*Raises hand* I already had the near death experience. Trust me, you don't want it. It does make you take life less seriously though. I act more like about age 6.

I only felt old because a friend is due to die. A cat I sort of adopted got hit by a car a while back, and it knocked his pelvis out of whack. now he can still hunt, still walk and run and such, just with a limp. The problem is nerve damage- he has no feeling in his tail, can't move it, and his bum no longer works. Evidently he hasn't gone poo for a long time, and is about to burst internally.
I was upset because I don't have any way to get him taken care of- either way. Even euthanasia is too expensive- $70 at all three vets here in town. I just hate that I can't help him move to a place where he won't feel pain anymore.
*points to siggy* Never put life before living. Don't be so obcessed with living a long life that you don't enjoy the time you have, is my view on that. Hell, I have no intention of living too much longer anyway. Family medical history is not all that great, so even if I ran five miles and only ate veggies the rest of my days, it won't do that much good.
Besides, it is always that jogger that runs incessantly sucking on a carrot that gets run over by an overweight trucker eating a bacon cheeseburger. I'd rather enjoy myself and be the driver.

I know it sounds brutal, but which is less brutal, a quick death or a slow painful death from injuries? Now I might sound like some horrible horrible person, but we actually have to kill kittens at my cottage. We have loads of stray cats around that an old woman has been feeding, they're all wild (meaning you can't pet them, not even get close to them) and the eat all the wild birds' eggs... so to stop a catastrophy (both them killing the other animals + their babies and transmitting diseases to other animals like foxes) from happening we had to make sure the kittens we find each year in our barn get killed neutral It's gotten better lately though, the old woman stopped feeding the cats and we also got a dog. No more kitten killing, it breaks my heart.

Thank god I don't have to do that! I hope things go better for you Talon-sama! Poor kitteh. We had a really old one with horrible arthritis, and it was much easier when she was gone. Best of luck *gluggles*
