From what I know of Sage mode, it's overpowered anyways. It honestly doesn't even seem to have much to do with the summons. They're just the only ones that know how to access it, so they're the only ones that can teach it.

But considering the entire basis of sage mode is that it gives you the ability to gather chakra from thin air, chakra which is more potent than normal chakra by several degrees, and apparently also turns you into a super sensor... I don't like it. It's just another gimmick thrown into the manga to give Naruto a way to compete with Mangekyou.

Even though I know you guys wouldn't allow it I was thinking the sage mode for the birds would basically be Phoenix mode. Like my character would be constantly healing along with performing fire jutsu without hand seals.

I don't think any sort of sage mode would be affixed with any element. In addition to sage chakra, I think the benefit would be taking on the traits of your animal. For instance, the bird sage might grow wings. But becoming a phoenix? Not so much. While a phoenix is a bird, remember that the birds in your contract actually exist.

If you have any more sage ideas, by all means PM me. Technically I'm in charge of sage mode, but its just such a frivolous thing compared to what actually needs my attention, so I haven't done much work on it.

No, not really. We've had people take on demons and then go completely inactive several times, so it's pretty much to ensure the person is going to stay interested before giving them the thing, so we don't have to go through the hassle of reclaiming it again.

Luckily with those you can add them after character creation by way of, well, having it sealed, so you can RP the character without it. The first month is also so we can review your regular posts instead of just the sample to ensure consistent skill. I am utterly convinced some of our old demon hosts had their friends write their samples for them.

Well in the bloodline I'm creating, the members chakra is imbued with natural energy but the only benefits directly gained from that is hard to detect chakra signatures and minor natur/life attunement.

Of course, they can't gather natural energy and have no elemental affinity so its more than balanced out.

Maybe you could allow Sage Mode to just enhance the strength of summoning jutsu and summons rather than enhance every ninja ability they have?

You know the worst thing about "Arrow to the knee" jokes? I started a Skyrim playthrough as an archer recently. Probably just a few hours put into the game, at least 50% of my kills have been shots to the knee. (25% of the rest were in other bizarre places, like a deer's hoof.)

Either Skyrim has no critical zone checks, or it's all a big joke and the knee is a critical hit. (Or one of the mods I was running decided to play that joke...)

Random other archery based fact... You can actually train your archery by shooting the Jarl of Whiterun in the head. He'll complain every time, but he'll never do anything about it, and you can reclaim your arrows by pickpocketing him. (Doesn't have to be the head really. It's just where most people will aim. Could aim for his knee if you wanted.)

My problem with that would be that if I made the character and got denied the demon then I'd have a character that is made for the sangi demon without the demon. So could I make a sample and have it judged and go through a probationary period for that first month?

What would the differences in design be between a character with, and a character without, Sanbi? I don't think I've ever seen you RP so I'm not going to make any assumptions, but if you don't believe you would qualify, at least enough to take that risk, you probably won't.

That said, you can post a sample in the application thread at any time, but we won't approve it until we've seen you in RP for a while.

Well up to this point I've had three characters in mind. One of them doesn't work because he's a taijutsu specialist and none of the guilds taijutsu style's would fit his fighting style and I'm not very good at the custom styles/bloodlines. Another is a bit of a pacifist and a ninjutsu specialist, meant to fit with Sanbi's defensive properties and what not. The third is a puppeteer with a pretty unique skill set so I'd reather not share it here, but I guess I can just make the puppeteer for now and maybe go for sanbi with a second character or something.
And I'm pretty confident in my ability, I just know that you mods are smart people and would assume you look for a lot in a demon.

Puppeteer might not be a great idea, since we're considering removing the class entirely and moving the techniques to universal.

And yeah, we do like to hold powers like that to a higher level than most other things. That's the reason for the trial periods and stuff.
PostPosted: Tue Jan 22, 2013 10:25 pm

I'll deal with that when the time comes.
Although I'd like to know if instead of kunai or shuriken I could have senbon?

Yeah. Just have to buy them in game, or choose them on creation. The slots given are just to show how to do it up. Don't get too excessive though, or Greg will make you lower the numbers or remove stuff.

I probably won't have very many since I probably won't use them all too often.
