Layna went completely still at the sudden change in her mate. Her heart picked up the pace, as if it sensed the sudden danger. She slowly stood from the couch, adrenaline shaking her. "Ceon?" She said, her voice a barren whisper. All the good humor had died so quickly, it left her winded and cold. She didn't know what to expect, even though this had happened before.

Ceon let loose a harsh growl as he turned to his lycan form. He slowly rose and unsheathed his massive claws as he got closer and cloer to her, the growl turning to a vicious snarl. When he got close enough, his gray eyes met Layna's terrified ones, he could smell her fear. He started to bark at her as he raised one clawed arm high in the air.

Layna whimpered softly, fear shaking her body. She couldn't have moved if she had tried. "Ceon..." She murmured again, her heart thundering painfully. She raised her arm protectively above her. The other clutched her abdomen tightly.

Ceon snarled and he ducked, snapping at her lower right thigh. For some reason, Ceon didn't know why he was doing this, or why he couldn't control himself. Fear, anger, and love were all ramming to gether in his mind, each one trying to become the dominant emotion in his mind.

Layna crushed herself against the side of the couch, her eyes wide with fear. "Ceon!" She pleaded, even though she knew his ears were closed to her voice. She didn't want to retaliate at all. She didn't want to hurt him, her love.

Ceon ug his teeth deeper into Layna's thigh as he tried to drag her off of the couch and onto the floor. He ripped his head viciousl from side to side, Layna's warm blood in his mouth just drove him even crazier.

Layna cried out in pain as fangs plunged deeper into the soft flesh of her leg. Her arms held tightly to the couch as Ceon tried to pull her off. She kicked out with her other leg, trying to get him off of her. But her strength was fading as blood trailed down her leg. It made her dizzy and light-headed.

Ceon letgo of her thigh as he heard he cry out in pain. He tossed his head to the side and rammed himself hard against the wall. Her cries of pain were like torture to him, even in this berserk state he was in. He ferociosly bit one of his legs, trying to rid himself of that sound by giving himself pain.

Layna slumped to the wooden floor, her breath ragged as her heart thumped heavily in her chest. She stared out at Ceon, her eyes filling with tears as she watched Ceon deliberately bite himself. "Ceon..." She whispered, her voice pained by what she was seeing. It wasn't so much that she was hurt that made her voice so, but seeing Ceon in pain. She put a hand to her leg, already feeling the wounds beginning to heal.

Ceon turned back to his human form and screamed as he bashed his head as hard as he could against the wall. Blood, seeped from a cut on his head as he turned around and fell hard against the floor. He held a lost gaze into space as he whispered over and over. "It wasn't the vampire...it was me. I...killed them."

Layna stood up, and quickly made her way to Ceon. She sat down next to him, and pulled him to her until his head rested upon her lap. She pressed a hand to his forehead, the other stroked his cheek gently. "It couldn't have been your fault, dearest. You would never hurt your boys, or your wife..." She murmured, her voice soothing.

A tear rolled down Ceon's cheek and ended at Layna's soft hand, "But..I did. I remember it perfectly now. I was stressed from the war....Marissa was complaining that I was never home to help watch the boys....my boys were too afraid to even approach me because I went berserk a few times earlier that year. My vision went hazy..I lost my mind....I massacred all of them and ran out into the streets. When I came back I saw the vampire sucking on their dead bodies. I can't believe I didn't see that before."

Layna looked down at him, her face strained as memories roiled to the surface. "Oh Ceon..." She whispered, tears pattering into his hair. She couldn't stop herself from crying in sadness.

Ceon turned his head toward Layna so that one of her tears fell upon his skin. "Now I'm afraid that I'm going to do the same thing to you and our son. Layna, I love you so much, but I don't want history to repeat iself...not to you...not to us." Ceon wrapped his arms around Layna's waist and kissed her growing abdomen gently.

Layna whimpered softly, but a smile touched her lips, as a foot thumped against Ceon's lips. She laughed softly. "I believe we both say you shouldn't worry about it." She said, her grey eyes blazing.
