Roux had been trying desperately not to laugh during the entire exchange, so he had been drinking his iced mocha instead. He gagged when Sebastien asked him to explain what catcher meant. So naive, but so adorable.
"I, um, like your friends," he said, stalling. How to explain the roles in a homosexual relationship? Uke and seme? Batter and pitcher? Catcher and batter? Would sports euphemisms make any sense to him? How about Receiver and dealer? Oi!
Smiling, he said, "It's just a euphemism."
Hey, he realized during his uncomfortable moment, he didn't ask about what I do anymore. Perfect, safe. But now I have to explain this. Crap.

Kaya had been listening, although a bit detached, to the conversation going on behind him. Not even looking over his shoulder at who he was answering, he spoke up."It's a euphemism alright. It's foreign language for "bottom". It's the receiver, the more submissive or feminine, in a male/male relationship." he said calmly. His hair shimmered oddly for a brief moment as he shook his head slightly. He knew from experience that that could be a bad thing at times. Being too submissive had been the problem with Krow.

After getting a near beating from a rather disagreeable snake, Chang had decided he wouldn't pester Vi for a change of pace. He'd find someone else to bother. Brushing a hand through charcoal colored hair, the cat grinned as yellow-brown eyes flickered down the snowy street. Huffing out a puff of mist as he let out a pleased sigh, the feline figured that he could easily enough approach someone in a cafe or sandwich shop, but coffee shops had a better variety of hot drinks, and so Chang braved the cold in search of a cafe. He found one not too far from the apartment complex, which was good because he was barely wearing anything that could be defined as suitable for the winter weather. He was wearing a sweater, some jeans, and a scarf but he had left his coat at his brother's apartment.

Waltzing into the cafe with a certain electric energy about him, the cat watched with interest as several girls chatted to his left. Wincing a bit as a chorus of high pitched giggles battered against his overly sensitive ears, Chang held up a hand to one ear before he looked for a seat. The coffee place was more crowded than usual, more than a few people having to huddle together in the corners of the shop because most of the tables were all full. Chang was never quite so forward, but because he had no where to sit he might as well make the best of the situation.

"Anyone sitting here?" He asked, pulling at the back of the chair seated across from the white-haired teen.

Kaya was slightly startled that anyone would speak to him here. Most people avoided him like the plague unless they had to interact with him. It was part of his reputation as a back alley poker dealer. "Uh...no, I don't think anyone's been sitting there. I haven' t been paying much attention to anyone in particular." he said calmly, though on the inside he was ready to take flight at a moment's notice if he had to. Something about this man screamed "predator". That had been his first instinct, run. He thought to give the man a chance though, not all predators were awful right?

Chang mumbled a quick 'thanks' before sitting down, keeping silent for several minutes as he fidgeted in his seat until he was facing the teen, fingers played against the tabletop. "So, you like card games, or something?" He asked, eying the younger male's attire with a sort of mock curiosity. "I've been very good at any game except maybe go fish," the cat said, lips twitching anxiously into a smirk. "I'm better at regular games, you know like truth or dare and all that stuff," he explained, yellow-brown eyes flickering from the table to the other's eyes.

"You might say that..." Kaya said quietly as he eyed the other man himself. He didn't seem to be too threatening, but still. One could never be too careful when it came to survival in this city. "I've never played truth or dare. I do prefer games of Poker though." the younger boy said as he shifted his green sweater slightly. Hopefully this guy had never heard of Royal. The teens mismatched amber and violet eyes locked onto the newcomer and watched him closely just to be safe.

This boy couldn't be human. Not only did he reek of bird, his eyes made it well-known that there was something not quite right about him. "Never played truth or dare? Now that's just a shame. I think one of the best parts is that you can play it anywhere," he said with a rather excited grin. Had Chang been in any other form, his cat ears would be perked forward in interest. It wasn't everyday he met someone so...unique, to put it nicely. "I know what I'd dare you to do, I'd dare you to find a damn coat. Aren't you cold at all in the get up, I mean seriously, it's winter."

"What do i look like, a sparrow?" Kaya asked with a light luagh. "I don't migrate so I would assume the cold wouldn't bother me much. After all, I'm still human aren't I?" he said conspiratorially. He was hoping that he could play it off as nothing big. "And besides that simple factor, cold is only a sensation, not a fact. We can feel cold by watching a television show in which the weather is cold but that doesn't mean it's real." he said wisely. H sounded like the wise old man for some reason.

