The Giants signed Rocky Bernard (DT, Seattle Seahawks). This was a good move, that gives them depth at the position. He's big, and makes big plays.

looks as if there have been an extreme amount of false reports this year. Take for example. Derrick Ward visiting Philadelphia this weekend. Never happened and looks like it wont. DAMIT!!!

The Giants signed Chris Canty (DE, Dallas Cowboys) to a 6 year deal, worth $42 million.
I'm actually not all that happy about this signing. Chris Canty is a very good player, he's big, and he has good character. But he costs way too much, and the Giants already have a defensive line with a lot of depth. This move pretty much took them out of the mix for getting Houshmandzadeh.
With Umenyora, Tuck, Kiwanuka, Tollefson, McDougle, Robbins, Cofield, Alford, Bernard, a few others, and now Canty...That's the best defensive line rotation in the NFL right there... But Canty will be the highest paid player in that list, and might even have to switch from DE to DT. Tempers may also flare, if Kiwanuka and Umenyora want to re-do their contracts. Maybe even a trade will loom.
The Giants spent too much money on Canty, and they could have filled bigger holes.

TJ Houshmandzadeh signs with the Seahawks.
...I wish the Giants would have made a move to get him. He would have made more sense than Canty and Bernard. Also, I'm pissed that the Giants reportedly turned down an offer from Ward to remain with the team.

This just in, Kurt Warner meets with San Francisco.
After leading the Cardinals to their first division championship since 1975 and to their first superbowl ever, Warner met with Cardinals division rivals San Francisco today.
Apparently Warner was offered a 2 year $20 million dollar deal to stay with Arizona, but wants to be guranteed a minimum $14 mil per season. And while Arizona is having a hard time committing to that figure, the 49ers, who still haven't declared a starting QB for next season have enough under the salary cap to meet Warners' demands.
After the meeting with the 49ers and taking a physical with the team, Warner had no comments for reporters.
Though Warner initially stated he would retire if he couldn't work out a new deal with the Cardinals, the prospect of teaming up with Issac Bruce for one more season is pretty enticing, and after Mike Martz was fired, the 49ers wouldn't mind finding someone to come in who might persuade the teams leading receiver last year to come back rather than retire himself.
Though this might seem ideal for Warner and Bruce, IF they decided to play for San Francisco next year, it would be for a team which this offseason is committing to building a Run first offense, So it might not be the best choice for either men.

Things don't look good for the Cardinals. It seems like the 49ers would be able to offer Kurt Warner a decent amount of money more that their offer. Warner says that he wants to stay with the Cardinals, but he might have to explore other options if they don't meet levels. If Kurt Warner really wants a shot at another Super Bowl, then he should stay in Arizona, and take less money.

Duke_619 Dude-LAP Former Giants RB Derrick Ward signed a four year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, worth $17 million. Thank YOU biggrin I'm mad that Earth, Wind, and Fire had been disassembled. What pissed me off the most is that the Giants supposedly turned down an offer by Ward to remain with the team, in a multi-year deal worth about $3 million per year. That's a bargain, considering how great our rushing offense was last season. The Giants still have very talented RBs in Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw. The Giants also have Danny Ware who looks promising. But I wish that New York could have kept Ward. Derrick was very versatile, and was the Giants' best receiving and blocking RB. The Buccaneers are also pretty deep at the RB position, so he might not get as many carries as he'd like.
