You know what's sad?
I know kids in high school, currently, who have no idea what the USSR, Warsaw Pact, or Cold War were.

I mean, that's the greater chunk of the 20th century, one of the most significant events... and nope, no clue. -_-
Came up as I was watching an episode of "Are you smarter than a 5th grader?" at a friend's house. I got this million dollar geography question wrong, which was "What country has the longest shared border with Russia".
Tried explaining to his kid that when I was in 5th Grade the maps and globes didnt' show "Russia", but just the huge block called the USSR.
In which I found that knowledge gap.

Khazikstan.
My friend answered "China".
Which I knew was wrong and replied "Mongolia" as that was true with the USSR, but was edged out when the outer stated splintered off.

Kazakstan along with most of the other -stan contries in Europe were all orriginally states in the USSR, so if what you say is correct Sato, when you learned geography Kazakstan was actually a part of the 'russia' of your time.
