 He pulled Meme to the side of the path, helping him with his coat as he spoke. "So you'd rather I'd married the Princess, then?" he asked, voice just as soft as Meme's. "Some would say it was my fault, not knowing who my intended bride was. I'm the idiot in that scenario."

Soon-To-Be Wed.
Trapped. "Yes Father." She bowed her head and waited until her father was gone before having a private discussion with Akito. When she learnt that Kuro had the message for her, she immediately took Akito inside and to the bar. Whilst he asked for the best wine glasses available, she stood close to Kuro.
"You have a message?" she whispered, careful not to look at him.
♫♪♫♪♫ Akito Nakamura ♪♫♪♫♪ Akito followed the Princess inside, went to the bar and waited for the glasses to be given to him. He held the champagne bottle hidden beneath his cloak.

Meme blushed bright and shook his head. "N-No! Well...I mean...I-I don't know. I just feel bad that all of this is happening. I mean I could be killed for impersonation if the King ever found out." he said softly. Half of him wished he had never come to the castle in the first place, but the other half was glad he did as well. It was a battle that didn't seem to end with a peaceful resolution in Meme's mind. "I'm just glad that you were able to forgive me." he said as he placed his hand on Rufus' and looked up at him with a small smile.

Kuro looked up at the bartender and requested a glass of whiskey and a glass of their finest wine for the lady. "Yes your highness." he said softly as he reached into the pocket inside his jacket, pulling out a letter with the Prince's seal on it and sliding it over to her under his other arm so nobody would suspect anything. Kuro sipped at the whiskey that stung his throat and gave a soft sigh. "I trust the wait wasn't too extensive." he said softly, only giving her a small glance as if they were engaging in casual conversation instead of a conspiracy.

The Prince shrugged. "The Princess wanted to marry someone else, so we might have had trouble anyway. We just have to make sure he has the chance to calm down before he finds out we're married. It'll all be fine." He held Meme's hand as they walked. "As long as you're not cheating on me, we'll get along fine."

♫♪♫♪♫ Akito Nakamura ♪♫♪♫♪ He accepted the glasses and then 'noticed' the Princess had a glass of wine. "My lady, I shall wait here until you have finished your drink. I need to relieve myself." He left the champagne and glasses under her care and headed for the toilet.
The Princess accepted the champagne bottle as she nodded to Kuro. "My father is angered by the wait, but for me it was not too long. I do not want to marry your Prince." she whispered.

Meme nodded, squeezing the Prince's hand a bit tightly. He trusted that Rufus knew what he was doing but he was still worried. How could a plan go so accordingly without any mistakes? "Don't worry, I would never do such a thing to you. I believe there is one person for everyone, not two or three." he said softly as they kept walking, Meme was obviously still distracted with his current train of thought of how everything was going to turn out.

Kuro gave a small nod. "And my Prince does not wish to marry you, my dear. The feeling is mutual." he said softly, ordering another drink but being careful not to order too many, as he needed to remain lucid enough to pull off this complicated plan. "But it is my job to find the man you do wish to marry and help you in your endeavor. Point him out, make him known to me and I shall complete your wish." he said softly as he watched the bartender make his drink, giving the man a bit of a flirting wink.

Rufus slowed to a halt. "So how do you know I'm the one for you? I did tell you that once my father - and the world as a whole - knows about our marriage, it's very unlikely we'll be able to get a divorce. So if you think you might have made a mistake... well, make sure to tell me before I tell my father."
He just wanted to give Meme an out in case he didn't really want to be married. It would hurt, but it would be better than having Meme find his 'true love' in a few years time, at which point the Prince would be fully committed to their marriage and royally pissed (worse than previously) if Meme cheated.

Trapped. She watched as the bartender blushed, then turned to Kuro. "I... he..." she gulped. "He wouldn't go against my father. He's," she lowered her voice even more, "my father's main bodyguard. Really good at his job, but my age and so sweet - to me, anyway." She straightened her back and looked Kuro in the eye. "Don't flirt with him. He's mine, even if he can't be with me."

Meme blushed and stared at the ground. "I'm not sure.....I remember seeing you and the King at the slave market. One of the slaves refused to look up at the King and he almost bashed the poor woman's head in. You stepped between them to stop him. I guess it was around that time that I knew I had to at least meet you." he said softly as he continued to walk with the Prince. "Every time I heard you were in town I tried my hardest to sneak away and watch you. I guess you could say I stalked you." he said with a little laugh. "But I just knew you were much different from what people said."

