Mie-tanuki Sayael had already removed his mask. He was standing a few paces beyond the doorway, mask held in two hands near his waiste. He stood perfectly still, eyes closed, facing away from the door and the party. A cold breeze blew his hair to one side and the chair in his hair tinkled softly. He didn't seem to notice the other. (The chair in his hair? XDDD) When seeing the other, Dax immediatly come to halt a few feet away. Was the prince just trying make himself look overly dramatic or was he actually up to something? Quirking a brow, he eyed the other cautiously, knowing he could never be too careful with his assumptions. "Do you always visit your allying nation with an offending tongue?" he asked.

((Ack! Dx I meant "charm"... bleh... I was multi-tasking and very distracted when I wrote that... >.>;; )) He shrugged, not turning around. "I'll say what I want. I don't like keeping things inside. It's untrue. And I'm a spiteful person, anyway, don't you think?" He turned around, smiling, although it was a bitter smile. "So why shouldn't I say spiteful words?"

( xd Totally understand)
"Because something as simple as words can be the cause of potential enemies," Dax stated, offering no visual amusement to that sour smile being cast his way. "Though you and I are yet to rule, your insults are dampering any chance at strengthening our Kingdoms' bonds when I ascend to the throne."

He shrugged. "Allies or no allies, I have no intention of ruling." He turned away from the other again, not wanting to explain himself. Secrets were meant to stay secrets and were not to be shared - especially not with those whom he did not trust.

That definitely struck curiosity into the Ice Prince. Though there were those who didn't want to rule, it was a set duty. It was something expected of each prince. "I don't believe you will get away from the throne so easily," he said. And of course, he had to ask- "Why is it you want to run from the responsibility? Does the thought of real power frighten you?"

Mie-tanuki ((I drew Jillian. Don't ask me why he's wearing jeans when he lives in a world where jeans don't exist... >.>;; http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/33436570/ )) He lead the boy to the cart, opening the door for him and waited to enter after the other. The ride to the Ice Kingdom took a relitively short time - one reason the Kingdom of Death was so fortunate to be in the exact center of the Nation. The carriage stopped gently after comming through a set of ornate gates made of pure ice-crystal. He stepped out of the carriage and was glad for the traveling cloak around himself. It was very cold. He offered his arm to Faryn. "Shall we?" Faryn remained relatively silent the whole ride there, his black eyes staring out the window as the Kingdom's scenery morphed once they crossed the border. Why did his father have to force such a flirtatious date upon him? He knew that probably once they arrived at the ball, Jillian would become his usual social-butterfly self. Once they arrived and the carriage door was opened, Faryn was almost immediately greeted with the same harsh, winter wind. Following Jillian, the smaller male stepped down from the carriage and dutifully took the other's arm. His other hand held the crafted, golden eye mask at his side for a moment. Then, he pressed it to his face, the ornate mask surrounding the teen's eyes and sharply contrasting with his silver hair. "Where's your mask?" he muttered as they walked up the palace stairs, new fallen snow crunching beneath their feet. He could already hear music floating from inside the icicle-laced palace. ((aww so cute<3. Oh and I edited that last post of mine x_X ... messed that up just a bit xD))

He smiled. "I doubt I would need one. Everyone knows who I am, anyway. But if you insist..." He paused for a moment, reaching into a pocket and withdrawing a glittering mask of swirling mother-of-pearl. It had been tinted slightly towards a more blue-green, but there were many colors in its depths. They strode into the ballroom and he was immidiately greeted by the king of the land. He smiled. "Ah... I suppose I should try harder to disguise myself next time..." He removed his coat and handed it to a servant to hang up. He looked around at the glittering array set round the room. In the middle was a dance floor and quite a few people were dancing.
Sayael smiled frostilly, turning his head slightly so that he could look towards the other over his shoulder. "Tell me... have you ever been outside the Nation?" he asked, a strange glint in his eyes. They seemed to glow, two peicingly green points in the darkness, almos like a cat's.

