Kurogane watched the two converse silently, merely arching a brow at the mage when he insisted on poking his shoulder repeatedly. he did silently agree with the fact that maybe being given a 'tour' of sorts of the area would be a plus in the search of any feathers that may be in this world. If there were any at all that is.

The ninja frowned at the thought, his tails flicking behind him in agitation, barely grazing the mage beside him. What if they were wasting their time here while something was going on with the kids elsewhere, where ever THERE happened to be.

His attention was grabbed by the question of their travels. It was an easy thing to explain, and the ninja took the time to be the one to be so blunt about it.

" We're hoping form world to world in search of something. The damned witch who sends us places screwed up again, or is playing some sick joke so that we're stuck here." His thoughts trailed on the kids. " Have you seen two kids by the names Sakura and Syaoran?" Perhaps with all of Rune's travelings, maybe she had.

A single ear lifted. A spell here and there? A small smile. Yes, that would get the job done certainly. A nod, accepting that explanation. There really were so many ways of 'arriving' as a kitsu. But then she lifted a brow as Kurogane elaborated that explanation. A witch? One who sends them places? Not a witch of the wizards' kind then. More importantly they were searching for something and missing ... companions? Her expression softened to concern even as the SeeD's face took on a thoughtful expression.

"Sakura & Syaoran?" Now why were those names familiar? Ah yes... the numa Mysidia had spoken once of numa cosplayers with those names. "I'm afraid I have not, though outside of those I live with I have not met many kitsu. I could ask my family to help look for them, as we have done for others in the past. You would want to find them as kitsusagi such as ourselves, am I right?"

There was a light frown on her features, still thoughtful, still concerned. "It might not be your witch making a mistake. Things... well not that things don't work the same here necessarily but when it comes to how we come to be kitsu ... that can take something more known and shift it." Another frown. "I have not phrased that well at all. It is a confusing matter from the best of lights. Perhaps if I knew more about this witch sending you places... Are you saying you are accustomed to traveling worlds, realities, or dimensions?"

Things the White SeeD would not have once thought of but now discussion of which was fairly commonplace for her, Rune attempted to cover her bases. Hopefully she would not frighten them away with such talk -she was enjoying the od conversation for what it was worth. Not to mention succeeding for the moment to be fully distracted from the neverending circle of her own thoughts.

Fai could interpret the aggitation felt in the black tails of his comrade as they brushed about. Or course, always that bitter taste of wasting time. There were still two other traveling partners of theirs that they must locate. And Mokona as well. It was these dwelling thoughts on their comrades that kept Fai hushed as Kuro went into traveling details. If the others weren't here, then they had no choice but to sit and wait, as painful as that may be. Just where were they? Or at least Syaoran and Mokona, since they already knew what happened to the princess...

Ears tucked low in gold locks and the male smiled cheaply to the two before him. What were they talking about now? Bright blue eye blinked to the strawberry blonde female, head tilting lightly. There were Syaoran's and Sakura's of this world's versions? Yes, they had been told that the situation as such may occur. But not the friends they were looking for, still. He could only shrug to Rune, assuming they would also be kitsusagi, just like themselves. And that the correct traveling partners would make appearance.

One paw gripped loosely at his elbow, pondering how to help Rune in the description of what she was trying to understand. "That is true, we've collected many souvenirs on our journey." He couldn't even keep count of how many worlds they had crossed. All he did know was which world was next. And even if they had business to attend to there, Fai felt guilty in enjoying their brief calm allowed in this world. If they must....he'd contact the time witch with his own magic. Still...

Kurogane's ears folded back against his head, his frown turning into an expression of worry. He hoped the kids were alright, and it killed him to have to sit here and wait. Sure they could roam around constantly searching for them, but staying put helped when they got stuck in Yama. His face drained of all expression, his tails curling slightly around the mage as he was momentarily lost in thought.

" We don't usually get separated,' he explained. There was no doubt in his mind that their current forms were either the work of this world or some sick joke played by the witch. But considering the circumstances of the last world they were in, he figured it was this world. Even the witch knew when to not play games. He glanced at his tails being around the mage and flicked them back behind him with a huff. He needed to pay attention better.

Oh dear. Now they were worried more than ever. Rune's lonely heart ached to see it. Pale green eyes flicking to Kurogane's tails momentarily around the mage -at least they could take solace in each other's company. It warmed her slightly and she glanced away to not show she had seen, a gloved paw going to her maw to cover the hint of sad smile that threatened to form & curled the corner of her mouth a trace.

"The problem with finding them... is they may not be here. However if they are here... they won't be leaving. I've not heard of anyone successfully returning to the life they once knew. It's like we're taken from what we were, to live here. Many worlds, many 'befores' as my 'family' calls them, many backgrounds, all together in this world. We're changed... yet we're the same."

