[Jenny :: The Carribean :: Black Pearl Lower Decks > On Deck]

A smile came easily to Jenny's face in response as Kyle spoke, though she could tell that his smile was a little off. Then again, she was pretty certain that her return smile would also be a little forced no matter how easily it came to her face. What an oxymoron. Then the edges of her mouth twitched downwards as she continued to follow Kyle through the ship.

Why was he apologizing? Jenny shrugged her shoulders and her gaze flickered momentarily to the side as she thought about the Flying Dutchman and how shocked she was to stare Alice in the eyes and see herself staring back but she highly doubted that Ajora had anything to do with the way Alice worked, or maybe she was just blindly hoping it was that way... not that it mattered, it wouldn't change the way Jenny thought about Kyle or any other the Earthlings that were unfortunate enough to have replicas.

"Now it's my turn to say that there's no need to apologize," The mage chuckled, "Whatever Alice is ... I'm sure she decided it on herself. Even back in Narnia, I felt that she was different..." her voice trailed off as she tried to describe whatever her instincts were telling her back when they found the little girl clinging to Queen Susan's dress, how Siren had chosen that specific moment to reveal herself. Jenny shrugged again, failing to find whatever feeling she was trying to voice.

"Either way, you have nothing to apologize for. I don't even know how she came about. She wasn't made like the other replicas, maybe I did something wrong along the way but not you."

[ Kyle : Caribbean : Pearl's Lower Decks -> On Deck]

"Hrm," was the only response Kyle really gave, continuing down the small corridor. 'Something wrong'... the wording seemed to stick in Kyle's mind; they'd all done something wrong along the way. The Replicas were manifestations of such wrongs, proofs of their sins.

But they were human. Such sins were going to occur, there was no way a human could remain untouched by the Darkness...

"Hrm," he repeated. It had lessened his morose mood, though he was still morose regardless. "Well, look, just try not to let it get you down. We're a family. You have my back, I have yours."

The way he said it wasn't necessarily motivational, nor was it apathetic. It was simply... truth. To him, these strangers were more than mere acquaintances, even if they'd only been together a few days. They'd fought together, won together, lost together. Everything they did, they did together... because they'd all lost the same home. So they were his family- and that was that.

"Anyway, the reason I wanted you to come along- I'm going to explain to Calypso who we are and why we're here. I'm sure she already had a good idea, being who she is," he said, rolling his eyes as they began up the stairs. "But it would be best to make certain she plans to stay with us after this story ends. And in case I word something wrong, I figured your woman's touch could help me out," he finished with a chuckle.

[Dawn : Black Pearl : Upper Deck]

Dawn sighed leaning against Michelle as she soon started to help guide her to a place for the two of them to sit. She knew that Michelle, with the news that she had just received, she would be needing a place to sit or she would likely fall over. Dawn carefully wrapped her arm over Michelle's shoulder in a hug. After a few moments she let her arm fall then leaned her head against her head against Michelle's shoulder.

"As I know of, we are on our way to Shipwreck Cove. After awhile we are supposed to split up to help defend Atlantica from whatever Ajora has planned for it. While the rest of us stay and defend the Pearl," Dawn said, trying her best to try and relay what was talked about in the meeting the Earthlings had just had. The very same meeting she was zoned out for most of the time.

~'You know there is something else you should mention to her. You know, the little present Ajora left you.'~

'No.'

~'And why the heck not?'~

'Cause she just got back, and I have already given her the most heartbreaking news I could give her. She needs time to process what is already going on. Sides, I don't want to worry her over something, which could might as well be nothing.'

~'Don't be deluded, Sunlight. You know as well as I do, that that symbol on the back of your hand isn't nothing. It is more dangerous than you seem to make it out to be. I can feel it.'~

'I am not telling her Garuda. There is nothing you can do or say that can change my mind from that. So just drop it.'

Garuda didn't say anymore on the matter, but Dawn knew that Garuda was not going to give up.