Kuro shook his head. "You have nothing to worry about my dear, I have no interest in him....my interests have been directed toward.....someone else." he said softly, Kuro wasn't about to let her know who he was most interested in, you never know who else might be listening. "I can help you. I will bring food to your father's table and try to get his body guard alone with you somehow." he said softly, knowing the Princess would know what to do at that point.

Rufus stared at Meme, blushing. "You saw me then? Wow. But I am not so noble as all that - you've seen me when I'm furious, so how can you not have changed your opinion about me?" He looked away and let go of Meme's hand as he spoke, walking a little ahead of him.

Trapped. She glanced over her shoulder, curious as to whether the other servant was the one he was interested in. "Then we run off together? We need more time - he won't go against my father! Is there some way we could convince my father that we're meant for each other?"
Just as she was about to continue the attempt to plan on her feet, she noticed the servant backing out of the toilets. Fast."Sire, I am here on business for your son! I cannot - please, we don't know each other." Akito was blushing brightly and limping a little as he tried to evade Rufus' father's hands without causing offence.
He'd noticed the King watching him, but he'd ignored it.. until he felt the other man get closer. He couldn't protest forever, but if he could at least act innocently shy then he could get away temporarily. Later he'd 'distract' the King any way he could; for now he had to get the Princess back to her father.

Meme shrugged. "Everyone gets angry. It was scary when you got angry and a bit violent but...if I were in your shoes I think I might have done the same thing." he said softly, a bit disappointed that the Prince let go of his hand. "Besides, even I have to admit that from your point of view things must have looked very sketchy. I don't blame you for being angry."
Alaric had been out away from home for so long, even the servants were enticing to him. He clawed and pulled at Akito, the young boy had aged well in the time he had been gone. Alaric mostly ignored Akito's cries but he was beginning to become annoyed with the young man, grabbing the boy's arm rather violently. "You will do as I say, boy. I hired you, and I will do what I wish with you." he hissed with a poisonous tongue, bringing the boy onto his lap.

Kuro had to give this some thought, it was true that the bodyguard wasn't going to leave her father's side, if he was loyal anyways. "Blackmail is always a popular choice." He said softly, though he doubted the Princess had any ludicrous pictures on her person handy. Kuro was left with thinking of something else. "Is there anything he prizes?" he asked softly, though the most obvious answer would be the Princess.

Rufus looked back at him, shaking his head. "I don't think you could ever be like that, Meme. Not even when you're angry." He smiled, taking hold of Meme's hand again. "Just tell me when you're ready for lunch."

Trapped. "His honor. But if he thinks he's betrayed my father then he'll never let himself be happy. I'll try to find something to blackmail him, or my father, with. I don't know!" She'd been distracted by Kuro's line of thought, but now she admired the way the servant - Akito, was it? - was quietly trying to disentangle himself.
Akito tried to keep himself sat on Alaric's knee, avoiding more intimate contact. "Sire, I would be pleased to see you later - the King, along with his daughter, is waiting on me. Please," he fluttered his eyelashes, knowing his voice had gone soft and enticing, "allow me to pour them champagne and I shall then return to you. Please."

Meme placed his hand on his stomach. "Actually, a little snack doesn't sound like a bad idea." he said softly, all this walking was starting to make him hungry but he didn't want to eat a whole lot, since they needed to make the food they had stretch for a bit longer. "By the way....would you have even blinked twice at me if I were to have approached you as a peasant?" he asked curiously as it had weighed on his mind a bit.
Alaric grumbled, the boy was right. He knew the boy needed to attend to his duties which made him all the more frustrated. "Fine, but make it quick. If you haven't returned soon, I'll be looking for you and I won't be as gentle if I have to hunt you down." he said in a slightly threatening tone as he released the boy.

Kuro took a sip of his drink and gave a soft sigh as he felt the alcohol burn his esophagus pleasantly. "Leave the blackmail to me. I wouldn't want a young lady such as yourself to become involved in such a dirty task." he said softly, though he was careful about his tone so she didn't think he was being sarcastic. Kuro stood and left a few gold coins to pay for the drink before he walked upstairs in search of the Princess's father. Kuro headed up the stairs rather rapidly, running into Akito quite literally and nearly falling backwards down the stairs. Akito appeared to be in a little bit of distress. "Akito? What's wrong?" he asked, placing his hands on the boy's small shoulders.

