Still focusing on keeping ahead, Aoi did not even notice that there had been sharks after them for a short while. She glanced back at Alexis and she frowned slightly due to how close he was, although the frown was quickly replaced with a playful grin as she tried moving a bit faster; however, she was not going to push herself to hard or she knew that she'd tire herself out and then she'd have no chance of winning. "Come on slow poke." she teased playfully, while doing her best to keep some distance between her and Alexis.{{ooc:}}

Alexis paused at a soft whistle, noticing a mermaid with a deep teal tail and bright crimson hair and amber tips to her hair falling down to her lower back. He didn't recognize her, though he wasn't sure if Aoi would or not.

Hearing a whistle, Aoi came to a completely halt and whipped her head in the direction of the sound. When her eyes darted around they settled on another mermaid and she wondered who she was. "Was she whistling at me, you, or both of us to get our attention?" she asked Alexis, all while slowly swimming in the direction of the mermaid. The little fish had shimmied his way out of the pouch and he darted over to the mermaid and swam laps around her head before nuzzling against her face. Aoi looked at the fish with a bit of confusion and said. "You think that may be why the fish came to us? And perhaps she wasn't whistling to us at all? Although, we won't know until we find out, right?"{{ooc:}}

Alexis shrugged. "I have no idea; I thought you'd recognize her... I know I don't since you were the first mermaid I've met," he said with a slight chuckle. Ariel blinked as the fish nuzzled her cheek before she noticed the nick in his dorsal fin; it was a small baby fish that was half porpoise, half tuna and born only a few days ago. "Raigin," she murmured with amusement. She had named the fish 'silver lightning' for his color and natural speed. "Thanks for taking care of him; he slipped away a couple of days ago," she said with amusement at the pair; she recognized Aoi, though she didn't outright say she knew the girl, though she didn't recognize the guy at all even though he was extremely cute.

Aoi slowed once she got within a few feet of the mermaid and turned to Alexis speaking in a soft tone. "I guess we can't know everyone... Oh well." she returned to facing the girl that the fish had raced off to greet and nodded at her. "I didn't realize that he belonged to anyone, though it's all right. I'm just glad that he's going to be safe. And it wasn't any problem, though he did keep trying to get away from me and I was afraid that he'd be eaten by something." she said, her tone holding a bit of reluctance to letting Raigin go, but she knew that the fish wasn't hers to keep. "Have we met before? I'm just curious, since sometimes I'm not always the best when it comes to remembering faces... Heh... I can normally remember faces, although there are cases where I just can't think right to save my life." she asked, trying very hard to recall this girl, however, any memories of meeting the girl were just not coming to mind at all.{{ooc:}}

Alexis tilted his head. "It's a big ocean; I'm sure trying to remember everyone's name, face and such would require either a very thick book or one heck of a library," he said with a low voice in a mildly amused tone. Ariel giggled softly. "Not personally; I remember your father spoke to mine once about supplies, then he got invited to one of our infamous concerts.... well, a lot like you, I prefer to explore and so didn't show up for my finale at the end... I find those concerts boring anyway having six sisters," she said with a dramatic sigh and laugh that showed she was joking.

Aoi looked to Alexis and giggled as she heard what he said. "Isn't that the truth? I doubt that any one person could know and remember everyone in the ocean. It's just too big and there are just too many fish, dolphins and the whole assortment of merfolk to remember everyone and everything without logging it all," she said in reply to Alexis before turning to the girl. "I think that I remember that time. I think that I went along, but father told me to stay close to our escorts... He was such a spoil sport... I just wanted to see what all was there and wanted to make some friends was all. Fathers can be so strict and reprimanding... I know that they love us and all, but they should let us have some freedom." Aoi said as she gave a small laugh. She made mention of where they were going and she asked if the girl would like to come with them. Moments after she finished speaking she gasped and felt a bit silly that she'd not introduced herself yet and she quickly introduced herself.{{ooc:}}

Alexis chuckled at Aoi's words, very amused. Ariel shrugged her shoulders. "I know the feeling; it's why I prefer to roam when possible. I like the idea of seeing a beach with... navy blue sand.... could be interesting," she said, a hint of curiosity in her voice when she referred to the sand; she already knew Aoi's name and waved it off, not minding the fact.

