Nick seemed pleases with this, humming faintly and he remained more or less supported by Dom and that fountain of energy and the smile that could have been enough all on its own. No longer distracted by petty things like blood or danger or even trying not to look like an idiot, Nick was staring at gold eyes again. Gold was a metal, a rock pulled from the ground and carved. It had never really appealed to him before on that level. But then this wasn’t dead cold gold. This might be closer to the color you got when it was melted and swirling and alive in a fire. It was more than pretty, but further adjectives were beyond easy grasp.

“That makes me the prince,” Nick grinned. “I haven’t got a key though.” He raised an empty hand in childish proof . As if in sudden suspicion he reached down and found Dome of the hands clenched at Dom’s sides and raised it, flickering fingers attempting to pry it open and search for a key before releasing it again. “Would you pretend you didn’t have a key?” he murmured, half to himself, “If you knew I’d come rescue you?” He wanted to be the one that rescued Dom, to be the hero and see what it looked like when you did everything right and made the person you cared about happier, made the situation better for your presence instead of complicating things or making it worse. He settled down and leaned against Dom again, sighing. “I would you know. I’m not good at it, but I would.”

“I’m not drunk,” Nick protested. “I’m just very… comfortable.” He couldn’t be drunk. He didn’t drink. Hadn’t drunk. Heh. Soft electric fingers brushed his skin. He tilted his head, leaning against him. Maybe he’d done something right. He had to have. Something completely right and he hadn’t even noticed. Because what in his track record let Dom be the one person he could touch, could feel? He felt alive again and with the person he increasingly wanted to be alive with. It was perhaps the most beautiful coincidence Nick had ever come across.

“I didn’t think I was lucky,” he said, not bothering to explain the train of thought that had lead to the words. He very much wanted to prove to himself that he could touch Dom. Prove it to Dom while he was at it. Share the feeling of not worrying and being content and having problems stuck on the shelf and out of reach. But Nick was old fashioned, literally. The need for more permission than he had to do something quite that crazy was required, even if he was already all but laying on the purple haired male. Instead he buried his face against the material again. “Always warm.”

The way Nick was watching him was quickly working to undermine his decision to remain professional. It was likely whatever made him seem drunk that was causing him to watch him like he was attempting to learn some deep secret from him. Coupled with the shimmers of energy that were rushing through his own system because of their contact and he was finding it rather hard to behave.

Dom laughed lightly when he was shown an empty hand, his eyes dancing in delight at the grinned words coming from his companion as he caught his clenched hand and forced it open before running his fingers along the flesh there. Dom kept his hand still even as his stomach clenched at the contact only getting worse when Nick murmured a question about pretending to not have a key. He even practically promised to come to his rescue.

"I don't have a key, I locked it in my room. Save me?"Dom asked softly, tipping his head to the side slightly so strands of violet shielded his gold orbs. He shouldn't, he knew he shouldn't, but he couldn't quite resist the urge to play along. He didn't even mind getting tossed into the role of the chick for it. His hand, of its own volition, continued to brush at the blonde strands, tracing the pale skin softly. It was so easy to forget that Nick was actually dead, because under his fingers he felt more than alive. He was aware of him on a level he just wasn't with normal people. He could FEEL him like a pulse of life that brushed his own senses in soft sighs.

"Yeah, I don't have any luck either"Dom told him, after a short laugh that sounded slightly stressed. Dom had never cursed his luck before, he had just accepted the fact that things went wrong -a lot- around him. Until now he never would have thought it was directly out to get him, however. Why would he run into a ghost student, just as he became a teacher's aide, and find himself drawn to him like a moth to flame. It would probably get him killed but he couldn't look away. Or given his eyes maybe it was more like drowning than burning.

"I REALLY want to be a good teacher."Dom breathed, closing his eyes when Nick leaned deeper into him, burying his head into his shoulder with a murmured comment about warmth. He was trying very, very hard to be a good teacher. He couldn't like a student, even one that was close to his own age, but Nick was a ghost too...so what did that make it? What was right and wrong now? He wasn't sure at all.

