"That's not a very hard dream, I don't see why you can't see your father when you want to. I know your family may not like it but if it's your dream then you'll figure something out. You're always welcome at the castle, I'm sure Red could meet you there," he murmured, appearing slightly distracted, leaving his notes at his bedside as he walked over towards the window, leaning against the sill. "I have to look so far into the future," he started slowly, "I don't have much to live for right now so I live for that," he explained, keeping his eyes cast outwards, towards the town below.

((Redesigned Prince of Storms. ))Alti nodded slowly, a small smile forming slowly on his lips, despite the feeling that had been coursing through his being. "You mean... once I'm allowed back into the Fire Kingdom, don't you?" he murmured, a small grin on his lips. He tilted his head sideways so he could peer at Haar from above his pale arm. "You'll get there eventually... to where you want...." he said, his tone rather... comforting and soft. It was... strange -- and Alti could feel the strangness of it, but it was also... nice. It felt nice to be soft, to admit that he had faults and weaknesses and feelings that weren't cold and bitter. It felt... warm.((When did Alti become such a sap? *shot* Ah well... I'm sure there shall be some sort of confruntation to bring out his usual stubborn dischord. 8D;; ))

[[He looks like the love child of Mello and Near. rofl ]]
Haar looked back at Alti, "I already told you you weren't banished from our country. Ruehl has no authority whatsoever to be making those claims. He's not king yet, and even if he was exile is a lot more complicated than people think," he said, with a very cross expression to his features. It still aggravated him that Ruehl had banned the teen for such frivolous reasons.
"We'll see, even if I do live, I'm not really convinced it'll ever happen. I don't think there's anyone who'd have me," he murmured with a quirky grin, moving away from the window.
[[Okay, I need some plot action before this turns gay.]]

((Hmmm, I guess you're right! Except Nia has white hair.... and the little princy poo has a mole thing under his eye. 8D;;; ))
Alti nodded slowly -- Haar's words were... reassuring, but the boy couldn't help from worrying that maybe... the commander was wrong. After all, Ruehl had seemed quite... adamant. And he didn't seem to at all like Alti -- even from before the dark-haired teen's rudeness.
At the other's last words, though, a small grin slipped onto the teen's lips. "Mmm, dunno. Maybe that little blond boy would quit with you... he seems pretty devoted, after all," he said, tilting his head up more, a rather mischevious expression on his features.
He stretched out his legs in front of himself, then, his arms loosening. He felt so... stiff from having sat still for so long. "Nnnn... hey, Haar, let's go out somewhere... I'm sick of being stuck inside and I don't want to go alone...." he said, leaning back on his elbows after finishing his small bit of stretching.

"Peyton? God, I wouldn't want to be shacked up for the rest of my life with him. I love the kid but he's quite a handful," Haar said with a full-out laugh, very much amused at the idea. He couldn't really say no to Alti, besides even if he should he didn't want to, he had fulfilled his duty for the day, he'd let other people do their own jobs for a change.
After all, he couldn't really let Alti roam the streets by himself. What kind of escort would that make him? A very irresponsible one, that's what. Casting a wary glance at his bed, the young man hurried out the door. It would be nice to actually enjoy the festival for once.

Alti slipped rather stiffly off the bed, stretching for a scant moment before he realised that Haar had already hurried away. Surprised somewhat by the other's speed, Alti hurried after him, making sure to lock the door. As the cool evening air his face, the teen smiled. It felt so much better out in the open.... Of course, though, the air wasn't really cool -- just colder than it was during the day time. And the sky was still quite bright for the time -- it was no where near setting as of yet.
The dark-haired teen glanced around himself, his golden eyes met with the sight of many, many people... so... so many people. It was so overly crowded, and yet still very enjoyable. "Hey, Haar, what do you want to see first?" he asked, his voice and expression filled with newly reinstated excitement.

Haar glanced back with a more than mischievous grin. Taking the boy's hand, the soldier spun him around, "You smiling is enough for--" He stopped suddenly, looking over the smaller male's head at an array of merchandise. "Actually I really need to go shopping for Novias now that I think about it," he said, looking almost troubled as he fished through his pockets. He didn't really have much... Ceris wouldn't care if he just gave him a a hug and...Xel would understand...maybe. It was Peyton he was worried about.

Alti stumbled slightly as Haar, quite out of the blue, spun his around by means of grabbing the younger teen's pale hand. "--Ack, Haar, what are you doing?!" he protested, floundering slightly with his free hand to keep his ballance. He had been about to ask just what his smile was enough for when the other's next words, fortunately for Haar, distracted the poor, befuddled, and slightly dizzy teen. "Haar, Haar, what's 'Novias'?" Alti asked curiously, nudging his way through the crowd to join the older male by the booth. He glanced curiously from the commander and down to the array of items for sale, watching as the older male dug through his pockets. "Mother's going to pay you, you know," Alti stated bluntly. "So if you want something, I can lend you some money and you can pay me back when she pays you," he said. It was quite a tight fit through the crowd and he couldn't really get a good look at the other's face -- he had to tilt his head up and slightly to the side to do so, which wasn't exactl comfortable, but it was better than getting smushed and squeezed even more than he was already.

