Morgan saw the blood on the back of Zhuke's neck and reached into her other pocket. As her hand slowly moved into it, she felt her heart pumping. She grasped a gun. Holding the hilt in her pocket, she thought about swiftly taking it out and shooting the glass beside Anysi as a warning, but thought otherwise. Sighing, she released her grasp on it, then folded her arms. One more move like that, and Anysi would have her head blown off.

Zhuke felt a sharp sting along the back of his neck, but didn't wince. By the light of the reflection, the bright gleam of the light didn't show on the edge of the cards, proving how sharp they were. He saw it many steps when she came close.

"I don't know about having fun spilling blood, but I've had papercuts worse than this. You're on." he said, smiling lightly while wiping the blood off from the back of his neck with the table napkin.

"What!? You can't let that jerk get away with that!" Maria said concerningly, helping Zhuke to his feet.

"It's fine. People like him need to know what trust is. In this case, trust could be gained if you let him hit you without fighting back or showing anger." Zhuke replied, getting to his feet while holding onto his diaphram.

"That doesn't make any sense at all!" she replied, looking frustrated.

"It doesn't need to." he replied, gaining his posture back and breathing easier.

"Did you even see the look on his face!? He just had some stupid grin on his face! He won't change!" Maria exclaimed with a tone of worry and anger in her voice.

"Not anytime soon, but it's a start. You accomplish things step-by-step." Zhuke replied, walking down the pier.

Maria frowned, watching him walk away.

"One day your little trust could get you killed!" she yelled down the pier, catching up with Zhuke.

---------

"So tell me then, how's this game of luck played?" he asked, still holding a confident and calm smile on his face. He turned his head and winked at Morgan, letting her know he knows what he's doing. In truth, he had no idea what was coming his way.

Morgan just looked down at her feet, knowing that he was lying. She got out her notepad once more, but instead of writing equations, she drew the scene of which this was happening.

With a flick of her wrist, the card in Anysi's hand dissapeared and she swiftly moved away from Zhuke. She then sat down on top of the table with her legs crossed over the end. In her hand was a new card she had conjured up, which she was busy fiddling with. Her bright green eyes weren't looking towards either Zhuke or Morgon at that point; instead, she was only looking towards the card, an evil look being apparent on her ironcially angelic features.

"Well, you don't really play per say." Anysi pointed out, looking at him for a moment, her eyes meeting with his own. "I simply control your luck. Making your life rather miserable." She explained to Zhuke once her eyes had returned to the card in her hand. "If I wanted to I could make so unlucky that death would immediantly overcome you somehow. But that's a bit mean. So, I'll just make you a bit unlucky." She added, tossing the card in his direction. However, instead of the card piercing him, it dissapeared into what seemed like smoke right before impact. The smoke encircled Zhuke for a moment before dissapearing itself.

Now, the most that would happen to Zhuke due to his loss of luck would not be that severe. He might be clumsy, say things he didn't wish to say, or randomly get hurt somehow, but it wouldn't be much. Anysi wasn't trying to hurt him, she was merely trying to prove a point. She didn't want him to think she could be trusted, so she knew she would have to pull him down to the point where they would be enemies.

"Are you still going to trust me, or do I really have to harm you?" Anysi finally questioned, hoping that he would tell her that they couldn't be friends. Honestly, she didn't want to cause him harm. Everything was she doing was simply teasing him in a way, she wasn't doing anything to really cause him pain. If his answer was yes than she would really have to think of a way to lose his trust without breaking the rules of her job. Fighting something with him was a choice, that way she could prove that she wasn't to be trusted in battle. However, the chances of them getting someplace where battle would be an option wouldn't happen... right? Then again, there were monsters at the school.

It was then that a thought crossed her mind; a thought that she really did not like much at all. Even so, it still troubled her since she knew she didn't know the answer.

Why do I care?

Zhuke looked down at his chest where the card had hit him. A few seconds passed by as he looked up. Suddenly, he laughed a bit.