[Michelle : Black Pearl : Upper Deck]

There was the name Ajora again. Michelle was getting the distinct feeling that she ought to ask more about the replicas but she didn't want to, not this very moment at least. Dawn's attempts at comforting her were sweet and well received as they sat leaning against each other. She really had missed her sister. That thought of course sent her heart right back to aching for and missing James so she tried to focus on what Chickidee said.

The mention of Atlantica explained the whole half-fish incident below, mermaids and ocean depths, now that was something pleasanter to think about. Imagine being able to actually breath underwater. And they were headed to Shipwreck Cove aboard The Black Pearl, with Jack and Barbossa, she could easily imagine how much her own pirate would've been loving this if he were here.

She just couldn't take her mind, or rather her heart off the news. Sure she was coping on the outside but it was perfectly natural that inside she was still reeling. So sitting there on a bench next to Dawn she pulled her legs up underneath her, and still leaning her head on Dawn's she asked her summon, How long do you hold the first count for again? She would try and meditate for a while and see if she couldn't find a place for all the emotions that were swirling like a hurricane inside her. Besides she was feeling thoroughly sea sick now and needed to focus on something other than the motion of the ship.

[Jenny :: The Carribean :: Black Pearl Upper Deck]

Family. This family that had been thrown into her life so suddenly, and yet was now so essential to her own well-being. What a ragtag family they made up but Jenny loved it even with all the hardships and the pain but she loved it.

Then Jenny froze on the staircase; she stared at the back of Kyle's head as she tried to pick up her legs to resume walking. Did he say... he brought her along to help? Jenny had trouble speaking, especially with all powerful figures like Calypso. She could order a taco just fine (and even this could be argued if too many options were giving as to chicken or beef, diced tomatoes or salsa, cheddar cheese or sour cream... it could go on and on), but she felt like Calypso might throw her in the water for trying to equate her with someone who worked at a fast food joint. And then Jenny would just ramble... and that was hardly a woman's touch. Maybe she was over thinking, oh gosh, she hoped she was over thinking. "Uhm... are you sure you brought along the right person Kyle?"

[Sephiroth : Land of Dragons : Summit]

Only one light can defeat me. Remember that.

Only one light. Sephiroth felt the pain, a burning sensation on the surface of his chest in the precise place Alan had put his hands on Cloud. His eyes flashed briefly, a bright and supernatural green; it was the only indication he had felt the pain at all. The connection was fractured.

Fractured. Never broken.

He stood on the very edge of the summit, and neither feared the height nor appreciated its beauty. A field of snow was behind him, leading into the paths of the mountain below. The light of day was blinding, but in this particular place it was partially dimmed by the mountain, and much of the area was covered in the shadow. It appeared much darker in the immediate area where Sephiroth stood.

Sephiroth had learned much during Cloud's lapse of control; things that should have been guarded were laid bare. Rage was a powerful tool, and one the puppet often fell to. Sephiroth waited.

Genesis was returning.

{Leon : Village Outskirts : Clearing}

He shook his head, dismissing Alan's apology, he wasn't the only person who had called him by his real name, and he more than likely wouldn't be the last. Just a further reminder to the gunblader that one couldn't change the past.

"Aside from the name Genesis, it seems none of us have any idea who he is." He replied with a sigh, his eyes then focused on Cloud. "He knew you though, and who is Sephiroth? Why did just the mention of that name cause you to charge in like that?" He asked, trying to get some truth out of the buster wielder.

Leon wasn't a fool, he could tell both by the way that Cloud had reacted as well as Genesis' words that something was up, and he was determined to find out.

Jacob ll Black Pearl ll Crow's Nest

Jacob gently hoisted himself up into a handstand and toppled over the side of the crow's nest, falling a good twenty feet into the rope nets that ran from the sides of the ship to the mast; he bounced, but as he landed, he grasped as tightly as he could to slow down his acceleration, just a meter from going overboard. He heard an audible pop burst from his back. "Ahhh. That's the ticket. Smashing." He flipped back up upside-down to get a better hold on the ropes and swung himself around back onto the boat.