“Working on it,” Nick promised. It was his turn to move hair away, unwilling to let violet hide gold from him. He remembered how soft it was now that his fingers were on it. That always caught him by surprise. It looked like it should have been spiky and stiff with gel, but it wasn’t. It fell that way naturally and there was not feel of chemicals or stink of hair mouse to interfere with it. He’s meant to brush it away and let go but his hands strayed further over them, almost as fascinated with the tactile sensation as he’d been with the color. Not quite though. Nick just… liked color. There had been too much black and white in his world, both metaphorically and literally. Papers and documents and agreements and inks and white walls for business, no decoration to distract the eye. Dom was a living decoration. And quite a distraction.

“Yeah, I got that when the first person you met was a ghost,” Nick grinned, speaking more freely in his inebriated state. But it wasn’t completely because of that either. He was slowly getting used to it, getting bits of sense back. He just didn’t want them now. He wanted to stay where he was in the state he was, didn’t want to have to watch what he said or did or worry about consequences for a moment longer. He could have that, right? Kit was alright, Dom was alright. He could steal this moment for himself, be selfish without it coming back to bite him.

Still partially buried against the shirt, blue eyes lifted to study the man in front of him. Dom’s eyes were shut so it was safe to do so, not that he hadn’t been doing a lot of outright staring in the last few minutes, so maybe Dom wouldn’t have minded anyway. He suddenly scowled against the material. Until this moment it hadn’t occurred to him that another obstacle in the face of his growing feelings (besides being, you know, dead) was some kind of barrier between the student that Nick supposed he technically was and the teacher Dom wanted to be. That was stupid. It was the dumbest thing he’d ever heard.

“I don’t like teachers,” he grumbled, the sentiment coming out more childish than he would have preferred. But as he spoke he leaned closer. He half expected a shock or a physical spark of electricity when he carefully brushed his lips against the corner of Dom’s mouth. But there was only warmth and the roll of an entirely different kind of electricity down his spine.

He tensed when he pulled back, not quite leaning on Dom again. He didn't know where to look or what to say now. He'd said too much without a word.

Dom chanted 'he's a student' over and over in his mind, trying to force his body to acknowledge what his mind already did. It was straining rather desperately, responding harsher when Nick brushed at his hair and held the strand. He was watching it in a way no one else ever had. Dom knew he had strange hair, his color had gotten him in trouble multiple times and he'd even been accused in school of dying it and sent home before. His principles had all had a signed note from his mom saying it was natural. What he'd never gotten was someone that seemed captivated by the unusual shade.

"That would be one sign, yeah."Dom practically breathed, willing his heart rate to drop back down because he was NOT supposed to feel like this, remember? He'd stopped chanting his mantra at some point and forced himself to pick it back up. He was not going to be ruining a perfectly good chance at his dream job by reacting to a student ghost. He had to be better than that, or he'd just be proving Nick right, right?

He concentrated on his breathing, forcing himself to slow to a count of three in and then a count of three out. Maybe if he did it enough he could get over the trembling energy that seemed to be caressing his own as Nick rested against him. Until today he hadn't realized that there was a different feel to the energy a ghost produced and that he'd find it as appealing as sticking his hand into a light socket. He'd done that to a transformer once and almost killed himself, he might as well be doing the same thing here.

"Not even GOOD ones?"The violet haired male asked, some of his pain touching his voice as he asked it. He wanted to be a teacher, he wanted Nick to like him, he DIDN'T want to want Nick...but that last one he may be failing at. When something smooth brushed the corner of his lips his breathing stopped all together and his gold eyes snapped open before he turned his head with a sort of pained slowness to look at the tense male who seemed to be a little shocked at his own action.

"I-"Dom opened his mouth, not sure what he was going to say, and then closed it realizing he didn't have anything to say anyway. He clenched his hands into fists and turned his head quickly to look at the wall across from him as he reached up and ran a hand through his hair. He should learn to pick locks, staying anywhere near Nick at the moment apparently was destined to just cause him heart ache.

