Emma waited until they were both well out of earshot before giggling to herself.
They certainly were an interesting pair.
But now she was alone again in the Tavern, and hoping for somebody else to come in.

Vii lit some kindling but her icy breath put the fire out before it spread. Trying again, she lit more of the fodder, igniting her scarf in the process. The thing flailed about wildly and Vii squealed in panic rushing to the huge sink behind the bar and turning on the water, attempting to submerge the fiery material. The fire spread because of all the ignitable liquor and soon Vii would be engulfed. ★★★★★★★

Emma leaped from her seat, cursing her lack of power.
But she could call in a favor.
A quick telepathic message later and a wave of water appeared from thin air, drenching both of them but putting out the fire in the process.
Not exactly elegant, but certainly effective.

Scared beyond rational thought the soaked Vii leaped over the bar and collapsed into the large soft red suede couch, assuming the fetal position and staring blankly into the space in front of her wide terrified eyes. Fire was the one thing that she fear above all, it was a huge weakness to her now, but even in life she'd feared it. ★★★★★★★

Emma shook most of the water from her skirts as she sat beside Vii, staying silent.
Better to observe for a moment and see what could be done. Acting immediately would be rash.
The headache intensified, a little more power returning to her.

"T-thank Y-ou-u-u.." Vii stuttered through shaking lips once she'd realized that the Enchantress was near. Inhaling a deep breath of fresh tavern air, the overwhelming smell of wood burning was pleasant and somehow invigorating. Sitting up after a moment of realizing everything was intact and as it should be among her person, Vii recalled where the wood had come from and knew instantly why it might have had a hand in her change of temperament. "I knew that was a bad idea." She mumbled looking into her open palm, the lighter laid in fragments in her small granite hand, crushed by the vampire's fear manifested. ★★★★★★★

Emma nodded, her hands folded calmly in her lap.
A stab of pain lanced through her skull, and she put an exasperated hand to her temple.

"Aspirin? Scotch? More Tea?" She asked especially quietly as to not disturb the Lady, noting her apparent headache.

Skutz looked up, then back down to her paperwork, "ugh..." she moaned. Never had she liked paperwork, much less a paper about a dead poet. Her school was a pain, but the papers were needed.

"Alcohol would only slow the process, but more tea would be lovely, thank you."
She winced again, but it was a different sort of pain. Like a broken bone being set, a necessary agony.

Nodding to Emma, Vii skittered off to the bar, passing by Skutz's table in the process. "Can I get you something?" She asked politely, noting the clutter and most likely the stress associated. ★★★★★★★

Emma closed her eyes, concentrating for a moment.
A violet sphere of magelight appeared above a raised fingertip, flickering out a few seconds later.
But it was a good sign.

The tea was steaming in swirling flourishes above the modest looking teacup. She placed it on the table for Emma and then assumed a seat near her. "What happened, if I might ask?" The little vampire asked timidly, smiling kindly at the sorceress and then grabbing her sash and inspecting the spot that was singed, but self-replicating itself as she watched. ★★★★★★★

"Samhain happened. It's the same every year. In the weeks leading up to it, I always have an increase in power. Then, the day after, it all vanishes and I'm left with nothing but a spark."
But it came back. It always came back.
There was an emotional component as well; the night had left her distressed, to say the least, and it affected her magic.
But that was not information to be given away lightly.

Skutz looked up to take a break from the writing, she couldn't concentrate for long periods. "Rah...." She sat back and watched Emma and Vii for the time being.
