Then maybe... it wasn't meant to be.

It all could be in the content, or perhaps, the people. o_o I'm no professional, though, but I really think the patience to just stick it out through the dry spell would be the best way to work it. ^^

*shrug*

I've been on here for... almost 2 years... heh...
Like I said, i'm probably ot going to leave, but i'm not going to be very active, either...

It was around my two year mark that I started getting bored, too. x3 Maybe it's a two-year thing? I really started to get homesick for the old feel of the website. u.u

Eh.... Old feel, old friends, the feeling of being new to roleplaying and such...

If I can put in my own two cents here, I'd say you're both right.

I've stated a lot before that I'm a pretty avid roleplayer (i.e. it's like, my whole existence evar), but even I get burnt out on it every once in a while. It's like, a lull in your imagination. It can happen sometimes if you're just tired or you're working a lot, or you've got stuff going on in your life. But in my experience you usually go on for a while, doing ho-hum this and ho-hum that until you hit on something that really nails you and you get really excited about...maybe it's just a change of pace that you need, or maybe a change of theatre, so to speak. Like, a few years back, fantasy became pretty dead to me, just because it was always the same...it didn't matter what game we did, they were always the same old dungeon crawls, the same old stereotypes of characters, blah blah freakin' blah. It was boring as hell for everyone involved...creativity in the group died out, people stopped joking, having fun. Roleplaying becomes like, a chore, instead of a game.

But then we changed the formula, and instead of doing the usual, my brother was like "Hey, let's be...pirates!" And we ended up doing a sea campaign after that. It required a whole new idea, a whole new strategy, new things to think about, new things to worry about and new character concepts to build on. There was like a whole new sense of comraderie...instead of "Adventure Group 19d" with the same old spells, the same old plate mail, the same old fighters and the same old same old CRAP, we were something totally different, every single one of us. And that one game was enough to completely enliven the spirit of roleplaying, at least for me.

So maybe you're just getting sick of doing the same old stuff OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER again, and understandably so.

So my personal advice? Stick with it, but try to do something you haven't ever experimented with before. You might hate it, but you might love it, too. ANd with enough time you might just get the old spark back for all the stuff you're doing now. ^.^

/soapbox=

Or you might just need a fresh look at it all. I suggest elfonlyinn.com. (Start with the first one)

It is illegal to not tell someone when you are recording a conversation, Heiwa.

Souno, welcome to the RPR!

Well, heiwa, most of these strange ways are based upon what the peope call themselves or are a variation of that langauge (although this isn't always the case). To add, it is also what sounds best on the toungue occassionally.

Well, Chinese is supposed to be harder, because of the individual character deal, but who really knows? It would vary for each person based on how their mind best interperts grammar changes and the like.

Right, K 19!

Okay, Merlinic! Be back soon! *waves*

Eh, apathy collects. They say familiarity breeds contempt. Everything gets old after a while. Maybe a short hiatus would be in order. Just wait until Galvan 2 comes out.

*grabs on to Goosey* NO! Listen to K 19, for she speaks truthfully.

The problem is that a dry spell can turn into a drought. Causing all sorts of depression.

Ugh, with all of the horrible changes that have taken place, I would almost leave if it wasn't for some of my friends here (and my numerous responsibilities here). Although, since school started (which may be a part of your lack of motivation, Goosey), it seems like my 5 best friends (the online only ones, that is) have disappeared.

Dana, what you say is all correct. I mean, when I play games or really do ANYTHING. I go crazily obsessive about that one thing for the longest time. Then, all of a sudden, I compleetly lose interest and am bored to death. So, I move on to something else. The cycle repeates until I get bcak to the original thing I was doing with a renewed interest and plenty more ideas. I mean, would you be content to eat the same meal every day of your life for breakfast, lunch, and dinner? I think not. Mix it up a little.

EDIT: Your link isn't working, Garlic. The original site seems to have been taken donw a whoile ago, although, through search engines, I can see various references to the site all around the web (particularly on blogs).

It isn't working? Which one, the elfonlyinn? Hold on, let me try and pull it up and get the whole thing.

(Gotta love the Opera Browser =D )

And I see why it's not working...it's http://www.elfonlyinn.net/

Like I said though, start with the first one...the series starts off a bit slow but it gets a LOT better. One of my all-time faves ^.^

Yoder, your ability to answer that many posts in a single one yourself is crazy. xD

Yeah, that was the one of which I spoke.

Okay, thanks! That site is great, by the way. xd

Well I've stayed on Gaia for this long only because I've moved from on thing to another the whole time.

Exchange -> Avatar Talk -> Breedables -> Roleplaying -> Roleplaying in Guilds -> Art forums -> a mixture of them all, spiced with a little Q&A+GGD

And then I'd feel bad if I wouldn't check up on this place rofl

(thanks Yoder...i was thinking you tell them you're recording and then they won't bug you cause they're nervous.)

Weeeeeeee I used to be here cause i found a Wiccan guild, then i lost interest and found roleplaying...and it's been a match made in heaven...i mean an addiction...ever since.

Me, I can't say I do all the much RPing around here- but when I do get in one it is rare that I fade out of it. Now, there are a mass of guilds that call me a member, but at least half of them are almost never visited. Sometimes it is a shame of mine that I am not in more RPs, but it is an eventuality of having a life first. neutral