Mistake. Nick wanted to blame this on the electrical intoxication so badly, but he couldn’t do it. He couldn’t cheapen the gesture by pretending it had only been the haze’s fault. He’d wanted to do that and he’d done it. He’d been selfish again and now Dom wasn’t looking at him, wasn’t speaking to him. Didn’t say anything more than half a word before proceeding to stare at the wall across from them. He could feel himself tremble, body trying to rectify whatever was wrong by moving energy around as it always did. But this wasn’t something he could fix that way. He couldn’t even vanish. It was the one advantage being a ghost had and Dom would still be able to see him if he tried to. Would he try though? Would he like it if Nick vanished and they could pretend it hadn’t happened?

The blonde’s head fell forward, covering his eyes as he tried to apply logic to the situation. Thinking about it in a more detached sense helped him. Drawing a shaky breath that was more habit than a sudden need for oxygen, he tried to remember what he needed to do. He’d come because he wanted to thank Dom and check on him and he had done so. Dom was stuck outside with the keys locked in the dorm room. Nick had promised to fix this. There. A goal.

He moved to extinguish any direct contact with the male next to him and pressed himself backwards, sliding through the door as though it were only an illusion. Once inside, he got to his feet and began respectfully searching, trying not to actually touch anything if he could help it. The keys weren’t hard to find and he picked them up, sorting through until he found the dorm key and sliding it off any others it was attached to. He needed it to be as flat as possible. It amazed him how tricky it was to remain physical after so much time being physical with no effort around Dom. He missed it, but pushed the feeling away almost instantly.

Then he knelt and placed the key under the door, sliding it along with one finger until it was on the other side, out in the hallway. Backing up, Nick waited to make sure Dom would find the key and get in, pressed against the far wall of the bedroom in preparation to slip through it the moment he saw the purple haired male could get in.

Dom struggled with his own guilt and wants. He really couldn't be doing this no matter how much he wanted to. It was hard to forget the difference between them because truthfully it was likely less than a few months to maybe a year. Dom wasn't old enough not to feel a definite pull towards the student ghost, but he couldn't think of it like that. He had to remember that Nick had already been hurt by teachers and hated them. He couldn't prove every hatred right by taking what he wanted from the ghost.

He tried to remind himself it was for the best when Nick pulled away from him. Forcing his concentration on his breathing he managed to get his body to calm down some. He didn't know where the blonde had gone, given how well he'd handled the situation probably about as far away from him as he could. If he wasn't so attached to the ghost he might have been able to explain why this was a bad idea. But how can you do that when your own voice would betray you? He'd never been a very good liar.

A moment later he heard the sound of metal against the flooring and turned his head slightly in time to see the key finish sliding out from underneath the door. For a whole second Dom stopped breathing as he stared at it wide eyed. Slowly he lifted his hand and reached out, letting his fingers brush the metal surface before he carefully picked it up.

Gold lifted towards the door as he stretched his senses and realized he could still sense Nick inside. He hadn't left...he'd gotten his stupid key after all. His head dropped as he sighed, shaking his head so the violet strands slid across his forehead and closed eyes. Finally he lifted them with a determined look that was very similar to the one he'd gotten in the bathroom earlier. He knew Nick had problems going incorporeal when around his energy so as Dom stood up in a move that managed not to dump him on his butt and grabbed the door he flared his ability to basically electrify all the walls in the room.

A second later he turned the lock and stepped inside, his stance hesitant despite the determination flaring in his slightly glowing gold orbs. He almost instantly located the blonde ghost, given how easily he could feel him now it wasn't hard. He held up the key in front of him like some sort of evidence as he kept his power flared and hoped it would be enough to hold the ghost in place as he crossed the room to stand in front of the other male.

