"Oh, don't be silly. It's never too late!" Brenna tossed her head and gave him a sideways glance. "And if you're REALLY dedicated to becoming a hero, you'd accept help from any soquili who offered it and work at any hour. Wouldn't you?"
The wind lifted her unbrushed, untamed mane and blew her forlock across her pale eyes. She shook the hair out of her eyes and scanned the skies - still all clear, but the breeze was picking up... maybe a storm was blowing in.
"Besides, tonight is a lovely night, don't you think?" She stretched a back leg and shivered pleasantly. She loved the cool darkness after the sun had set, and the quiet silver pre-dawn light. "You never know when the weather might change..."

Kublai took a moment to look around him. Well....if there was a way to do anything in the coming darkness, then he could try. Being brave was the first thing to being a hero, and he would have to overcome his unease in the darkness. He gave a little snort, bobbing his head again in agreement.
"Alright, then. I guess....it might work." He was confused on her hint of the weather, which only made him look up at the sky for an even longer time. Was she talking in riddles, or really trying to teach him something?

Honestly, she's really only intended to teach him about the different soquili breeds... but since he seemed reluctant to really train (and she couldn't come up with anything for him to do anyways) she figured she'd stick to the original plan.
"Don't worry, love! It's nothing hard! We'll just go for a little walk, and I'll teach you what I know along the way." Brenna nudged him with one wing and the turned. She broke into a graceful, long-strided trot and didn't look back to see if he was following or not.
"There are many different soquili, and if you're going to be a hero you'd best be prepared to face all of them, honey." Really! Why hadn't his parents told him all this? Even her own mother had told her this through the wicker of her basket, just before she left Brenna on her own...

Kublai stumbled for a minute, stunned that she would just take off without him! How rude! He frowned for a moment before shaking it off, catching up with her just in time to somewhat hear what she was saying. He caught the end of it better than the beginning, but he got the most of it.
Wasn't much of a 'walk', though.
"Different kinds like you?" he asked, more interested in learning this for himself than actually learning this for hero training. It'd be good to know more about everything, and the whole idea sounded better the longer he thought about it.