Faryn gave a subtle eye roll at the other's seemingly arrogant response, but was glad for the mask he wore nonetheless. It was a masquerade; they were obligated to wear masks as guests. Once inside, however, the fair prince was further miffed as the King of Ice greeted his escort before him. A normal person would've understood: Faryn was rarely ever seen outside of the castle. Despite the close proximity, he'd only made one trip to the Kingdom of Ice before when he was about 6 years old. His father had decided he should meet their prince, Dot or some oddly short name. As a boy, he was little less of a recluse, but ... he and the ice prince seemed to get along. At least, that was his recollection. The other was nearly as reserved as he was at the time. He didn't remember if he'd done anything against the other... unless he pulled on his hair or something childish like that. Faryn wasn't your average, normal person. And apparently, relatively easy to offend. To add insult to internalized injury, not only did Jillian neither introduce him, he didn't step aside so that he could introduce himself How in the DEVIL'S name could his father find Jillian a suitable escort and possible suitor while Faryn currently found him entirely inadequate and insensitive as Muertian in a flickering second?! "You... little--" Faryn muttered to Jillian, clearly annoyed. After unfastening his cloak He turned to the King. "Since you're so busy recepting your royal neighbor's son's escort, I suppose I'll have to interrupt and inform you that I'm Prince Faryn," he let the rather rude statement roll off his tongue bitterly, accenting the fact that he was the royal neighbor. He did not extend a hand of greeting. "I'm sorry to say I have the terrific displeasure of meeting Your Majesty, but my father did send me here to relay his highest regards to you," the young royal continued.
Turning his head to the side abruptly, he added softly, yet not lacking in disapproval, "And Jillian, I do hope Father has pity on you when he finds out you're so inflated that you place yourself before his own heir."
((Nolas. Are you still rping the King or is Mie? ))

(No, I don't mind if you play the king, Mie.)
"I've been hunting on the outskirts of the forest just beyond our Kingdom before, yes," Dax stated, wondering what the question was leading to. "But aside from that, my parents have wished to keep me within the palace walls.. Why do you ask?" His mother especially was most protective of him, often having guards follow him even when he stepped outside. Definitely one of his annoyances.

He shook his head, smiling slightly. "No... you're answering the wrong question. Have you ever been outside the Nation? - not just outside your own kingdom. I mean, leaving behind all the nations. There's the border of The Sea in the South and West and no one has ever tried to sail across it... what'd be the point? As far as the kingdoms are concerned, there is nothing outside the kingdoms. But to the North or East... there... couldn't there be something?" He shook his head. The other probably wouldn't be interested. He'd barely ever mentioned his idea and any time he had, it had been shunned. He sighed. The kingdoms simply couldn't keep on beleiving in this... nothingness. That couldn't be all there was... But the walls to the outside were so heavily guarded... He frowned, biting his lip as his thoughts took him to his journeys to the boarderlands.

Dax had to admit.. the idea definitely sounded intriguing, but his parents had forbidden him to leave the Kingdom. He couldn't imagine them thinking he wanted to leave the Nation as a whole. When he thought about going to such lengths, however, he felt so trapped in his current place. As if he were a fish in a small bowl while there was a whole ocean yet to be explored. In fact, that's almost how it actually was. This change in the Prince of Darkness, the talk of something beyond what they all knew, struck him as slightly odd. Like he was talking to someone else now other than the previously all-cocky prince. "I've never put a lot of thought into it," the blonde answered. "The idea isn't encouraged here, nor is it, I'm sure, anywhere else. I believe there's something else there, though. Surely us seven kingdoms can't be the only living beings inhabiting the planet, but.. What brings you to think of such forbidden thoughts?"

He smiled bitterly. "I haven't you noticed? I don't belong anywhere. This can't be where I meant to be. Which means there has to be a somewhere else." He spoke with such conviction that it was obvious he not only beleived himself, but felt a desperation of needing to beleive this. His eyes were downcast. "I... wouldn't expect you to understand. Everytime my people look at me... they think of the misfortune of having to one day live with a ruler corrupted as I am." He gaze returned to the other's, but it was now firy. "I will leave this place. No matter what it takes, I will find my way outside."