"Oy Dawn. Why don't you make fancy with introductions." Jacob said jokingly, laughing as he swept her up into a big hug. Dawn always seemed like she needed them, and Jacob was all too happy to take away all the stress with a nice hug. He gently set her back down, anticipating meeting Dawn's sibling.

[Cloud : Hawaii : Clearing]

Cloud glared at Leon, but the defensive reaction didn't hold, and he looked off to the side. He had trouble keeping eye contact. Alan's spell was still healing him, but something more disturbing than physical wounds was keeping him on the ground.

Leon was there for the appearance of Sephiroth, and the fight that ensued, but he didn't know about Cloud's connection to Sephiroth any more than Cloud knew about Leon's past. Squall was a name he was rarely called, except by maybe Yuffie and a few others. Cloud didn't ask, and Leon didn't tell. As far as Sephiroth was concerned...

"Sephiroth is the manifestation of my darkness," Cloud stood. His sword was lying on the ground a few feet away. He retrieved it. "He's me."

[John.:Hawaii:.Tidal Awesome-sauce Beach Par-tay!]

John looked over to Demyx, then back to Kyla, and a quick look back to Demyx before he realized Amy was heading back from the lounging replica.

...huh... um... rape much?

"Amy! Get yo' aa' back in he' gurrrrrrl! We got's some craaaaazy tidal awesomeness to take ovah!" John said smiling brightly. "Ooo, and look! My body is all like, "oh John from Cleveland you so biiiiig and strrrrrrrong!" and I'm like, "hh-ohhh yyies liettle girrl. I ehm bieg maehn for yoo. Yoo cahm in waterr, yes? I thienk soh-..."."

John's smile continued, but in the back of his mind, he was reminded of his past life again. The Russian accent had made her laugh when he was trying to be manly.., For a brief instance, he saw her face. The fact that she was, in fact, his best friend before they started dating meant that they shared some very interesting and fun times, and those were what he continued to live upon. He knew that if he just overcame this one small obstacle, he could make it... just a little further every day...

[The Black Pearl ~ Lower Decks --> Galley]

Noelle sighed and rubbed her face as everyone started to leave and move on to other things. She stood in the same room for a few minutes, just thinking. When Dawn’s voice came shouting in her head, she jumped and put her hands over her ears as if it would help, then she really began to comprehend what she was saying. Michelle was back with them? This was good news as much as it was bad news. The agromancer didn’t want to have to face Michelle after they had lost James. She felt too guilty.

The blonde looked up and glanced around for Prote to see that he had already left. Poking her head out of the door, Noelle hoped to catch a glimpse of him to see where he’d gone, but didn’t see anything. She left and searched around a bit to find him. As she had suspected, he was back in the galley, sitting in front of the stove to warm himself some more. He didn’t look up when she entered, only really acknowledging her when she came and sat down near him—though not too close because being next to him was like sitting in front of an open refrigerator door.

“So, ah . . . I was kind of thinking,” Noelle began, leaning back on her hands, “Finding out that you don’t actually breathe air got me to wondering what else we don’t really know about you and Geists in general . . . care to enlighten us? Or at least me since I’m here. It’d be nice to know.”

“What is it that you would like to know?” Prote asked, seeming like he didn’t have a problem answering her questions.

“Well . . . I suppose you can start from the beginning. I mean, you’re one of the more powerful Geists right? So you must have been around for a while, right?”

“Yes. I was the last of the original eight. The ninth of eight, as it were.”

Noelle made a face and tilted her head slightly, “Uhh . . . yeah, that makes sense.”

“Let me explain. I am Prototype IX, but there were eight of us prototypes. I was told that after all eight prototypes were completed Prototype II had to be destroyed. I was never told why. And so I was created to complete the eight, though named Prototype IX.”

