You walk through the dark, shadowed forest. In the middle of a clearing, with one single ray of light centered on it, is a mirror. What do you see when you look at it?
I see my reflection - I see who I really am inside.
I see who I have become - all my past efforts and endeavors roll before my eyes.
I see potential - the future, with all its possibilties, becomes clear to me.
I see my inner demons. I recognize them, so that I may conquer them.
I see darkness; the mirror is not a mirror, but a window to my soul.
I see someone else - the mirror is not a mirror, but a window, showing me my heart's true desire.
I refuse to examine the mirror. It is an illusion - I do not need it to tell me what I already know.

Farfarello was still skeptical, but nibbled off a small piece on the end. Dubbing it safe, he polished off the bread. It was the most delicious thing he'd ever tasted. Maybe eating isn't so bad. He thought with a smile.

Raedou turned around. He tried his hardest, but he could not hold it in any longer. His adorable furry face twisted into a cruel, menacing smile, and he howled in maniacal laughter.

"YOU'VE BEEN TRICKED!!" he bellowed, "THAT WAS NOT A NORMAL LOAF OF BANNOCK!!! I FOOLED YOU!!!"

He started coughing again, and clumsily backed against a tree.

"That was
Ganzian Fire Bannock..." he said, gasping for air, "It's a special bread created from alchemy that causes whoever eats it to belch furious streams of flame!!!"

He pulled out another loaf and swallowed it whole. That combined with the look on his face would have probably made Perrault cry in fear, if he hadn't lagged behind to talk with Ephlas about magic.

"We Desert Ganzis are completely immune to it's fiery effects!" laughed Raedou, "But for you, my friend, you will taste wax for days!!!"

Raedou threw back his head and cackled loudly, with the occasional elk-like whistle thrown in.

Enraged, Farfarello launched himself at Raedou, roaring flames and making quite a scene.

Perrault looked and saw the Ganzi and the Demon clawing and beating away at eachother, and ran towards them to break up the brawl.

"Come on, you guys!" he said, "We're a team! You two need to stop fighting with eachother!"

But did they listen? Of course not. They continued fighting, until Raedou finally managed to hold up his finger.

"TOR BOROT!"

A powerful force smashed down upon Farfarello's body, leaving him sprawled onto the ground, twitching in anger as he tried to get back up.

Raedou stood up and brushed the dirt off of his clothing.

"I hope you learned your lesson, demon." he snarled with satisfaction.
"Never mess with a Ganzi... we tend to break he rules in order to win, and you'll always lose."

Farfarello swore fiercely, spitting flame. My power, my power, this body, this body!! "I'll have that prized head of yours!" Farfarello twisted his body around Raedou's, parts of the Ganzi's oddly-staped armor beginning to pierce the demon's body, but he did not care. Every scrap of rage he felt at his condition was channeled into trying to tear Raedou into as many pieces as possible.

Raedou struggled to get the demon off of his body, but that damn creature held on like nothing he had ever had the displeasure of dealing with.

Finally, he decided that he had enough of this.

Raedou frantically dug around in his pack with one hand while trying to keep Farfarello's vicious jaws away from his face with the other hand. Then, he held out a gold, ornate mirror with leafy designs on it's base, surrounding a crystal clear glass face. He shoved it in front of Farfarello's face, and it loosed a blinding flash of light, right into the demon's raging eyes. Farfarello was still holding on to him, mind dazed and pupils unnaturally enlarged to the point where only a small bit of white was left visible in his eyes. Farfarello slid off of Raedou's body, sprawled out onto his back.

"There..." sighed Raedou, obviously tired from such an energy consuming endeavor. "That should shut him up for a while."

Farfarello hadn't felt such pain since he'd left Hell. Numerous puncture and long scrape wounds dotted his belly, as he'd latched onto Raedou's armor quite tightly. He'd never seen a light near as bright as that, as the day he was testing out the sun's potency he'd had his power and it had been a bit cloudy. "What have you done!?" The demon shreiked; his vision was completely black and his eyes ached. He lashed rampantly on all fours, goring any tree he came across in the abundant forest.

Raedou frowned in frustration.

"Yet another of my 'whimsical items'."

He put the mirror back into his pack.

"There's more where the Fire Bannock and the Sky Mirror came from,
so I suggest you watch your mouth when you talk back to me."

He held out his hand.

"Now, come back to me, and I'll cure the blindness."

((Um... I know you two are friends, but... K-JAG, that was god-modding. You aren't to say whether Farfello can withstand 'so and so'... *lectures on for a little while* but if you're both okay with it, then nothing's wrong... *feels reluctantly authoritative*...

