Pouting severely, Harper had fixed a glare on the teacher, pointedly avoiding Jace, through out roll calling. His immediete reaction to Jace's 'outburst' was a fit of giggles that were cut short as his hand rose up in the air again.
"I REALLY don't feel good, yo! And your DAUGHTER has offended me with her crude and obnoxious words. I think you should excuse the rest of us and have a good talk with her."
Way to go Sunny, he really does listen to a thing you say.

Riley slumped in her seat, showering her bag down near her feet. "And you just wasted another six telling me that," she grumbled. She didn't see what the big deal was. She had come, hadn't she? Hell, if being late wasn't fine then she would just go home. It was no skin off her back. She leaned her chin against the palm of her left hand, her obvious disinterest in the class written all over her face. She flicked too fingers at Jace in a sort of lazy wave. Why did it have to be math? Ugh.

Dr. Darnell did not raise her voice. She merely said: "Miss Darnell, move to the back of the class, if you please. I also hope you enjoy your new detention appointment with the guidance counsellor. - Harper, I only remove people from my class for bleeding or dying, so if you are willing to do both I will be more than happy to send you to the nurse. Please take out your books and rule up a new page before I have to set you all more homework. Talking level is set to 'whispers'."
Jace saluted the class and Riley as she took her things and shuffled into a few chairs behind Antony, hopeful that she could at least still throw him messages.

"I'll do both, and if it gets me out of this hell I'll do handstands while I'm at it." Harper mumbled to himself, arms crossed while he stubbornly (and thus, very very slowly) sunk back down into his seat. It was becoming more of a pride issue now, woman! He knew he'd probably loose in some form or the other, but the last thing he wanted to do now was sit down like a wet puppy doing as he was told anymore. 'Sides the guidance counsellors were pretty funny.
So, instead, he kept his arms crossed and stared down at his chest, muttering things in a made up language, but which sounded rather foul none the less. Maybe he could do something to make himself sick... only now the problem was figuring out how. He decided to hold his breath indefinitely.

Antony gave Jace a dirty look. The little idiot had just ruined the setup. then he sighed and smiled at Dr. Darnell. "Dr. Darnell, you know she's had a very surprising morning, so you might not be so ah... rough on her?"

Riley left her books in her bag, not even making an attempt to reach out and get it. Instead she just gazed dully off across the room, her eyes only half open due to boredom. But she had never been able to sit still very well, so her feet were shifting once and a while and her free had allowed her fingers to tap along the wood of her desk. Ugh, what she wouldn't give to be outside instead! Outside, or math? It was obvious which should win out.

Manuela snickered quietly, reaching to pull her book from her bag. She had remembered to do her last homework assignment, not neatly tucked between its covers. "Miss Darnell, not to be rude but I agree with Antony," she piped up, "I know you're probably trying not to pick favorites but I think she's just frustrated." With that she crossed her legs under the table, tapping one heel against the toe of her boot.

Fully ignoring Harper and Jace's exploits, Delilah twisted in her seat at the sound of Antony's voice. She smiled a bit and lifted a hand to wave. Then, obediently, she turned back around and folded her hands atop the desk in front of her.
A hesitant tap on the door distracted everyone then and Ignacio came slinking in from the hall. "Um, hey," he muttered. "I guess my dad called about me being late and all? Um, I hope so."

It never rained but it poured. Dr. Darnell nodded wearily at Ignacio: "Your father left a message with reception," she said. "Please sit, Mr. Garcia. Compliment your father on his frankness and recommend he turn up the volume on his alarm clock."
She looked at Antony; she looked at Manuela; finally, she looked at Jace. "When I make a decision," she said, quite frostily, "I do not go back on it." Pause. "... But considering the united, democratic front being put up, I suggest that you - " this was aimed at Jace - "go and sit next to Antony, and hope his behaviour rubs off on you. We'll discuss the detention after class. Please pass your homework to a partner for peer marking: the answer sheets are up front."
Jace moved, once more, back to the seat next to Antony. He was a suck-up, sure, but obviously suck-ups could get ahead in life and she owed him one. "Score," she whispered to him, and gave Manuela the thumbs-up surrepticiously. (Thwomp was hovering worryingly over Harper, who still hadn't let go of the breath.)

"You should watch your mouth," Antony said almost silently. "Because as much as I adore your mother, I wouldn't be surprised if she put you in detention for life."
Then he smiled at Delilah, waving once before digging out his homework. It was already double checked and rewritten on a new sheet of paper, showing his work. He WAS a perfectionist, after all.

Bottom lip stuck out and face now a plump shade of red, Harper looked something like a white haired Oompa-Loompa. His stubbornness was no match for his lungs shriveling up like raisins and when he could take it no longer, he let in a loud inhale and slammed his forehead on his desk.
Taking a few seconds to let his colour return and head stop spinning, he took in another deep breath to rinse, wash, and repeat. Eventually he'd faint or SOMETHING and someone would have to let him go home, right? He considered trying to fork out some tears, but quickly decided Beatrix was evil and such would probably only humor her. Manny had ousted him in favor of abetting the enemy, Antony was being 'nice' to the evil one, and .. well, he hadn't done his homework anyway. He was a lone ranger, all he needed now was a Whitesnake soundtrack playing in the background.

"Hey Harper," Manny said quietly, "While you're busy dying you think you could mark my homework?" She slipped the papers out of her folder, offering them to her blue-faced friend. A sarcastic smile was playing on her face, both from the recent victory and amusement at his feat.

Ignacio slipped into his seat and tried his best to look innocent. Unfortunately, his face was just too inherently cheerful and mischievous and he failed entirely. What made it worse, though, was the sudden realization that everyone had brought out homework and he... had none. He wondered if Dr. Darnell would believe him if he told her the dog ate it. Testing his canines with the tip of his tongue, he wondered if she would believe him if he said he ate it.
Unfolding her hands finally, Delilah bent to retrieve her own homework from her backpack. It was neat and tidy... And written in purple colored pencil. Ah, well. She glanced over at Antony's, straining to see. She decided that she would have to ask Mommy to get proper pens and pencils in the house. Then she realized that Antony was already paired off and so was Manuela and who was to be her partner for homework? She pouted down at the paper, sighing delicately.
