I am in zone 7. I don't have a garden outdoors. When I move out and pay for my own house someday, I will have my own gardens, but as for now I grow Catnip, Kalanchoe Pinnata, Peace lilies, and I am working on an Avocado.

Me too, i live in Georgia so i have Georgia Red Clay, which pretty much only grows pine trees. Im DESPRATLEY trying to grow some grass, and its working slowly >_>

Catnippppp, if i had that growing, it wouldnt survive...my cat would gobble it up while we slept sweatdrop

Hey there, I was just wondering what time you began to plant, since we live in the same region (New Yorker), and I'm planning on starting my first veggie garden. That time is far off, but I'm such an early planner!

Early planning is good. I spend all fall and winter planning what I'm going to plant in the spring.

I'll start around february/march with seedlings and keeping planting all through spring and summer. Stuff like lettuce and radishes you can plant multiple times.

You should download some seed starting spreadsheets I made, they do all the calculating of planting time for you, all you need to enter is the frost date for your region.

I'm an early planer as well. I love looking on line at the seed catalogs. I love Johnny's Seeds. They are organic and always sprout. I'm about to start planning my garden for next spring. I have to start now because I have to make the planting bed. It gives the neighbors news paper time to breakdown and turn the grass to mulch so I don't have to dig it up.
My 7 year old asked for one thing for his birthday last year and it was apple trees. He got three. Maybe we will get an apple or two really soon. The birds love them and its killing him.