OH AND SORRY. MY INTERNET IS LITERALLY RETARDED. TAKES ME AN HOUR AFTER LOGGINGON TO BE ABLE TO DO ANYTHING.))

Ephlas made his way to Raedou, which involved a wide berth around Farfello, and almost slapped the fool. Almost.

"Raedou you fool," Ephlas said with a deep exhalation of breath, trying to keep quiet and to keep the frustration and anger out of his voice, "the Mindbreakers track magic."

Ephlas wasn't much concerned about the demon; but if Raedou had done anything to permanently harm the creature, then the Ganzi was much more powerful than he had let on.

"Can we just get into the relative safety of the mines, please?" Ephlas asked. "Once inside, I should make sure you both," he continued, ignoring Farfello, "know how to shield your minds at least acceptably."

Ephlas' hair seemed to be electrified, almost, and it wouldn't seem surprising if a tiny arc of lightning suddenly jumped from one strand to the next. This wasn't truly electricity, of course, but was still a curious effect of the magical battle.

Farfarello couldn't decide which he despised more; being blind or going back to Raedou's beckoned call for help. It was like being oppressed by the alchemist again, only he'd gotten something he wanted beforehand. The demon blinked rapidly, trying to bring back his sight on his own and failing. Farfarello snarled and jerked his head downward, tail lashing, feeling around with his hands. Feeling Raedou's, he nearly recoiled, but (with an amount of self control that deserves an award of sorts,) held on anyway, waiting for his sight.

"Urghah!" Clem shouted, snatching the mushroom he sought, "Finally! It's mine and... wait..." He realized that to reach it, he had let go of his stone by his body to grab one by the mushroom. he now could only descend one way... falling. "Oh Dark Knight's blade..." he swore. "I hope someone shows up soon..."

(Teh Dark Knight is mine!)

((Sorry about that... Ganzian techniques are a little bit over the top. The items, however, I could not help. Seriously, what are the odds that we will need to use Fire Bannock anywhere else in our journey? I wanted to use the idea, and Piebald was okay with it... We kind of plan these things at school, you know? Again, I'm sorry. I'll change the way he blinds Farfarello... maybe use a Deku Nut or something. XD))

Raedou looked at Ephlas, a bright fire in his eyes.

"You're point is well made." he said calmly, "I do not know what a Mindbreaker is, but you seem to be afraid of what they can do, so I will take your word for it that they are a force to be feared."

He turned to Farfarello, still holding on to his enormous hand, and put his free hand on the demon's head.

"I must apologize to you, Farfarello..." he mumbled, "I have been cold to you. After I heal you, I hope we can be friends..."

Raedou then used his free hand to search around his pack for a certain item, and pulled out a small cluster of yellow berries with green spots on them.

"These are Ganzian Powerberries. They can cure most ailments, but are unable to vanquish poison or paralysis. Eat them, and your blindness will wear off shortly. I am not lying this time."

He handed the berries to Farfarello, and then turned to Ephlas. A tear streamed from his eye as he held out his hand.

"Please, forgive me..." he said, "I'm truly sorry. From now on, I shall save my magic for the Horde."

He held his hand farther, hoping for some sign of acceptance...

Fayt was now near Eopia, glad that there were no enemies on his heels. if they were, he'd be dead and have his artifact stolen by now. Still, he felt that it was his duty to find the heir, and even if it killed him, (he hoped not,) he would still work towards finding them.

---

The howl of a mountain Shrak was what Clem didn't want to hear in his current position, but he heard it nonetheless.

To those who wouldn't know, a Shrak's cry is of the same pitch of an annoying cell phone beep, but has an underlying guttural howl, like a cough. It's a rised pitch, then flat for two seconds then it rises as it ends. depending on how loud it is, you can tell how close you are to the Shrak itself.

A Shrak is a creature the size of a large gorrilla. It's hide is like stone and matches the surroundings. the creature relies on sound and feeling to move and hunt prey, as it's eyes are almost blind. the underbelly of a Shrak is weak, except near the head, where the Shrak's maw of razor teeth is. Shraks are enemies to farmers, herders, children, or any unarmed traveller.

Unfortunately, Clem Ent filled the last slot on that list in spades.

Farfarello growled, blind. "Perrault, damn it! Are these okay?" Raedou seemed sincere enough, but the demon remembered what had happened the last time he'd excepted something from the ganzi too vividly. As he remembered this, a small snake of flame slithered from his mouth and he pretended not to notice.
