Alex Smith is still very young. He's only 24. Still very young. He can develop into a good quarterback given the chance. Norv Turner helped that. Then Hostler was just.... stupid... That really put Smith back in his development.

Anyway, Alex Smith won't be back with the Niners. They've already said if he's not the starter by the end of the season, he's not going to be back. Seeing as how he's in IR, it's impossible for him to get his job back. He'll have to do it with some other team.

Wow, I never knew about that. Didn't know the Niners would dump him after this season, if he wasn't the starter. San Fran will be taking a lot of heat when they release him, though...

Anyways, I don't know many teams that will take a chance on Alex Smith. Injuries and unsuccessful outings...
me too the only team I see him going to is the Raiders mrgreen

No way would Alex Smith go to the Raiders. Oakland invested a #1 pick in the 2007 draft to select Jamarcus Russel, and they haven't given up on him yet. He's only started less than a full year of games, and he's still developing. Russel has actually been playing decent so far in his young career, and he should be able to grow into a pretty solid QB.

...I really don't see any teams taking a shot with Alex Smith, besides maybe a team needing a backup. I actually wouldn't be surprised to see him stay in San Francisco.

Raiders could use him a little seeing Jamarcus Russel playing for the Raiders(he plays almost like O'Sullivan )Alex Smith will be going to the Raiders when his contract is over.

Do you get what I'm saying? Russel is still a very young QB, who has only been the Raiders starter for less than a full season. He still has time to grow and develop even more. In his short career, he's already proved that he's better than Alex Smith. The Raiders need a veteran backup if anything, and not a declining bust.

I wouldn't be surprised because the Raiders owner gave more Niner players chance so he will be a 3 stringer or a 2nd stringer. The 49ers need to look for the future for bright new QB that could take Hill's job.

But if Raider's owner Al Davis was fed up enough to release Pro-Bowl cornerback DeAngelo Hall (who signed a 7 year deal) midway through this season because of lack of performance, think of the short temper he'd have for Alex Smith. This move makes absolutely no sense.

Well then how are you comparing a guy who's just a tad bit better than O'Sullivan/Smith, to Tony Romo?

i think he ment the similar situations both players went through to get the starting spot

I guess...

...Although the bad offensive line had a lot to do with Bledsoe not doing well in Dallas. The 49er offensive line is bad, but not such a big reason to why O'Sullivan turned the ball over as much as he did.

Well Romo has a strong arm, but he doesn't really release the ball quickly. We haven't seen that too much, because the Dallas offensive line has always been good to him, giving him a lot of time. I think Cutler has the quickest ball release in the NFL.