"I'm unlucky enough, but thanks." he said, taking another sip from his coffee. His expression didn't change, but he slightly burned his tongue from the coffee just then.

"Sure, why not? I want you to know the feeling of trust if you haven't felt it before, which I doubt since you're not all that bad a person. There's a peace in your eyes, and I can feel a calm peace in yourself. You just need to accept it." he said, tilting back on his chair.

As he tilted, the chair leg broke. Reflexes shot his left leg back to balance out his weight. He stood there for awhile, then stood upright.

"I'm unlucky enough." he said, smiling in a humorous way and laughing while rubbing the back of his head.

("She must be really serious about this. It's gonna be a long while before I can convince her.")

"I don't-..." Anysi began, though stopping herself. As much as she wanted to, she wasn't about to admit that she didn't want to hurt him. If she did it would merely prove she was weak... right?

"You can't trust me!" She then snapped at him, shaking her head frantically. "You just can't! If you do it ruins everything!"

Zhuke looked at her confused.

"Trust doesn't ruin and tear, trust bonds." he replied simply. "Trust does not mean you're naive, it just shows that you can-... well, trust someone or be trusted. Trust can be used as good or bad, but trust will always be a bond." he said as he took another sip from his coffee, drinking slowly to avoid from burning himself again.

"Yes, but if people can trust me that just means that I betrayed those that did!" Anysi retorted angrily, with a hint of sadness lingering somewhere in her voice. "I couldn't live with myself if I knew that was true."

"Bonds are meant to hold, but they are also meant to tear. There is always regret, but there is always forgiveness. I'm sure if they knew how you changed, they'd forgive you completely." he said, leaning against the counter since his chair broke.

"The past is something you won't change. So change what you can, the future." he said lightly, thinking of what he could change for himself.

"What are you my shrink?!" Anysi added angrily, crossing her arms are she glared at him.

"I don't want to change the future. Change won't do me any good. Even if I could leave the Alliance there's no future for me elsewhere. Do you honestly think someone could give a damn about me? At least where I am now I have co-workers that respect me."

A smirk then crossed her lips for a moment as she made her next bitter comment. "Besides, you're not one to talk. You changed your future and lost the girl who you cared about. In the end you didn't even get love, you're just as alone as you were before."

Zhuke frowned slightly at the comment.

"Alone? What makes you think that?" he asked curiously. He sighed at her ignorance.

"I'm someone, and it feels like I do in fact give a damn. Makes sense to me, so what's the problem? Co-workers respect you just because you work with them. Friends respect you on who you are. Now, which would you choose?" he asked while walking away from the counter and looking out the window. He looked at the teenagers outside, acting stupid, but with hearty smiles on their face while laughing.

"Friends hurt friends, but co-workers don't get involved with eachother." Anysi pointed out. "So, I'd much rather be co-workers than friends." She said to him, watching him as he moved away from where they had been. The anger in her voice had died down a bit, though it was still evident. However, her next statement showed the most irritation out of all the rest. "We are not friends."

"But we're not enemies." he replied quickly, but calmly. "Friends also help friends, and co-workers still don't get involved with each other." he added while watching the teenagers disappear from his vision. He turned his gaze to Anysi.

"You're too negative you know that?" he commented, smiling.

"And you're too friendly." Anysi muttered in reply, an annoyed look on her face. "Even though you're not going to convince me of anything." She added, knowing that what she had just said was a lie. He had already convinced her of many things, she was merely in denial.

"Better than cold-hearted." he answered, coughing slightly, referring to Anysi. He shrugged.

"Convinced or not, you'll get it one day. Everyone who changes starts by refusing what they're changing to, they just need to experience it to truly understand it." he noted, turning to Anysi. "Make a friend or two, you'll see how much they stick up for you. Even if you're better than them, they still try. What would a co-worker do for you?" he asked, walking near a table and sitting on a chair close to the counter.
