Faust had had the foresight to hide the scalpel, taping it lightly to his wrist so he could access it if there was need to. At first he thought he was seeing double, but then he realized that the boys were twins.

It felt as if electric currents had taken the place of blood in Faust's body. It was difficult to remain standing, but impossible to fall or kneel. He felt at once strained and exhilerated. "Netsubo, can you make it inside?" he asked.