Nick was pressed against the wall, the tips of his fingers already starting to pass through. Now that Dom wasn’t next to him, it was easy again. In fact it was easier to move through things than not to. He heard a few small movements on the other side of the door, picturing Dom getting to his feet. There was a moment of hesitation and Nick couldn’t help wondering if the other male was making sure to give Nick plenty of time to get away before going inside. Instead the wall suddenly bit him. He jerked his hand away instantly and turned to stare at the wall in alarm. What the hell? Had his fingers accidentally touched a bare wire hidden in the wall? Quite the fire hazard, but he could think of no other explanation. Experimentally he carefully brought his palm back to the wall. No shock. But no passing through either. Nick pressed harder, increasing the pressure until he was pushing as hard as he could against an impossibly solid wall.

There was a moment of panic before the door opened and he turned to see Dom staring at him. Relief flooded him as he realized there was an explanation for the wall’s sudden resistance and than an equally encompassing torrent of other emotions with confusion topping the list. Dom looked undecided for a second, but moved like he had serious business to discuss with Nick. Being yelled at for something he already knew was stupid was not high on the ghosts list of afterlife activities and he tried the wall again. No good.

There was a flash of metal and his eyes landed on the key. What? It was the right one obviously. And he’d promised to help. He hadn’t done anything wrong this time. Not in relation to the key at least. He stared at it for a moment then stared at Dom, frustration flickering in his eyes, disturbing the bright blue orbs. “Not the prince you wanted?” asked, the words maybe more bitter than he’d meant them to be. He didn’t have a right to be mad. He was dead. He was dead and Dom was both alive and a teacher and virtually a stranger. Oh, and Nick was inadvertently sucking the energy out of him just by being around him. He’d been assured that it wasn’t damaging, but it was still a disturbing thought, putting Nick in the position of parasite.

Well solid or not, he could always do as the humans did and use the door. His eyes fixed on it, focus shifting beyond Dom and color and straight back onto the blank white of the door. He shifted sideways to move past, careful not to touch him.

The violet haired male was gratified to have his ability work the way he wanted, Nick hadn't left the room at least. The blonde was pressed against it like he desperately wished he could phase through it but Dom knew if he let him it was very likely he'd never see the ghost again. That, more than anything, was something he wasn't going to let happen. He wasn't exactly sure what he should do, what was right, or even what he really wanted. He just knew he didn't want it to end like this.

Nick focused on the key he held up and his rich blue eyes filled with frustration. It was not a look Dom appreciated there, but he could understand it. It was the bitter bite to the words that decided him as Dom tossed caution and probably his future to the winds. Maybe he shouldn't be a teacher anyway if he couldn't stop wanting a student. Nick's blue orbs slide towards the door in a move that was instantly recognizable as looking for a way out and Dom covered the distance at a speed he honestly didn't think he had.

His hand, the one holding the key, slammed into the wall on the other side of the blonde head. He could feel the surge of electricity as he became connected to the current that he had running through it. His hair rippled slightly in a non-existent breeze as the energy pulsed through him. His other hand completed the cage a minute later as his glowing eyes filled with a resigned sort of sadness.

"No, wrong chick."He murmured in a voice that matched his eyes before he pressed forward to pin the blonde in place as his mouth closed over the ghosts. It was beyond something he shouldn't have done. For one he was a ghost, for another he was a student, and most importantly because he was just proving everything right to the emotionally damaged blonde. Yet he couldn't stop himself from softening the kiss and slanting his mouth slightly to make it sweeter. It was short, a brief claim and promise all in one before his guilt pulled him back and he pressed his forehead into the other boy's.

"I don't want to be like them...I don't want you to SEE me like them. Teacher's shouldn't DO this."his tone was tormented, tinted with the guilt for the fact that he couldn't control himself and was probably unfit either way. Still, it seemed worse that Nick might THINK he was one of them. Unconsciously the energy in the room responded to his emotions and the lights blazed brighter.

"Thanks..." he mentioned softly to him. Yukio was glad that he agreed a little bit without fighting back. However he did force himself to act like he usually did, so Yukio was slightly worried. "Are you sure your okay?" he asked concerned.

He as they walked he sensed a slightly disturbing presence in his room. When they walked in they saw Minagi, picking up clothes and probably doing housekeeping. He sensed rage coming from Kit and tried to calm him a little. He really meant no harm really. In some ways his brother couldn't help but be reckless.