“Oh, okay.” The agromancer nodded with a shrug. “Well, that makes sense. They still wanted eight prototypes, so they made you to complete the set. Continue.”

Prote nodded and looked at Noelle to read her facial expressions as he really began his story. “It all began with Prototype I . . .”

[ Kefka : Land of Dragons : (Mostly) Abandoned Village ]

Rubble laid strewn about the small Chinese village, once home to the famous Mulan. Just a short hour ago, it had been a beautiful town, a mixture of man-made structures combining perfectly with the natural fixtures of the land, such as ponds and trees. Now, however, the village was nothing more than a smoldering heap of stone and ash, the sky itself made dark by the clouds of thick, poisonous smoke. The remaining flames cast eerie, disturbing shadows on the ground, all seeming almost... playful

In the center of these ruins, Kefka Palazzo had herded what few remaining civilians he could find into a small group. It mostly consisted of elder men and women, all too old to really leave at all. They each stared at the oddly-clothed mage-clown in front of them, his painted face contorted into what could only be described as a frustrated curiosity. Some of them looked fearful; others looked defiant, despite their old age.

"This is all that's left, hmmmmmm?" Kefka asked, his voice teetering between the usual high pitch and a threatening low growl. His eyes narrowed at one particular older man who stood in front of the group, the most defiant and unafraid of them all, despite his dependency on a cane simply to stand up. "Where is everyone? I've already ransacked your little capital, but it was a ghost town."

"The Emperor ordered an evacuation," the man croaked immediately, his nose turned up at the clown in front of him. "Warned of a coming threat- said they would be displaced to some castle in the east."

Kefka's eyes narrowed further still, glancing off to the side and downward, as if in thought. He muttered to himself at a rapid pace, though his words were incoherent.

"So you're here to kill us, then?" the man croaked, looking rather angry as he stepped forward; an older woman tried to pull him back, though he shook her off. "Where is your honor? Or are you so low that you have none?"

Kefka's gaze immediately turned back to the man in front of him, eyes still narrowed, though they slowly opened back up, his lips curling into a smile. "Oh, right, you're all about honor, aren't you?" he asked; his voice had finally decided on the normal, higher pitch as he smirked, beginning to walk toward the man as well. "Honor this, dishonor that... well, let me tell you a little something about honor."

They met in the middle; the elders behind the man looked on in absolute fear, though the man himself seemed perfectly confident of his stature. Kefka was a bit taller than the man, even when hunched over. There was a pause, which in moments was interrupted by Kefka's hands shooting forward, grabbing the old man by the face.

"I hate hate hate HATE YOUR STUPID LITTLE HONOR!" he shouted, and in that moment, the elder was charged with visible bolts of black-and-green lightning, forcing his body to shake as though he were having a seizure. The man tried for a few moments to hold his tongue, but after just a couple of seconds, he screamed to the heavens in agony, quickly silenced as the bolts vanished. The people quickly began to scream, crying and recoiling at the sight. His body fell to the ground, entirely limp, as Kefka let go of his head, the clown's eyes narrowed once again.

Staring at the villagers almost as if to weigh their worth, he remained still for a moment, only to turn around and wave lazily over his shoulder. The playful shadows that had danced in the light of the flames darted forward, turning into dozens of Shadow and Neoshadow Heartless, surrounding and, inevitably, devouring the last remaining Chinese villagers.

Sayrike::The Black Pearl::Main Deck

Sayrike gave her own small chuckle as Anthony tried to defend his statement about the movie. A few moments of silence settled between them, during which Sayrike turned away from the young man next to her and looked up again at the sky. It was so amazingly...blue. They weren't close enough to land for any birds to fly by. Hmm, pity. They'd probably enjoy this warm, breezy day too.