She only watched them from the corner of her eyes, thoughtful. "At least you have found each other. Some are not even that lucky, to have someone to share with who knows where you have come from." oh this was not helping lighten moods. Turning her face back Rune smiled sweet and warm. "But don't worry. We'll find them." It was easy to say, to volunteer to look for their missing friends. Honest too, for she and her family would do their best.

It was safe to say that Fai was known for balancing his priorities. What he'd notice and what he'd choose to ignore. And this moment, his smile was faint and hard pressed, attention kept well on Rune. "So we're trapped here, is that what you mean by no leaving?" Surely his magic could send them out, right? But that was a last resort by far, only being used in world at this point of time. His own paw moved to his mouth, black sleeve loose and bundling at his elbow. So it was just like Yama. For all they knew, the boy and the princess may have to endure many worlds before getting to this one.

A cheesy grin spread on Fai's maw as he peered between Rune and Kurogane. "Hyuu, Kurorin's a good puppy. Never strays far off." It was ture that it was lucky, but in a cursed form. And no matter how Fai tried to shake it, Kuro held firm and stubborn. "Does Rune-san have someone too?"

They wouldn't be leaving?
The ninja frowned deeply at this comment. Sure it was a worry of his that they might be stuck here and the kids would be on their own, but having someone else actually say it, brought it into even better focus. Kids aside, what about HIS princess? What about getting back to his home. He eyed the mage as this thought passed his mind. Did he even want to go home?

Kurogane huffed at being called a dog again as well as with frustration at his own thoughts again. It was true to an extent, the mage would have to work very hard at getting away from the ninja. He smirked angrily at the thought. Like a loyal dog.

Her smile was soft and somewhat sad as she nodded lightly to the first question. "As far as we have been able to tell. But a trap is how you make it... many see it as a chance to live their lives differently..."

She was putting off answering the second question, her heart feeling heavy. Her pale green eyes did not bother to hide both her happiness and private pain. "Yes and no." Her soft voice was almost inaudible for volume if not for it's clarity. "There are others from my 'before' here... but either we are from different realities of that world or I proved too good at not being noticed." A slight smile and shake of her head. "We know the same things though, even if they're in my memory but not I in theirs. That's something."

Her smile was a little too happy for how she was feeling and after a brief sparkle it diminished, Rune's head tilting in curiosity. A look of confusion wrinkled her brow for a moment only to disappear as Rune shook her head lightly at herself. "I'm sorry if I've upset you about your friends or leaving. If you wish to leave that badly I do hope for your sakes you will be able to. Just because we know no one who has does not mean it is impossible..," Again her voice trailed off. What was it with her today and the unfinished sentence?

Fai sobered down to this new realization of this world not being....well, exitable. Something must have went wrong between his own and Mokona's magic to have landed them so far off course. Blue wings ruffled and resettled behind him to that thought. "A chance?" As lighthearted as that sounded, they couldn't allow themselves to simply relax. Not when the younger ones were missing, the mage wouldn't allow himself to live differently.

Rune's story touched deeply for the pale male, as he could almost envision her situation in the lightest of tones. Like the time Kurogane met his princess in the Pifle world. And his own short glimpse of sweet Chii just the world previous to this one. Fuzzy ears moved forward from back to the female's voice. Too good at not being noticed? The ground scraped under his black boots as the mage smiled his way over to Rune. His own paws clasped her warmer, gloved ones together and his tails wagged happily behind him. "No need to be upset. But thank you for that information." Fai shook his blonde locks while his blue gaze meet the soft green one. "How about we go to the cabin and have hot chocolate?" Head tilted as he peered back merrily to Kurogane. "Kuroruu! We want hot chocolate!" It would help keep everyone's thoughts up, no?

Kurogane frowned at the pain that crossed Rune's features. Resisting the urge to smack the mage for asking her such a question, he simply glared at him, tails flicking angrily behind him.

However, now was not the time to be pondering in sadness about their current predicaments. They figured out the basics of their situation and whether or not someone had seen the kids. Change of topic was in order.

The ninja stared at the mage in wonder. Hot chocolate? Sure they had some back at the cabin, he remembered being begged into getting the mage some a while back.

We want hot chocolate

The ninja huffed, pushing himself up from the ground. The mage knew very well that he wasn't fond of the stuff, but for some reason always insisted on the ninja making it.

" Fine," he muttered. " I'll make you some damned hot chocolate..."

