If abortion were outlawed today and illegal abortionists started springing up next week, every one of them would be someone who is pro-choice. In fact, every woman who was ever killed or maimed during an abortion – whether it was legal or illegal – was killed or maimed by someone who was pro-choice. In other words, when the abortion lobby says, “If abortion is made illegal, women will die,” what they’re actually saying is, “If you stop us from killing babies, we’re going to start killing women.” Oh my gosh! XDIf it's any consolation, this exact quote was featured on Fundies Say The Darndest Things a while ago! For those of you who haven't heard of it, FSTDT is a collection of quotes from crazy religious fundamentalists all over the internet. It's basically a place where you can look at, laugh at, and sometimes cry at the horrible things people have said. Here, I'll try to find it.... AHA! And how freaking original, too, the source credited is different from prolifeamerica.com--Somebody's a copycat! FSTDT Comments on this quote.Hey.... one of my comments is on there! (See "Sayna", last post on first page.) I visit FSDS so I can get a good laugh/cry, depending on the sheer stupidity of the quote. They even had one from gaia on there, too. I'd like that man to explain to me rape, then, 'cause that's just NOT TAKING NO FOR AN ANSWER. b*****d.
I thought they didn't mean Bette Davis... but they quote Judy Garland (and spell her name wrong) and I'm pretty sure they were both old/dead when abortion became legal.
Also, Sharon Osbourne was FORCED into it by her mother. And she only got a 'stitch' in her cervix because she was famous, most people don't get any explanation or treatment if they keep miscarrying. Unless they have like five. Unless someone could tell me otherwise, since I haven't backed this up at all.

We should let all these bible-thumping pro-lifering' assholes collect in one mid-western state so they can leave the rest of us alone!... if only we could agree to which state that would be!
... Nebraska? Kansas? Missouri? Iowa? What about the Dakotas? Let's pick somewhere lame and boring enough for all of them to live in. xd

Sadly, though, I think they outnumber us. The nation seems to lean really close to "fundie" most of the time. I've heard them say the same thing about liberals and such, and since we're out numbered I think it'll happen the other way around.

I've heard them say the same thing about liberals and such, and since we're out numbered I think it'll happen the other way around. I'm just hoping that Huckabee is not going to win. If he does, off to Germany/Canada for me. stressed

People need to understand this: You can be a feminist and find abortion morally wrong. You can think it's bad all you want. But you cannot say that since you find it wrong all women should be barred from it and still be called a feminist. That viewpoint is anti-equality and downright insulting to women. A true feminist understand the importance of legal abortion, and he or she respects the rights of all people to make their own medical, moral decisions.

I was tired last night. ninja But you're absolutely right--that's certainly not a very positive way to look at pregnancy. IT'S A TRAP!

I do believe that the people in power are remnants of a past age, sort of that "Boys club" mentality, and don't truly vote or represent the peoples wishes but try to force their own beliefs on everyone. I think the majority of Average Joes agree with us for the most part. It's just that the people in power are still stuck in their own little world.

RMarques Also, if the motivation for legalized abortion really is to save the lives of women, why don’t we legalize rape? After all, it is not uncommon for a woman to be killed by a rapist to keep her from identifying him to the authorities. Legalizing rape would save those women by taking away that motivation. We could also set up rape clinics where rapists could take their victims. These centers could offer clean rooms, condom machines, emergency contraception, and perhaps even doctors on staff in case the rapist injures his victim. We could even issue licenses to rapists requiring them to undergo routine testing for AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases. Remember, the pro-choice argument is that women are going to have abortions regardless of what the law says, and that keeping abortion legal will make sure they occur in a clean and safe environment. Those dynamics also apply to rape. Keeping rape illegal has not prevented women from being raped, so why not at least try to prevent back-alley rapes? As ridiculous as this suggestion is, if the goal is saving women’s lives, it makes as much sense as legalized abortion. I don't even know how to respond to this. This pro-lifer actually makes me want to kill babies.

(I love my grandparents dearly but hate the rest of my family) But seriously I doubt they outnumber us. They're too...stupid to really do anything serious and if we do get a democratic president that wouldn't of happened. But unfourtunatly we have a president and a Supreme Court full of bible thumpers who want to try and take our lovely little democratic little nation into the U.S.S.R the only problem is that they're too ******** stupid to do it. They think that woman are slaves. We have no ******** say. Whatsoever and those ******** dumassed pro-life ******** traitors want is to turn things back to the 1950's. In other words it's Texas politics. It is the 1950's (or at least it feels like it) in Texas. *meditates and takes a deep breath* Sorry I kind of lost it. This kind of thing really gets on my nerves along with gay rights, and freedom of speech.