"Just because the feeling of cold is relative doesn't mean it's not real," Chang said with a lop-sided grin. "And what do you mean you don't migrate? Most people don't, unless they're freakin' rich and can afford to go down to some second house somewhere southern." Why was this kid so painfully expressing his true nature, and in a public place too? Chang didn't want anyone overhearing them and assuming the cat was anything other than human.

"Eee~ weirdo.... do you always pick up this much random crap or are you just out of it today?" he asked as he took the box and set it in his shopping cart. "Alright, just the mistletoe left and we can go pick up Liao in the book section.... I'm gonna go to my apartment. You can drop me off or stay and help if you want...." he said rather carelessly. Knowing Wei, the man probably wouldn't be any help; he would either leave or stay for other motives -- motives which certainly wouldn't allow Ea to get any work done.
Wei's expression turned from hazy boredom to something darker as the snake leaned forward with a grin, gripping the end of the cart as he murmured smoothly, "Well, after last night can you really blame me? I mean, I'm surprised I'm even awake... which means I probably should just drop you off at your place. Wouldn't want to wear myself out completely, besides you have decorating to do... However, if your brother is a crazy b*****d he may have connections of some sort and wouldn't it look horrible if I was just lazying around at home and my beloved little pet," he spat out the word, "was working so hard on decorating without me?" He cocked his head comically to the side as he placed one hand on his hip.

((I think I said Ea's party was in two days but... eh. Whatev. I'm moving it up a day.))

The teen's brow arched at the word "pet," his black gaze slightly reproachful above a rather firmly set scowl. "You sure think a lot of yourself, eh? Well, just so you know, I do intend to get the decorating and everything done...." he said, glacing over at Wei for a moment. He knew that the man couldn't possibly be any form of help -- he didn't need any experience to know it since it was obvious just from Wei's personality -- but it would be nice to not have to be alone in the big, empty and rather cold apartment. "But, yeah, Penn is amasing in that department. I'll at least give him that," he said with a shrug, looking as if the matter had nothing to do with him though, quite obviously, it had everything to do with him.

"Well, whatever, I'm going to go get the mistletoe I ordered...." he said, pushing the cart off in that direction. He reached the plant department and got his order. The girl behind the counter giggled slightly as she handed him the plants and he grinned in return, causing her to blush slightly. Even though the ivory-haired teen was a bit short, he was still quite popular with both genders. THere was just something about him -- maybe pheramones or something -- that drew others to him. It was like he was constantly in mating season or something.

"Right, well, lets go pick up Liao!" he said, depositing the flowers in his cart before he wheeled it off.

As for Liao, he had almost completely lost track of time. The book was surprisingly good -- sure, some of his friends had told him to read it but he didn't think it would actually--

"Hey, Liao!" Ea said brightly, waving to the boy. THe kitten glanced up, rather surprised, a small flush on his cheeks. He glanced down at the book and was about to put it up when --"Hey, Liao, I can get that for you if you want." He nodded slowly, murmuring a small thanks, and held onto the book as he followed the others to the checkout.

"Hey... Wei... I need to go some place. Think you can drop me off there before you guys go to Ea's apartment....?" they boy asked, glancing up at the older male.

((He has to go to the music school. Feel free to time skip to Ea's apartment because I'm lazy/rushed.))

It really had been some time since he had driven -- and the first time that he had ever driven Haro anywhere. He didn't know if the boy would be scared or what since he wasn't sure how often the boy had been driven or if being in the car would bring up memories of Wei or something unfortunate, but... but he couldn't just force himself or the boy to walk through the snow and the cold all the way into the city main, or at the very least to a bus or train station to get there. Besides, wasn't he being too paranoid? Just because he hadn't taken Haro in the car before didn't mean the boy had experienced any sort of trauma there or that Haro would be scared or... something. He really did worry too much, didn't he?

And so they were off, Shin being extra careful because of the ice and all. He was a very good, steady, and cautious driver -- always attentive because, especially in winter when the roads were slick with ice and snow, the smallest of things could cause an accident. He didn't want himself or the boy to get hurt.

At last he parked the car, unbuckled his seatbelt, and got out. They were at a pet shop -- Shin hadn't discriminated since he really didn't know any of them at all well. Once Haro had gotten out, he locked the doors. Smiling, he offered the boy his hand as they stepped inside, a blast of warm air enveloping as they moved out of the cold.

Haro was so excited that he almost didn't notice Shin's outstretched hand as the little bird fumbled to get to the pet shop. At the last second, the bright eyed teen took the tiger's hand with a smile as the two walked towards the pet shop. Once inside, Haro looked right and then left and then right again before spotting the cash register. Thankfully, this wasn't the same pet shop he had lived at for a little while, it would make him a little sad if he ended up back there again. He'd gone back once and that was long enough...