Nick didn’t quite jump when a hand was planted straight in his path, but it was a close thing. Ghosts were supposed to make other people jump, not get startled at the sudden movements of others. Of course, he was a lot less ghost than he usually was when it came to Dom. Solid, capable of getting drunk and saying stupid things, unable to vanish or really hover. He could heal that small cut but that was about as ghostly as he’d managed to get. He was a glorified band-aid! Which made him feel like crap in comparison to someone who currently looked like a lost god of mount Olympus, complete with invisible wind and feeling of literal power radiating off of him.

‘Wrong chick’, while kind of funny, was not encouraging. He might have laughed if his emotions were the usual casual distance he liked to keep from these situations. Dom referring to himself as a girl would have made him laugh in any other circumstance. He was nice, but not what one would call overly feminine. Which was just fine with a ghost who had always favored the male half of the species.

Equal parts pleasure and frustration and confusion flared in his mind and vanished with the kiss. He felt himself respond to it instantly, returning the heat with his own. If Nick had thought he felt alive earlier, he’d been wrong. For a moment he could swear he actually solidified enough to be completely human, heartbeat, blood, stomach capable of filling with butterflies and doing flips. It was better than real and his eyes reluctantly opened again when it finished. He couldn’t even remember closing them.

He shook his head, though he didn’t break the contact. Guilt did not belong in that voice. He wanted to steal any pain from the tone and hide it away, make it go back to the light and happy and easy version he’d first met. “You would think it would be pretty obvious by now how I see you,” Nick murmured. His hands found their way to Dom’s face, cupping it very gently. “And you are nothing like anything else.” Amusement flickered in his voice. It would have been a lot easier if Dom was something more identifiable. But he wasn’t, not in the least.

User ImageWhat would you have done to save someone you cared for?
I would rather seal their spirits, even if he didn't want me to, then to see him die the same way...

Minagi heard Yukio's voice and instantly smiled. "Heya, Yukio-chan! How are y--" his sentence was cut short after sensing the other boy's energy emitting from his body. He didn't want to make a move for two reasons; one because That was still Yukio's body and two because Sora would get angry with him.

Apparently, the boy inside of Yukio was hesistant as well, though whatever for? Yukio was probably of no value to him, so why would he think that the boy was trying to protect him. Of course he'd probably get him to be used again. Like hell that was happening.

"All right, sir...Release hold of my brother and you won't get hurt..."

When children are doing nothing, they are doing mischief.

"I'm jake."Kit quickly answered, it wasn't like HE had gotten hurt. Everything had happened to Faust, whether he wanted it or not. He pushed the memory away much the way he did with anything that disturbed him. A ghost got very good at doing so if they wanted to stay sane for any length of time. He never again wanted to see someone hovering protectively over him injured. He never wanted to see anyone injured because of him PERIOD.

The murdering freak seemed to almost instantly know Faust wasn't alone in his body. That could have been because the white haired male was far to nice to have sworn the way Kit had or because of something else. Personally, Kit didn't care, what he did care about was that this guy obviously was back or a second attempt and it wouldn't be one he was going to allow. He hesitated because as long as he was controlling Faust he could stop him from doing something stupid, like taking a hit for him, again. But it also put him directly in the line of danger. He was also loaning him the energy to heal and probably wouldn't be able to get very far if Kit DID leave him.

"Like I'd ******** believe you, a*****e. You tried to KILL him."He snarled, flexing his hands and shifting uncomfortably. How fast could he run? While he was giving it some extra power, Faust HAD been badly hurt. He probably would cause more damage by trying to outrun this crazy b*****d. Damn. Rock and a hard place.

"If I gave you the last of my energy do you think you could make it down the hall?"Kit quietly asked the other presence in his mind. He could sense Faust trying to calm him, but the guy was really too nice for his own good. Someone was going to have to protect him from the crazies, and as he was HIS pet he'd take it upon himself to do so. Besides, Nick was down the hall. He could sense the ripples of power-at high levels. Nick would protect him, he knew he would. All Kit would have to do was hold this guy off till he knew Faust was safe. He just had to hope he didn't have those damn sickle things of his again.

