Sirensong nodded. "Follow them Amberkit," she said. She glanced up and nodded at Mouspelt. This was definitely a prophecy.

"Yes Amberkit," said Mousepelt nodding. "Go with them." This prophecy was important, and it was Amberkits job to find out what it means. Mousepelt almost stopped him from going, as if she wanted to protect him, but she decided against it. It's a mothers instinct to want to protect a kit...but this is his prophecy. Not ours. She looked over at Sirensong and wondered if she felt the same.

Amberkit bounded after the cats, struggling to keep up with their long strides. His small muscles worked furiously to match the pace of the warriors and apprentices. He did not realize that he only followed them in his mind, and his body stayed in place.
The were climbing up a steep hill, away from four trees. He did not immediately recognize which Clan they were heading towards, but when the ground evened out and he found his paws tearing over the moor, he realized they must be in WindClan territory. They ran this way for quit some time; hours on end that seemed like many successive days. To Sirensong and Mousepelt, it would only have seemed to be a few minutes.
The group finally slowed to a trot as they reached a massive cave entrance. 'It's...it's mothermouth!" Amberkit gasped, who had never before seen highstones. The cats plunged forward, and Amberkit followed confidently. He had no reason to fear the dark; he had lived in it for all of his short life and afterlife.

Sirensong nodded. "What is happening now?" She looked at the kit with sympathy. Most cats didn't have prphecys this early after they enter Starclan.

Mousepelt's whiskers twiched nervously. I hope he's okay... Mousepelt glanced at Sirensong again, then back down to Amberkit. "What's going on now, Amberkit?"

"We're in a tunnel...I think." He was winding through a narrow passageway, letting his pelt and whiskers brush the rock wall occasionally so he knew when there would be a turn or a dip in the trail. He could hear the others in a narrow file in front of him, never slowing pace. He had heard many stories of highstones, and assumed they must be going to see the moonstone. He was ecstatic; after joining StarClan, he had assumed he would never see any more of the material world.
Sure enough, after Amberkit thought they must surely be miles into the cave, he could see a faint light glowing at the end of the tunnel. He drew back in shock; he had forgotten he was not blind. The group picked up speed with renewed gusto, and the light grew. It was not light such as you would think of sunlight; it was more like moonlight, thick and white, dying everything a radiant silver.
They stepped out of the narrow path and into a small cave. Moonlight came from an opening at the top, and it all seemed to draw into the large luminescent rock at the end of the cave. Amberkit needed to hide his eyes and blink quite a few times before he could really look at it. It was completely brilliant; like nothing he had ever experienced. It seemed to draw in all of the moon's light and proceed to let it spill forth, pulsing and flowing over the cave. It took light from the moon as the moon took light from the sun, and made it its own.
When he could finally look away from the Moonstone, his eyes were drawn to the base of the great rock. What his eyes fell upon there sent him into spasms of horror. He gasped and mewled, roaring and spitting in terror. His eyes were wide and terrified, and he stumbled backwards.

Mousepelt stared back in horror at the site of Amberkit's wailing. She knew she could do nothing to help him. She looked at Sirensong, twitching her whiskers nervously. She could tell; by the look in Sirensong's eyes, that she feared for the young kit too.

"Amberkit? Amberkit! You need to tell us what's happening, I'm sorry, but we need as much information as possible. Amberkit?"
Sirensong winced at the keening sound coming from the kit. "It'll be all right, it's just a vision. Amberkit, please tell us?"

"F-Fo-Fi-F-Fo....." He simply couldn't get the word out. Everywhere he turned, he saw red. He could smell blood, thick in the air, taste it in his mouth...it was everywhere. The only sense blood did not consume was his hearing, which was ripped apart by a tremondous snarling and barking. Combined, the blood and snarling formed icy claws of terror that ripped and tore at his heart. Pain pulsed through every inch of his body.
He was reliving his death.

"Amberkit!" Mousepelt cried. She was trying so hard to stay out of Amberkit's way. She wanted to protect him, to get him out of this frightening vision. "Amberkit! Speak young one! What do you see?" Mousepelt was starting to lose her temper. Her claws dug anxiously into the earth, and she had trouble keeping her pelt down. She shot a troubled glance at Sirensong, who seemed to already know how Mousepelt was feeling.

Sirensong returned the glance, before placing her tail lightly on Mousepelt. "Calm, Mousepelt. He is only a kit, and he will speak when ready." Turning to Amberkit, she meowed, "Amberkit, all is going to be okay. You must calm down and tell us." She moved her tail from Mousepelt to Amberkit in an effort to calm him.

After Sirensong's tail brushed Mousepelt's pelt, she calmed herself down. "You're right, thank you." she mewed softly. She figured that Amberkit was very frightened, and she wasn't helping him by getting all tense. She took a deep breath and let her claws slide back. Right now, it was Sirensong's and Mousepelt's job to calm Amberkit. "It's alright, young one. Everything will be fine." she purred, resting her tail on his pelt.

Their kind words did nothing to reassure Amberkit. He continued to thrash and mewl, though it wasn't the vision that was making him act this way. They were memories; memories of his last moments alive, his last few breaths. He only had to see the horrible red creature to trigger the flow, the wave of memories that crashed over him and left him struggling to break the surface, gasping for air.
In front of him, her scarlet red fur bathed in silver from the moonstone, was a fox. She was a fae, and had given birth recently. Two kits, eyes still sealed shut, were at her stomach, nursing. Their tiny paws kneaded at her belly. What was perhaps the most curious was the fact that the fae was asleep, with her nose pressed against the smooth surface of the moonstone. This was how leaders slept when they wished to share dreams with StarClan.
Could a fox shares dreams with StarClan, the ancestors of felines? If he hadn't been completely consumed by terror, Amberkit probably would have been curious. Certainly the fox's sleep represented a leader's who was communicating with StarClan; her chest rose and fell in a steady rhythm. Her breath was low and even. She seemed...peaceful.

Sirensong sighed. She was getting impatient with the kit, even if she had just calmed Mousepelt down. "Amberkit! You have the blood of warriors in you! Don't let your fear of anything overcome you. It is vitally important you tell us what is happening!"
An icy wind ruffled Sirensong's pelt, calming her slightly with its normalcy Sirensong sighed and sat on the ground, her anger gone. Amberkit would tell them in time.

Shocked, Mousepelt looked over at Sirensong. Sirensong has more patience than any cat I know... she sighed. "Amberkit, Sirensong's right. Just breathe, and when you are ready, you can tell us what happened. You aren't alone." This is a test, Mousepelt... she told herself. Don't lose you temper...he's just a kit... Mousepelt knew she would have to stay strong for Amberkit, and Sirensong. She glanced around as the wind whirled around them. She suddenly felt a pang of emptyness stab her heart. I know how you must be feeling, Hazelpaw. I can feel it too... I'm so sorry...
