I mean, they are after all, just really annoying to play against, and well, everyone that I know that plays them tries to cheat sooner or later. They just become too reliant upon the We'll be Back rule. To try and cheat to get it is not what I would call good. The prejudice, I believe, comes not from the army itself, but from that little fact.

Ugh I really don't like Necrons... I played a game, I was Tau and my ally was Imperial Guard, versus Blood Angels and Necrons... 'course I was stuck with the newbie, he didn't have any idea what he was doing.
So, anyway, it was an objective match, my army was all deployed in the center of the board and I was just advancing forward the whole time to get the objective, I had 2 Fire Warrior squads, a Hammerhead, and some battlesuits... I think it was like the 4th turn or so, the Necron player had some spell with his lord that allowed him to teleport all troops within 6 inches of his lord or something like that. So of course he crams two whole squads of warriors around his lord, and teleports 20 warriors RIGHT BEHIND MY ARMY! Ugh it was horrible, I was slaughtered lol... I only managed to bring down like 6 of them, but 5 of those he was able to revive... I thought Necrons were pretty cool before that battle, but after that... I HATE THEM!!!!! scream grrrr

Be glad you have not had to face A bunch of infiltrating Flayed ones. A turn one assault upon my forces, and then he decides that that is not enough, and then goes and deep strikes his monolith into the middle of my army. BTW, he did roll on the scatter die as per the rules, right?

Yahiko_Meoshine 3 words....I HATE NECRONS!!! MY ELDAR ARE ALWAYS DECIMATED WHEN I PLAY THEM crying crying crying You should see some of the battles I've played against my friend Matt then. He's Eldar, I'm Necrons. I have never seen so many metallic limbs fly as I did when his Wraithlord close-combatted my squad of 10 Necron Warrior. Not one stood back up. The rest of my army was caught between his huge squads of Defender guardians (like 20 per squad AND with a Warlock with Conceal - stressed ) and my friend Peter's Death guard army (pretty decent at range, absolute MFs in close combat. My lord and 5 Warriors were all that was left, so they Phased Out.

I half know the new deep strike rules (do you still have to be under a ordo template?), but more then one squad is against the rules.

Otherwise, Goodbye. And the way it works for the shadow field, you can only move one squad at A time.

Drachyench_The_Eternal Be glad you haven't faced a C'Tan/ Monolith Well, from what I've heard neither 'Nids nor Tau have anything to fear from a Monolith, so what's so evil about the C'tan/Monolith combo?

It's just that Monoliths are surprisingly resillient. Like a venerable dreadnought, they just refuse to die... and like a land raider, it's a job shooting it to bits anyway

BTW monstrous creatures only get 1 d6 for Armour Penetration against it. As to the C'tan, well I have had to waste my time against one several times, and they are also annoying to get rid of. If your opponents bring either to the field, ignore them, and get rid of the basic warriors.

If your opponents bring either to the field, ignore them, and get rid of the basic warriors. I understand the mechanics that make the Monolith resilient, the living metal that only alows 1d6 pen, and it's 14 armor al around, right? But like I said, from what I understand, both 'Nids and Tau have ways around that without too much effort. 'Nids have (and this is hearsay, so correct me if I'm wrong) the Venom Cannon which fires 4 S8 shots per turn, which puts a pretty high chance of downing the 'Lith with one of those rolls. And as a Tau player, I have the scariest weapon in the game for tanks, the Rail Gun on my side. With S10 and a 72" range, it shouldn't be too difficult to pop a 'Lith with a pair of Broadsides. I'll take your word on the C'tan though, I don't have my copy of the Nec's codex with me at the moment, but from what I understand, they each have 3 wounds, an absolute barrel of annoying (the Deciever) or destructive (Nightbringer) abilities, and can't be insta-splatted by high Str weapons like the Rail Gun.

demon hunters are best equipped to deal with the c'tan.. they only have an invulnerable save... psycannons and psycannon bolts negate that.

Not three wounds, but Five wounds. And neither has A strangth below 8. And as to the annoyingness of the Monolith, it is not the resilience, it is where the resilience comes into play. As it stands, the Damn thing can drop right into the middle of the enemies army, and just cause havoc. BTW, I am going to state another fact you may already know, but if it lands on top of something that is in the way, like A squad of Marines, Then the marines have to move out of the way.

I cant see the problem, everything dies of power cleavers (or swords, whichever you prefer).
anyway, my experience with necron has been little and good... never faced a monolith, but i find an effective way to take out necrons is just bust everything through the center of his lines, find a way to take out any orbs hanging around, when you break through just finish it off...
just my 2 cents
