The way they sat and chatted now they couldn't be considered anything but friends. So was mostly just picking at the remainder of the kill with his claws. His father had told him not to play with his food as a cub but what did he know?
"Eh. Seems like everybody does that these days." Was he trying to be comforting? Maybe. So abandoned the kill entirely and rolled over, stretching his legs above him. "They're... you know, them. I don't talk to them too much. They just kind of are there. Sometimes I don't see them at all. You know, now that we're all older."
Personal conversation was taboo. What So asked next was the one thing they had both always wondered silently, but wouldn't ever dare suggest out loud, let alone outright question it.
"What are we going to do if we ever run out of rocks, Shwari?"
So and thinking, as usual, led nowhere good...

"Yeah, I know how that is."
His mother was probably occupied with other things, like his grandmother's new cubs or something. There were always cubs back home, a fact that he tired of rather quickly. He had lots of elder siblings and even more aunts and uncles, however it was hard to respect a cub as your aunt or uncle when you were practically an adult. It got tiresome entertaining cubs and letting them play all over him. It was much more entertaining to play these games with So. Sometimes they ended like this, which was nice on occasion. Their friendship was weird, but at least they could say they'd always be around. Just, they'd be around to kick each other's butt at their card games.
The question made him snort, though admittedly he had considered that possibility as well. But of course, he had the most logical answer in his head. "We'll just get more rocks."

So paused, and didn't say anything, both which were rare for him. Same as he'd lost track of the time they'd been waiting, he lost track of how long it was until he responded. He'd gotten lost in his thoughts. Also rare. He didn't allow himself time to think of things below the surface even when he had it to spare.
The male, full grown in body but still so young and willingly naive of the world at heart, chuckled quietly and nodded in agreement. "You're right. We'll just get more."
There were more rocks in this pride alone than they had days to live, he was sure.
And, honestly? So couldn't think of a better way to die.