"Hey Sayrike..." Anthony began next to her. "Do you think I'm not taking our situation serious enough? I mean...like...erm..." he continued to fumble, the guild clear in his voice. Sayrike sighed as he pressed on. The sigh was full of some of her own guilt, both in that she hadn't been very tactful herself about critiquing his comment below, and also in a similar concern that the others might be offended by her lack of passionate reaction to all that had taken place in the last few hours.

The young woman allowed a bit more silence to grow as Anthony finished his questions, while she tried to compose an appropriate answer. "Well," she began, "first off, don't worry; I obviously knew you were joking. And I also figured it was a coping strategy too. Have you noticed that Jacob has his own unique way of coping as well? Others might be offended, but...I don't know, at least I understand where you guys are coming from. Everyone handles stress differently." She continued to study the sky, though there was nothing really there to look at. Not even a cloud passed by to offer some distraction. "Hmm...I wonder what time it is?" she softly asked to no one in particular. She didn't bother pulling out her pocket watch to check.

The coarse wood scratched Sayrike's gloved palms as she shifted against the railing, moving her arms so that her forearms rested on top. "I think that...I don't know, maybe the others think that, just because we haven't been through what they've been through, that we don't care as much. I mean, I don't know what you've been up to since all of this started, but..." she trailed off and looked down as well. Times had been tough for her too. "Well, in my opinion, what good does it do to dwell over the past? How is lamenting going to bring the Earth back? And what about those who have come into existence because of the emergence of Disney worlds? Are we going to cast them aside as "not real" and only care about the friends and family that we've lost?" Sayrike stopped herself before she got too far into a rant. The silence returned again.

"Heh." She let out a half-grin to herself, and then turned her face up to Anthony. "But hope? No. It's never a crime to have hope. Together, let's have enough hope to make up for everyone else." Sayrike's grin widened as she said such a cheesy line. Such words were typical of her, and it was nice to see a bit of her old self reemerge. "Hmm...apologize? Er, yeah, I guess I might say something when everyone's back together again. I don't think they're mad at you, but at least it lets them know that you weren't trying to be offensive."

[Quistis :: Black Pearl :: Above Deck]

The Blue Mage was about to comfort Dawn more when suddenly the loud call of "CHIKADEE!" echoed in her ears. She turned to see a girl run by then hit the water. She moved quickly over the edge and looked around for the girl who had fallen. At the sight of the girl suddenly having a fish tail, she blinked a few times before letting a small sigh escape her. I should be more surprised...But with what has happened since I've joined this group, I'm honestly not surprised. But this would explain a lot, since Kyle said they were going to Atlantis or Atlantica something that sounds similar.

She paused, tapping her boot against the wooden deck of the ship. I wonder, can all of these kids grow fish tails?

[Nick :: Hawaii :: Beach]

As Nick made his way towards Demyx to throw that womanizing, mullet having, sitar playing, water loving Nobody, he slid to a stop, creating a wave of sand to coat the Aeromancer nicely. He had grabbed Kyla. And was going to dunk her. Normally, this would have made him laugh, but he couldn't. It made him get...furious. If Kyla didn't want to get dunked, don't dunk her!

He got up quickly, shedding his coat and removing the bandana on his head. He took a few steps back, then propelled himself into the air and hurtling towards Demyx full force, attempting to tackle the Nobody in a flying takedown.

[Amy : Hawaii : Beach]

Amy hadn't quite reached the waves again when John called to her, instantly lifting her spirits with his Russian accent. Every time he did that, she felt better, and a smile would unconsciously slip onto her face.

She decided then and there that Azrael was very Hojo like, yes? and that's as far as her attempt at a Russian accent got.

Amy's face scrunched up into an uncannily similar version of the "XD" as she came toward John, who was finding it far easier to stand in the ocean than she was. The waves kept pulling and pushing her without mercy, and she imagined her muscles were working more just to keep her upright than she was registering. She politely pointed out that everyone was bigger and stronger than she was, then jollily added that she had guns to compensate.