Dom wasn't sure, but the fact Nick kissed him back might have made the situation worse. It meant he wasn't just by himself in feeling this. It was always worse with two people, because then no one was there to think things through and stop it. One of the people INVOLVED had to. He wasn't sure he was strong enough to be that person despite his wanting to be professional.

He sighed softly, a pained or resigned sound, when a hand cupped his cheek. How it could feel so very real and warm despite the reality of the situation, he wasn't sure. Maybe it was the energy he was feeling more than anything, because it was certainly electric. He shook his head slightly, not enough to dislodge the hand against his skin. The lights flickering above their heads.

"Teacher's don't have affairs with students."He pointed out. The small, dangerous voice in his head reminded him that he was only a teacher's aide, basically a student teacher. He couldn't be that much older than Nick-well physically. His position aside he could very easily have had a relationship with the other boy. The fact he was a ghost and that Dom was in a position of authority were about all that really stopped them.

"Although I think I'll take the compliment for being different, have to get some self-esteem back from somewhere."the violet haired male grinned, it was a little strained as he tried to lighten the mood. Yet he couldn't get himself to move back. He was way to close, but enjoying ever second of it. He needed to pull back, lighten the mood, and get a grip on the situation. Not do what his body wanted which was get closer and kiss him again. Unconsciously his gaze dropped to the other boys lips. He was in so much trouble.

Nick instantly hated being the cause of that pained little sound. From the moment he had met him, Dom had been a happy person. Not one of those annoyingly perky Every Day Is A Gift idiots who woke up grinning like a plastic doll, but someone with a generally positive attitude and a lighthearted nature. He wasn’t Good with trumpets and fanfare and some pompous act, he was just a good person, instinctively doing things for others or just making sure they were alright. Dom probably didn’t even realize how unusual that was. Or how admirable.

And now Nick was taking a nice guy and causing him pain just by liking him. Nick had enough experience trying to make teachers miserable that he was baffled when it came to the idea of trying to make things better. But Dom wasn’t really a teacher. Not in the way Nick thought of teachers anyway. That was the point.

When he heard the explanation for the worry, Nick wasn’t sure whether to kiss the man again or swat him. “I am not a student,” he said firmly. “I am… campus security.” He had no idea where that had come from, but his mouth was ahead of his mind in this situation. And since his mouth being ahead of his mind had gotten him into this situation, it seemed only fair that it try to bail him out now. Besides, Campus Security almost fit. He didn’t know what to call himself for the longest time. In books ghosts were either threats or guardians and guardian sounded to noble. He was a threat, but not to Dom. He would have offered to protect Dom with his life if it wasn’t already a moot point.

He softened at the return of the smile, pleased to see it even if it was a bit forced. One of the hands cupping the other’s cheeks strayed backwards a little, twirling purple hair around his finger. “You aren’t here for long,” he said, breathing words he didn’t even want to think about, let alone admit right then. “Just for a little while, let me pretend, alright? That I’m alive and with you.” Then maybe he could find a way to let Dom go when the end of the year came. Though… he rather doubted it. It would make it so much harder. But he wanted it anyway.

He saw the eyes drop and leaned forward, softly continuing the kiss, looking to hold the gold eyed man there before he worked up to running.

Hearing that, he really wasn't at all sure that he was 'jake'. Assuming he meant he was okay, he simply recoiled and replied, "You don't sound like it." Yukio really didn't want him to be upset right now. However with his brother around, it was probably increasing by a lot.

Then he figured out it was increasing by a lot right now, seeing as Kit just said he tried to kill him. That was a big misunderstanding. As he tried to explain, he asked him if he could run down the hall. "Yes, but that's assuming my legs won't give out. But that's besides the point, Kit!" he pleaded. "Please he meant no harm! Towards me anyway!"
