Daughter of the Sun

Swimming the stream one sunny midday
Small child; daddy's good little daughter
Innocence shaming the new summer day
Current draws me into deeper water.

Deep dark water leading me to somewhere
Now the current is no longer my friend
Screaming, gulp a lungful of aqua air
Reach for the sky above; reach for sweet wind.

Glance at the sun through murky water
Father Sun dries up the streams fast current
Cinders in my lungs; understand slaughter
Takes time drowning in watery torrents

Wipes away my fears of the evil stream
Water recedes; becomes merely a dream.
