EmoKittie999 What's next? Librarians won't have to check out books about sex? People in restaurants won't have to serve people who use birth control? Teachers have the right to refuse to teach girls sex ed? This pisses me off so bad! *shudders at the thought of this and is reminded once again of "The Handmaids Tale"*

MGadda You know what I'd like? I think if these pharmacists are going to refuse to perform their job function, they ought to be marked. Like, they have to wear a highly visible patch or tag or something (perhaps scarlet in color) so I can tell who is there to help me and who isn't. And I think if I were there for any medication whatsoever, I would make a big fuss about not getting assistance from one of those pharmacists. Hmph! Yeah! It should be a big scarlet " A", but it doesn't stand for "adultery." Peppermint Schnapps this crap is like a fast food worker refusing to serve a fat person because they are morally opposed to fatness or an Amish person working at a ******** Best Buy. rofl Can I use that in a sig or something?

Peppermint Schnapps this crap is like a fast food worker refusing to serve a fat person because they are morally opposed to fatness or an Amish person working at a ******** Best Buy. well, sorry to say, but a lot of fat people eat at fast food. just the same, a lot of women pick up contraceptives at pharmacies. if i had refused to serve fat people at Taco Bell i would have been fired. on the other hand, i'm not a self-righteous idiot so i wouldn't have taken a job that i knew would entail me doing something against my morals on a daily basis. hmm, i think there's a concept hidden somewhere in my post. I actually know a Christian Scientist who works in a pharmacy. Yet her religion doesn't seem to interfere with her job. It's not like in the middle of ringing someone up she says "sorry, I can't let you buy that cold medicine, my religion takes a firm stance against it." I also doubt she refuses to put medicine on the shelves or tell people where it is because of her religion.

"I'm sorry, I can't serve you. My religion expressly forbids serving black people."
Insta-fired. Or, at the very least, brought up on discrimination and scolded.
"Meat goes against my moral values. You can't get any hamburgers in this McDonalds."
Fired even faster than the first.
"My moral values are against dispensing Plan B."
You get judicial ********.

It's pretty ******** sad when a woman who does her job in a hospital gets fired because she's poor*, but assholes who won't do their goddamned job get protection from losing their jobs! What the ******** is wrong with you, America?!
*A woman who used to work in the blood bank at Summit was fired because her shoes weren't new and because she didn't "dress right". Her son and grandkids kept stealing all her hard-earned money, so she couldn't pay for nice things.

They think if they expect people to be rich, they'll be rich. If you withhold Plan B with the expectation that people just won't have sex, people just won't have sex.

I seriously hope they make some sort of law that forbids enforcing your religious/personal beliefs on others or interfering with the rights of others based on religious/personal reasons. There is something ironic about a Christian Scientist being in a pharmacy. But it's good to know that she doesn't enforce her religious beliefs on others. I wish more Christians were like that. But yes, usually refusing someone anything especially dealing with race/weight/sex leads to an automatic firing. However, it seems perfectly fine to deny someone based on religious rights... technically, according to that reasoning, a Christian can deny selling anything to a Wiccan or even scissors for cutting hair to a woman or even pants for a woman (there are two Bible verses that deal with these one states a woman must dress like a woman and another that states a woman's hair is her glory.... on whole other not, sorry for going off topic but then shouldnt the women cut their hair if it is that important, cause it gets frayed and ratty when it gets too long without a trim every now and then?) I got a huge talking to from a manager for throwing away a religious tract cause I apparently "violated the customer's rights".... Why the hell do I get in trouble for that but that same person can deny selling birth control?

I mean, racism and sexism are supposed to be dead, or at least illegal, but they're alive and well in one of the most developed countries in the world. :/ Also, I'd be ******** about the whole a woman's hair is her glory thing... XP Come to Ohio where racism and sexism are accepted widely, especially in the counties that are the most conservative. Trust me, there is a link between conservatism and racism/sexism. Despite the first amendment protecting the rights of everyone despite their religion it seems it's more read as "We'll respect your rights as long as you're Christian"....

Bear in mind all the people who are like "Our country is based on Christian laws and ideas!" I mean, what, do I know their country better or something? The USA was founded on the idea of RELIGIOUS FREEDOM. I mean, that doesn't stop it from being an 80% Christian majority or anything, but, y'know... RELIGIOUS FREEDOM?!?!?

EmoKittie999 Teachers have the right to refuse to teach girls sex ed? Welcome so abstanence-only sex ed, aka "omfg, if we don't tellz t3h students about safe sex, then they will neverz have sex, lolz!" Lord Setar It's funny that if I order a hamburger, someone who's Hindu can't refuse to serve it to me because they believe cows are sacred, yet this s**t is allowed to happen. I wonder what would happen if I did that at a fast-food joint and drew the parallel - if pharmacists can refuse to hand out EC due to personal reasons, fast food clerks should be allowed to refuse to serve hamburgers for the same reasons. That would make one hell of a court case. I would love to see how somthing like that would fly. crystal_pepzi MGadda You know what I'd like? I think if these pharmacists are going to refuse to perform their job function, they ought to be marked. Like, they have to wear a highly visible patch or tag or something (perhaps scarlet in color) so I can tell who is there to help me and who isn't. And I think if I were there for any medication whatsoever, I would make a big fuss about not getting assistance from one of those pharmacists. Hmph! That's ******** genius! They should have a website made where pharmacies can be rated by how cooperative their pharmacists are about filling out prescriptions. That way we could boycott stores with low ratings and not worry about driving ALL the way up to get a prescription only to be refused at the counter. Plus it would put pressure on the pharmacies to hire workers who are actually willing to do their job. A database like that would be really awesome. Though I don't know how to do the coding so people can post comments and ratings of different pharmacies (though if I took an afternoon to look into that, I could probably figure somthing out), I do know enough HTML coding and whatnot to be able to make a website like this without a fancy system allowing for ratings and comments. If anyone would be interested in actually putting this idea into practice, I'd be more than happy to help with it. 3nodding
