More freak weather I heard on the news, how's everything going?
PostPosted: Sat Feb 09, 2013 9:47 am

Not bad, actually. Ridiculous amount of snow, but we haven't lost power (Obviously.), and it's light fluffy snow so not that hard to move. Yet. Apparently we get rain in a couple days... >.>

TT^TT You northerners get all the weather.

Where I live it's just windy, windy, windy, windy. At least 20mph wind daily. TT^TT

At least you get cool wind... its 80+ degrees here year round.

It depends on the seasons. Sometimes in the summer we get a 90 degree wind hitting us on a 112 degree day. TT^TT Barely an improvement. We keep selling our water to other states, so we don't have enough to produce our man made lakes which cooled our state anymore.

We actually only get enough rain to make fog maybe once a year as things stand. We were lucky to have two days this year. ( I like fog. looks cool. ) Otherwise the ground just drinks it all up to keep us able to continue to mass farm it. At this rate, our state will eventually sell all of our water stored up in the ground and then we'll go bankrupt. I kinda want to see what happens when a state goes bankrupt and the government is in too much internal turmoil because one party rules and the other is oppressed and resists.

I'm very much interested in seeing if our country is capable of withstanding a state caving in on itself, and a state of slums being created. ^>^ If it happens within my lifetime, I bet it'll be a sight to remember.

EDIT:

Wow, that derailed quickly from weather patterns. sweatdrop

Just ignore the rest of that post.

That is an interesting thought, for me at least. Seeing as that is basically what happens in the island I know what its like, and it isn't pretty. The money in the island goes mainly to drug trade and traffic, and with a murder rate that almost equals Texas', from an island being around 112 x 40 miles, only 40.6% of the people work here ( the rest take government handouts ) and no one does anything to change. Today's generation only has two choices; you either get out, or get killed. It isn't a pretty sight, but its basically what a ' backrupt state filled with slums ' will look like.

4 hours late to work? I don't think its worth going to work if you're that late, that is if you have a 7-8 hour shift.

Hmm...

I wonder if a "hero" will someday rise from your nation, or if it'll simply fall further. I'm in no way shape or form suggesting anything, but I wonder how it would play out if a single person mobilized the entire nation to fight the current system. It seems like it would be an amazing sight to behold. Would truth and honesty win in the end, or would the current regime stay standing despite the people's will. It's an interesting thought experiment to say the least. 3nodding

Then you've got the all too boring "Knight in shining armor" who comes from a different place. Basically he ends up being a metaphorical prophet and leads the people to freedom. Nice story, but it isn't nearly as nice as the "Hero". Makes for a much less fun thought experiment, but then again, it would require either massive amounts of trust to be nearly immediately placed in the stranger, or massive amounts of distrust to be fuel for trust to the stranger.

Sounds like a good idea, I've thought about being that hero many times, but there's one big problem. You've got to go against the U.S Army. Puerto Rico is an american territory. TO defeat the current system means defeating the American Armed Forces, which is a very large feat not easily obtained by any means. With sufficient funds and man power I could do it, but I'd die in the end, and my girlfriend wouldn't want that. American Colonialism is still much alive today.

Then wait until the US is in turmoil. If my state goes under, and a revolt is staged, then it would draw troops away from your country.

Or, rise to a position of power in politics, or have someone else do it. This way you can bargain with the US government to withdraw. Given the current government, you could easily have them withdraw from your country, allowing a coup d'e`tat of the people of your country to overthrow the current drug regime. Or maybe you could even have the US armed forces lend you some fire power. I'd much rather you not, so the next president can't use that as leverage to regain your country as a principality.

Basically, I'd wait until another country is fighting for it's life before you take the upper hand and fight for yours. Maybe we can finally get everyone mobilized and either plunge the world into darkness or bring it to the light. Either one is fine with me. I consider myself a third party consultant in any event that I may have the privilege of mediating. ^>^