"There's always a chance, is there not?" Her voice was still soft, that barely a whisper yet so clear it could still be heard without straining. It was rhetorical, of course, for continuing that train would result in a never ending circle like her thoughts. So the distraction had brought her full circle in her thoughts as well. Really... it was not so very surprising. But... Hot Chocolate? The sadness in her eyes faded to the background hint it usually was as her strawberry tipped tails wagged gracefully behind her. "Hot chocolate does sound wonderful."

A smile for each of the two males, almost giggling like a young kit with a sparkle in her eyes for Kurogane's gruff capitulation as she too rose. "Shall we fly?"

Light green eyes looked up with a smile at the sky above them. It was a true joy for her -the only thing that succeeded to clear her thoughts.

His face softened when not strained over smiles, blinking to Rune. Was there always a chance? Maybe. Too many years had been spent in his astranged childhood for him to honestly believe though. And thinking too hard would only cause the two of them unneeded headaches. And Fai could only twitch a ghostly smile, feeling an odd connection with this green eyed kitsu. Sorta like he had with the princess...

The male reacted joyously, swinging about and glomping Kurogane's arm. He didn't know why the ninja was being so considerate, considering he was normally agreeable and nothing more. Fai didn't want to ask though, nor ponder it too long. "Yay! Nice hot chocolate at the fireplace and big blankets!" And the ninja could even substitute as a pillow! Fai smiled brighter at the near giggling, and nodded to her proposal of flying there. He didn't even realize it was similiar to a nuzzling with how he was posed. "Hyuuu, that'd be wonderful. Flying practice is still something we need to overcome." Sad but true, at least maybe for the mage. He could only endure long glides at most.

A faint blush danced across the ninja's face as he realized the mage was snuggling him in public. This was to be easily remedied.

" Stupid mage..." he huffed and took a few steps away from the mage, spreading his blood splattered wings wide as he prepared to take flight. He had to admit though, going back to the cabin where it was warm sounded like a great idea, so he didn't argue too much with the act of flying to get there faster.

He puffed out a breath before he darted off, launching himself into the air with a few powerful beats of his wings, smirking to himself. He was getting the hang of this it seemed, and he knew the mage wasn't too talented at it.

....Now which way was the cabin again?
PostPosted: Wed Nov 28, 2007 10:32 pm

"Sure. Big blankets too." An 'awwww' smile warmed the SeeD's features catching sight of the nuzzle-hug. It was so nice to see affection. In truth, her 'family's' tendency to hug and otherwise show affection was quite likely why she did not feel worse about her prospects than she did. Still even that was bitter sweet... knowing that was the extent of affection she was likely to ever know. She was too steadfast to ever love anyone else...

Shaking her wings out she let the lifelong dream flutter in heart & mind like an old blanket, comfortably there though the softness had grown scratchy. It was still a comfort at times, oddly enough. "You need practice? Then you really are new here. Your wings may know more than you do about flying. At least... mine did." Offering a shy smile she felt for the winds first, testing them before lifting herself and flapping with sure strokes into the air after Kurogane. A moment, glancing around to double check her bearings & see that Fai was airborne too. The Mountain cabin was the closest, and as the males already knew it certainly the best choice. She knew of other cabins, but it was not to presuming to deduce that Mountain HQ was the one the mage spoke of. Kurogane's huff of 'stupid mage' repeated in her head making Rune smile. It reminded her of when the feather tailed Seifer was 'angry' or worried about his 'little sister', Relm. Almost affectionate. Perhaps she was reading too much into it. Her shoulders shrugged beneath her parka as she angled towards the Mountain HQ. Was it so bad to enjoy seeing others show even hidden their feelings for their friends? Even if she perhaps imagined it? Rune with her gentle heart did not think so.

The presence beside him left with a mutter, and Fai only waved byebye to the black-clad ninja. Never failed, did it? Seemed there was more than one way to skin a cat, or puppy. Smile was turned on Rune, blonde hair feathering acros his face. "Eh? I guess I that does make us fresh to this world." And he must agree with the female, the wings did seem to know more of their own use than the mage did. Better to listen to them instead of struggling to control all its functionings.

A soft wind kissed and lifted at his coat tails, him watching as Rune too left the ground. See, and she didn't even need a running start like the male's had been doing. A truly natural flyer, at least now, after graceful practice. Fai giggled, noticing how the two in the sky now looked like minimized specks. Guess it was his turn. Swirling blue feathers spread out from his back, stretching and feeling the nippy air around him. Skipping a short start, the male hopped in the air and his wings began the work. After some flaps, he was far enough from the ground to allow a repetition of glides. Even with a large blind sight to his left, the sight was still womething to enjoy. Now off to the cabin! Sending a "Hyuu!" to Kurogane and Rune, the mage glided lightly and lowly in the general direction of the building.