The moment Meme asked for lunch, the Prince released his hand and started to spread out the blanket beside a tree with a low-hanging branch. Yet when he heard the question posed to him, he left the basket on the blanket and turned to his husband. "I might have done - but how am I to say when it did not happen?"
He paused for a moment, then leant against the tree, arms folded. "Would you have run up to me, making up some excuse to introduce yourself or ask for my help? Or would you have stood silently back, waiting to see whether I noticed you whilst you just stood there?" He thought it a fair question.
Twenty.

Soon-To-Be Wed.
Trapped. The Princess nodded to Kuro, then proceeded to ask for a drink of water. She needed some time alone, to think.
Akito nodded to Alaric, trying his best not to scramble from the room too quickly, just in case it offended him. He collected the bottle of champagne from behind the bar, along with the best glasses, and formally thanked the Princess for looking after them.
But once on the stairs he collapsed into the wall, feeling light headed despite his assurances to Kuro that he would distract Alaric whenever he needed to. When Kuro ran into him, he tried to hold onto everything and his balance.
"I-I'm fine. Alaric- well, he's here. Sooner than I expected him to be." Trying to distract him, Akito forced a smile. "Where are you headed?"

Meme didn't reply right away, it was a difficult question to answer, one that needed a bit of thought. He grabbed a few rolls from the basket and began to munch on those before he spoke. "I don't think I would have. When you're a servant, if you talk to the people trying to buy you...not only will it decrease your chances of being bought but you also get beaten by the current owner. It's disgraceful to talk to those with a higher class." Meme didn't have any scars on his body from any beatings, that was because he usually didn't do anything that would cause a whipping, the only marks that used to be on his body were big bruises. But those heal with time. Meme watched other slaves be beaten and whipped for talking to the people who bought them. It was enough to scare Meme into being smarter than that.

Kuro's grip on Akito's shoulders tightened as his anger rose. "What did he do?" he asked rather disdainfully. Alaric had a nasty habit of treating the help as he wished simply because his money was traded for the servants and Akito was most often Alaric's favorite choice for some unknown reason.

Rufus nodded. "If I was with my father, then no. I didn't want to look at the servants until he was 'on vacation' somewhere, or at least until I knew he was far enough away from me not to start hitting on - or hitting - the servants that were kind to me." He shrugged, trying to stop himself from feeling guilty. "Now... now I can hit him back, or distract him somehow."

Trapped. "H-he complimented me on growing up so well." Akito kept the fact that Alaric had said it in a far more suggestive way to himself. He shuddered; the King's words implied that he could 'finally' pursue Akito after waiting for him to grow up, to 'bloom'. Since he'd been brought into the King's stables when he was about 15, and Alaric had been absent since soon after he'd started work... it was unsettling.

Meme stayed quiet for a little bit after Rufus spoke, it was rather sad to hear him speak about his father in such a way. "You turned out a lot better than him, you know. I mean, you have his temper but you don't abuse it like he does." he said softly, trying to cheer the Prince up a little bit as he smiled and continued to munch on the rolls.

Kuro knew Akito wasn't telling the whole truth and he could feel the rage bubbling inside him but he had other things he needed to get done first. "I will deal with him later, you try to avoid him the best you can. Use any excuse you can find until I can talk to him." He said softly, passing Akito on the stairs and continuing to his climb toward the King. Once he entered Kuro bowed respectfully. "My leige, I wish to speak with you on behalf of my master Prince Rufus."

Rufus shook his head. "Sometimes I do, but I try to remember what I felt when he was like that with me." He'd lost his appetite, so he offered Meme an apple. "Are you hungry - or thirsty?"

Trapped. "No! You'll get into trouble with him! I can avoid him, so please don't-!" He'd kept his voice quiet, urgent, but Kuro was going past him anyway. Akito tried to catch Kuro's arm since he was supposed to be going to see King Lionel first, since the champagne was getting warm. He'd had enough of being in trouble with Kings today.
King Lionel nodded to Troy, signalling him to leave and close the door behind him. He trusted his bodyguard to remain outside, alert to any suspicious sounds coming from inside the room without paying attention to what was said.
He was tired, ready to be rid of the idiotic King Alaric, and unsure whether the alliance was worth all this hassle. But at least his daughter would be safely married, with someone who could protect her.
Kuro had some nerve, and the other servant was clearly useless since it'd been an hour since Akito had promised champagne. "State your position, provide proof that you speak for Prince Rufus and then I shall listen to your speech."
