Not taking anything away from Pennington, but I think that Brian Dawkins of the Eagles deserved that comback player of the year award far more than Pennington. Dawkins missed more than half the year last year and had to deal with on the field and off the field distractions all year long. Then he gets to this year and he just flat out outplays basically every person that plays the Safety position and almost quite literally carries the whole defense on his back.

But Pennington was with the 4-12 Jets, was benched in the middle of the season, then was released when the Jets got Brett Favre, was signed by the Miami Dolphins, and then was a huge reason why they went 11-5 this season. That's worthy of my vote.

I know. That is why I said not to take anything away from him. I just thought that with Dawkins advanced age, the many years he has been in the league, how little that position is ever mentioned and with that being how much he is mentioned that he should have gotten it. But with that also, I dont have a problem with the vote for pennington.

I know, but I was just wondering why you'd think Dawkins deserved it over Pennington this season. Chad Pennington did so much for the Dolphins, after a pretty mediocre career. But Dawkins is expected to play well in every game, so it wasn't surprising or "comeback-ish" of what he did.

After last year, missing at least half the year with an injury, missing all training camp because his wife gave birth to twins 2 1/2 months premature, and then forcing himself back into action earlier than he should have after the neck injury and playing like a rookie the final 3 games? That is why I said that. And I know I am missing stuff here.

But comeback player of the year usually honors somebody who previously played bad while healthy. Having injuries and social problems to cause you to play bad shouldn't have any effect.

Well...two more NFL awards were announced:

AP Offensive Player of the Year - Drew Brees, QB, Saints

AP Defensive Player of the Year - James Harrison, LB, Steelers

thats sooooo much bullshit. anyone with 20 sacks should be a no brainer for DPY

Dont get your panties in a bunch. Harrison had single handedly won close to half of the Steelers wins unlike your 20 sack boy. Sorry, but you have to take that into context.

Although I think that James Harrison had a great season, and is a pretty good choice for the award, in my opinion, the Defensive POY should have been DeMarcus Ware, Cowboys linebacker.
