There's more to a game than just shiny visuals. Though this is Relic we're talking about, almost as god-like as Valve. Plus they did Company of Heroes, so they are solid winners in my books straight away.
I may be a bit biased, but I don't think that even Homeworld and Company of Heros can compare to Half Life and Portal. (I don't care what anyone says, the two hours it took to go through the story still kicks the s**t out of most other games I've played.) For me the biggest and the best are Valve, Blizzard, and Bioware. Oh, and Ion Storm. Despite that they made Daikatana, they still made Deus Ex.

I can only hope to god that most of the races make it. If they're gonna rape our wallets to regain those other factions then I won't do it!
I'm sticking to my same stance, I care not for shiny graphics (literally, in this case) or how many races are in the game, I just want them to make it well.

Does making it well not include more variety for playing longer without getting bored?

Xenos, comparing RTS' to shooters is silly and not something to do as they are leagues apart.

I'm excited to see cover in action.

My apologies. I didn't mean to compare the games themselves, rather their grandure and influence. Quake trumps Empire Earth II in this respect because it was... what it was. Know what I mean?

@Sanity- As am I. Apparently like three magazines next month are covering it, so hopefully a lot of new information is inbound soon.

If referring to the ingame cover and squad mechanics, play the Company of Heroes demo and you'll see just how neat the cover mechanics are with the Essence engine. Troops will automatically disperse and find good cover if in their direct vicinity.

edit.

Destroyed vehicles will leave wrecks, which you can also use as cover or blow up with big guns or drive over with heavy vehicles.

Relic
"Leveraging our critically acclaimed Essence Engine 2.0, gamers will develop and lead an elite strike force through Games Workshop's war-torn universe, engage in devastating combat among the ruins of fully destructible battlefields, and be immersed in an ever-changing single-player and co-op multiplayer campaign."

So, what does that mean? Not every faction is considered "an elite strike force" besides the Space Marines.

That you can probably either receive Honour Guards again or that units can gain XP like in Company of Heroes and Opposing Fronts and keep those units over the course of the game.

A good comparison (having never played CoH or OF) would Battle for Middle Earth. At every battle you begin the exact force that you ended the previous battle with. Things gain experience, become more powerful, gain honors and abilities, etc.

Only Lord of the Rings can never compare to WWII games that throw gibs and profanity at you.

We'll prolly get new info on DoW II somewhere around Summer, E3 et all.

Even the fact that Assault Marines jump in arcs now excites me. I think that maybe the Marines will be able to get an attack in as they land, getting a nice little advantage in CC.