Aoi glanced over at Alexis before looking back to the girl. "We should probably get going now. I doubt that there's anyone looking for me, although if Father had any sense he may have sent something to your father and it could spiral into an all out search party... Especially if they're looking for both of us. I really don't want to go home, since it'd just be way too bad for me... I seriously doubt that I'd be fed to sharks, like they threaten to do to those who go to the surface. But I do know that I'd be locked up and not allowed to go anywhere without a whole escort team tailing me, watching my every movement..." she said, shuddering at the thought before starting to swim off, although she quickly turned, looking to Alexis, asking him in a slightly embarrassed tone which way she should be going before she got too much more ahead of herself.{{ooc:}}

Alexis tilted his head slightly as he took the lead, going through what seemed to be a bay with several boats floating on the surface forty or fifty feet over their heads. "Once we cross here, it's just around a sweeping bend through a short channel that tends to have rough currents," he said with a slight sigh.Ariel smiled faintly. "If he's anything like my father, I doubt he'll do that... he'd be too prideful," she said softly under her breath as she swam after Aoi.

Aoi waited for Alexis to take the lead before moving again. She followed at a decent pace, though she let herself fall a bit behind as to not leave the girl and Raigin behind. "You know, you're probably right. Father would more than likely keep it to himself that he wasn't able to keep a good watch on his daughter. Wouldn't want that to slip out to anyone now would he?" she said, giggling in reply to the girl. "Oh, I never got your name, if I may ask?" she added, just curious to know her name so that she'd not be embarrassed when trying to get her attention and not having a clue as to what to call her.{{ooc:}}

_Hoshiyuri_ OOC - Yeah, that Ariel, lol. Alexis glanced back, but wasn't all that surprised when Ariel accelerated past him but stayed roughly four or five feet ahead of them as if teasing them into a race. Ariel giggled. "It's Ariel," she said with amusement before she accelerated; she knew how fast Raigin could be even for his small size.

Aoi was a tad bit surprised when Ariel darted forward while introducing herself. Seeing and figuring that this was more than likely a challenge, Aoi darted forward too, though she did not want to leave Alexis behind. "Come on or you'll be left behind, slow poke." she said, half teasing Alexis, though she was only being playful. She did a horizontal spin as she moved forward and ended up swimming up side down for a ways before turning right side up. "I really enjoy having so much company. Most of the time I only have fish or dolphins to talk to and although that's all right, it is a bit lonely having to be alone, yet, it can be fun since you don't have to go by any rules other than your own. And please don't go thinking that I'm saying running away is a good idea." she said, adding that last part on purpose, thinking that what was said may have sounded as if she was telling Ariel to run away and try living on her own.{{ooc: When I read the description you gave I seriously thought of that Ariel lol And once you gave more I knew that's who it was. razz }}

Alexis saw Ariel shrug as Aoi spoke before he accelerated, deliberately swimming a bit higher than Aoi and Ariel both. He trailed his fingers up both mermaids' backs in a tickling movement teasingly as he swam above them, then just ahead of them. Ariel shrugged as she had no real intention of fleeing home for self-imposed exile. She shivered, slowing a bit as she felt something warm trail up her back that sent goosebumps over her skin before she noticed Alexis swimming just ahead of her.

Aoi swam along, thinking about darting forward and seeing how fast she could go; whether or not she would leave the other two in her trail of bubbles. Although as she debated on trying to out-swim the others she felt something warm running along her back, causing her to shiver some. She noticed that Alexis swam ahead of her and Ariel some and she rolled her eyes some. "Trying to get ahead of us, huh? Are you really tickling us to try slowing us down? You know that's not fair!" she said in a teasing manner, moving forward and flicking Alexis with her tail, playfully.{{ooc:}}