Rummaging through his pocket, Haro pulled out the free fish card, holding it against the light before staring at for a few seconds. He couldn't believe he could actually get a real pet. so maybe he would've liked having something he could actually hold, like a puppy or something, around better, but this was fine because fish easier to take care of. You didn't have to teach them anything and all you really needed to do was make sure they're bowl stayed clean and that they were fed. As Haro made his way over towards the rows of fish tanks, the little bird stopped as he heard a swift sort of call from the cage next to him. Blinking, the teen turned, his expression falling as he realized just what was caged up. There were several parrots in the cage, some preening, some eating, but one was against the side of the cage and Haro figured that was the one who had called him. Was this bird like him? Were they a bird but something else, too? Shin had said only normal pets, so Haro could only turn around and head back towards the fish with a sigh.

Wei glared as the overly giddy girl prepared Ea's order. Stupid little b***h. He hated that sort of type, the kind of girl that giggled and bubbled over with heaping amounts of nervousness and cliche teen spirit. Although he usually found himself attracted to the the male end of the spectrum, an independent woman could also suit his fancy. The dumb little teenagers grated on his nerves heavily, though. Gritting his teeth, the snake watched with a fierce expression as the mistletoe was handed in a box to the mongoose. Yeah, that's right you little ********, I'm the one who-- Wei stopped his mental banter. When the hell had he gotten so damn possessive? So he was ******** the guy on the side, that didn't mean anything.

Wei dismissed the situation as he traipsed after Ea throughout the store first finding Liao, and second when they took everything to be paid for. Once the car was loaded up and the kitten was dropped off at his music lessons, Wei took the time to turn towards the white-haired teen as he parked in front of the teen's apartment. "Are you just going to spend the night here?" He questioned, jade eyes flickering between the time and Ea's face.

"I probably could do that if i wanted. I've just never cared much for travel. I get motion sickness in anything other than planes, but I don't like the thought of being in a massive hunk of metal in the sky." Kaya said calmly, though he did look a little green around the gills, so to speak, at the mention of motion sickness.

He stood up slowly after a moment or two, reaching into the right hand pocket of his jeans, and pulling out a deck of playing cards. He sat back down and opened the new box, taking out the cards and removing the jokers and rule cards. "DAA-ANNYY!" he called to the counter afterwards, still shuffling as he did so. A young-ish guy ran over after a moment or two. The barely eighteen year old looked a little over eager to be there. "What can I do for Kaya?" he asked cheerfully. "Let me borrow your lighter for a sec, k." Kaya said with a grin, holding his hand over his shoulder, palm up. Danny fumbled in his apron pocket for a moment before producing a purple butane lighter, zippo style, from it and placing it in Kaya's hand.

Kaya flipped it open and held the four cards in his hand, flicking the lighter to life. Within moments, the cards were burning in the ashtray and Danny had his lighter back. "Thanks hon. You better get back to work no so you don't get in trouble for chatting too much, k." Kaya said cheerfully as he shood Danny back to work. Once Danny was gone, Kaya took to laying cards on the table, face down.

Of course, Ea didn't particularly like that sort of girl, either. He was just a general flirt with anyone who smiled at him -- whether the mongoose was actually interested or not. And he'd probably kiss just about anybody, as well, though he only did more for those who really perked his interest.....

They reached his apartment relatively quickly. Liao had vanished off to the music school to go over his pieces, leaving the two older males alone in the car. Black eyes glanced from the other, to his apartment, to the time, and then back over to Wei. He shrugged. "I might. Setting up shouldn't take too long, but sometimes I get before-party crashers.... Anyway, if you want me out of your hair I can stay here....." the teen said rather lazilly, one pale hand raising to brush up through his own hair. Truth be told, he always rather looked forward to the night time -- even if it meant he didn't get as much sleep as he usually liked to get. But Wei might want a break, right? Well... maybe. Ea couldn't exactly picture that, though, since Wei seemed just about as addicted as anybody (including Ea) could be.

"Anyway, about the party, feel free to invite some people over, 'kay? Everyone always does and, I mean, more is better, right?" He had only just remembered that he had forgotten to tell Wei that. "Only, just don't invite that stupid cat, okay?" the teen muttered, eyes narrowing slightly as his mind returned to the scene earlier that day. He really didn't want Wei to bring someone who would be hanging over him all throughout the party..... Ea really was a possessive little b*****d, wasn't he? Well... it wasn't as if he minded.
