinch's side gently. "Oh come on. What's bothering you Dad? You can tell me." He was hoping the still bigger green lion would answer him.

Grinch stopped, in one movement turning to look eye-to-eye with Aidan, his stance almost challenging, his eyes piercing, but the rest of his face without the same stance or glare and his fur not bristled. He took in a large breath, but instead of talking, he let it out with a huff of air. His toes stopped tapping, instead curling inwards. Then his body went entirely limp, like a moment after he huffed out the air, all his muscles also let go. Everything seemed to tell a story of just an old lion at the end of his strength, except that he still stood, his head still up, and his eyes still telling that his mind was ticking through thoughts.
"Aksel will probably also like to know." He finally said.

Aidan watched as Grinch moved around, lowering himself to the ground a bit, his ears back as he was glared at. The moment Aksel's name was mentioned though, he stood at full height, eyes small in a deep glare. His fur bristled as his teeth glinted white in the sun.
"Aksel is nothing to me but a distant relative...if that. He has no need to be told about anything. You are my Father. Not that...that...he abandoned me! Why should I care about him? Huh? Why?"

Now Grinch's eyes also fit the rest of his body, looking tired, sad, weary, and old. "Because pops like to know just how sons grow. You have a part of of his heart."

"He is not my Father. He's not my anything. My Mother is dead because he left." Aidan huffed, anger obvious in every muscle of his body. His eyes may as well of had flames flickering in them.

"That isn't the story he meant for you to believe, it's not true. Your mother is dead because of...of hearts too small. His is not small at all. He never gave up or tried to get rid of you, or spoke harshly to you, or did anything wrong to make you angry. You may be you for who he is, but you are not you for all he's done." He sighed, "And if by leaving he killed his mate, why do you leave yours? What is so important that you risk that by not being there? Are you doing wrong? Did he do any wrong?"

At first, he wanted to protest. The fire still burned brightly in him. But what was last said extinguished the flames instantly. He sat down, eyes wide for a moment. He'd done just what he always despised of Aksel for doing...
"I...but...he's still not my Father. You are the one that raised me. In my eyes that makes you my Father...That is how I'll always feel..." He closed his eyes tightly. "I'm not him...he's not me..."

"He's your father, but I am your Papa." Grinch acknowledged, though he felt ackward for doing so, he realized that it was absolutely needed in that moment. He came close to Aidan. "You own part of him whether he owns part of you or not. I owned part of you before you owned part of me. It is the same. It is only an addition, it does not change us."

Aidan opened his eyes and once again embraced his Papa. He hoped desperatly that the green male would return it or just let himself be hugged this time. "I guess...your right Papa. I just feel uncomfortable around him...but I'll try to talk to him..."

Grinch not only allowed Aidan to hug him, but gave a gigantic, strong hug back. There weren't words to say what he wanted to say---well, there were plenty of words, but they wouldn't come out of a lion like Grinch. He didn't know if Aidan wouuld review later and catch anything between lines, but he hoped so. He didn't want this to be an ending.
