darth603 Suchu my fire warriors won close combat with a chaos lord, of course they had the help of dun dun dun! AUN'SHI!!!! Well... that's because he's Aun'shi. Aun'shi is the Tau version of a Genestealer. Aun'Shi is freaking awesome! Who do you like better? Aun'Shi or O'Shavah?

O'Shovah because whenever Aun'shi enters CC, he has to do it alone. I dont care if you send in firewarriors or anything else, he has to kill everything single-handedly. O'Shovah can get some people to help him.

Here's an inspirational pic for all of us Tau players out there. This is my old Shas'o from my original Tau army, and possibly the only figure from said army fit to be photographed (although his bodyguards are in fairly decent shape and may get photographed soon enough). Ironic that he's in the same configuration as the new Shas'o in the test list, complete with the multi- tracker he 'hardwired' into his missile pod. And yes, I really did make a hole in his crotch so I could put him in a more 'active' pose. Hope you enjoy. Oh, and Baratos... Shas'aun'shi doesn't have to remain independent. He can be assigned to a squad of Fire Warriors to be his bodyguard, in which case he loses his IC status.

Its not that hard, really. I started with a black- primed battlesuit and drybrushed it grey (although I don't remember which grey- shadow grey?). The missile pods and plasma cores were then painted green, and the optics in the helmet and multi- tracker were painted white, then glazed with magenta ink. At some point the helmet and the flat surface were painted Liche Purple.
Although a lot of practice helps.

Bah. Does anyone have any tips for a Tau army? I currently have a large Eldar force and a very small Chaos force but I am switching to Tau. Suggestions? Anyone?

Greetings to all, I bare the word of the Greater Good for you all.
If you receive this message it means that I have successfully joined the 40k guild and have begun posting properly in the name of the one true destiny, The Great Good.
My Tau army recently fought in a tournament at my local games club. Out of 10 participants we ranked 3rd place with but a point from second place and 2 points from 1st. It's all because we tied instead of one the last of 3 fights that we did not recieve the top mark. But even so, it was a day to remember with many great times, so excellent battles and not only my first match against a GW representative but as well my first time defeating a GW representative.
For those of you who care to know, it was a 1700 take and hold mission. He was Iron Warriors and I was of course my Vior'la Ukos Hunting Cadre. The battle was swift with the abuse of the 4th edition rules. Area Terrain is great for saving your Fire Warriors while Crisis and Stealth teams move into position to hunting down all that oppose the Tau.
The game was done in 1 hours time with only 4 turns played. In the end, my casualties were minimal. Some gun drones were lost that can easily be replaced, my favoured HammerHead Gunship Sharky however fell to the blast of a Basilisk after taking out a Vindicator. 2 Crisis Suit members fell fending off 6 Obliterators but we managed to cut them down in size while the stealth team, Broadsides and fire warriors took care fo the chaos marine squadrons.
Over all it was a very memorable battle and I hope to face more opponents like him as it was by far my most enjoyable game in 5 years of playing as there were no problems with rules, no misunderstandings but of course lots of fun jokes and taunts shared which made it all the better.
~Until next time, Shas'O Mont'ka