"Half fire and you don't even know what Novias is," he muttered, looking down with a teasing grin. "Eh, it's just a holiday, usually falls at the start of the winter festival, but it was a day late this year," he explained, "People just give gifts and...partake in some very strange traditions," he murmured with a nervous sort of laugh.

"But I've only been to the Fire Kingdom once!" Alti protested. He wasn't used to being teased, and therefor didn't know how to recogize it. "And you know that Mother -- that Allora -- never really taught me anything about the Fire Kingdom...." he muttured, a small pout forming on his lips. He really hadn't been joked around with much in his life -- apart from what Allora did, but he had learned to disreguard that.
"Mmm... we have one sort of like that in the Storms Kingdom called Aimeria -- 'cept it's in the dead center of winter, on the coldest day of the year... It's supposed to be a celebration of life and death -- the time when everything is at its weakest, coldest state... so that everything is dead, or nearly, but also on the path to regrowth since it can't get any worse...." he mused slowly. "But really, people just spend the whole week goofing off... the first four days are usually some form of fasting and the last three are basically shows of incredible gluttony," he said with a small grin. "The last of the fasting days, and the middle of the week, is the actual day of Aimerias...." he explained slowly.
((Yey for weirdo hollidays.))

Ruffling the teen's hair with a laugh, Haar peered at an intricately crafted dagger. If only he had enough money to buy it for Peyton. He was always breaking his fine weaponry, he would never turn down a dagger or dart if it was well-made. "I was just kidding, Alti, I'm fully aware you know nothing about Novias," he murmured, slightly distracted by the blade's price.
"Interesting, we just celebrate the coldest season for some reason. I really don't know why, we must've just wanted an excuse to party or something," he said with a rather happy expression as he moved to the next booth, eager to find something. "Either that or people had to have a holiday in order to get any action. I think it might've started as a fertility ritual and it's been incorporated into the holiday, but you have to go around kissing everyone. It's really...embarrassing to say the least."

Alti scowled slightly as Haar made sure that the teen's hair was thuroughly mussed up, shifting away from the older male as best he could, though it was pretty much impossible with the density of the crowd. He nodded at the other's explanation. "Sounds yucky," he muttered after several moments. "I know if Mother was celebrating that my lips would be bruised and bloodied by the time she had finished presenting me with suitors...." he said, his scowl increasing greatly. He was now quite greatful that, at least in some reguards, that Allora hardly ever told Alti anything of Fire culture. If she had, he would have likely been forced to kiss quite a few men come every Novias.
"During Aimeria, everyone just.. well, there's the initial fasting, though not many people follow that any more, but mostly people just use the holliday as an excuse to goof off, pig out and get drunk.... There are lots of decorations and music and dancing, though, and that is really nice..."

[[Haar= gonk ]]
"That's not a disturbing mental image at all," Haar said aloud while he examined several carved hanging features. There were little wooden leaves and flowers and wind chimes... The chimes sounded actually rather peaceful but anything wood would be a hazard so it was on to the next booth. "And it's not really... it's only couples that kiss like that actually, for everyone else it's just on the cheek so your lips would've been fine," he explained, his expression falling as he realized he wouldn't be able to find anything easily for Peyton.
"Oi, you're closer to Peyton's age, what would you like?" He asked, glancing down at the teen who looked rather uncomfortable in the large crowd. Haar knew Alti wouldn't know how to help him, but he might as well pretend he needed his advice in order to find out what he should get the storms native.

Alti followed after Haar, pausing and looking along the lines he had seen Haar glancing at, all the while a small idea beginning to brew in his mind. Maybe he should... get something for Haar. He was half Fire, after all... and he really wanted to... appologize for just how much of a jerk he had been before.... He wanted to make that up to his friend. It would be a... nice gesture, he thought. Maybe. Kind of embarrassing, though.
He glanced up as Haar spoke to him and shrugged, a sligtly sheepish smile forming on his lips. "Ehh... I don't really know Peyton, I mean... I think we're pretty different. He doesn't seem like someone who would share many of my interests, but... I guess, if it's all helpful, a... book might be nice. Mother only ever gives me boring ones with flowery crap in them... and I'd like to research more Fire magic so I can... mix it more, you know? It's a bit hard to just improvize my magic when I know practically nothing of my other half...." he said slowly. "But I don't think that will help you get something for Peyton, since he's a Fire native. I mean, he already knows Fire magic. So... I don't know.... like maybe a good pair of boots or something useful," he said with a small shrug. He didn't know much of anything about what Peyton or, really, any teen would want, apart from himself. "But, you know, with the way he fawns over you, he'd probably like anything you got him," he added with a small, sly grin.

"I think his crush might finally work in my favor," Haar murmured in astonishment, glancing down at Alti with a grin. So the teen wanted to learn more about fire magic, eh? Since he was broke as no other and couldn't really afford anything for Alti the least he could do was teach him a little of what he knew. He had promised so very long ago to give him a few sword pointers and that had not gone well. It really hadn't been his fault though what with the commotion of being under the care of Allora for several weeks...
Grabbing the teen's wrist, Haar dragged through the crowd of people amassed around the merchant area. With a smug expression, Haar mused that Alti would now know how annoying it was being dragged around. "I want to show you something~" Okay, so he really didn't want to show him anything, he just wanted to get to a more secluded area.
