"Sure." The entered the aisle and Toby made a broad gesture with both arms. This was the land of Super Soakers and Friends. Go ahead and play, my selkie friend.
"Go ahead and choose! If we're going to get three, maybe not the really big ones."

Well, they definitely needed three. It wouldn't be nearly as fun without Dari. So not the really big ones. The selkie studied a few of them, read the backs, mined pumping, shook her head. Hm. Which was the best one? Maia picked up a good size one and offered it to Toby. "I like this one, it says it holds a lot of water. That way I can attack you guys better." She handed Toby another one; the same model in another color, and then another.

"Yeah, these look good." Toby took one and turned it over in his hands. Not an overly-expensive model, but not some ten-cent pistol either.
...ten cents. Hah. Oh, economy, how you'd mutated.
"Alright, so where do you want to look for seals?" He tucked one gun under his arm, the other under his other, and the third in his hands.
"There might be plastic ones over with the figures, or we can look in the stuffed stuff... uh. We might just want to wander."

"Let's go look at the stuffed animals," Maia said, giving Toby a smile. She looked for the the signs over the aisles and pointed. "That aisle?" She pointed. "Then we'll look at the figurines. And someday, I'll have a collection of seals!"

Some people collected action figures. Some chose pigs. This selkie wanted seals. Of course. He should have known. It wasn't his life. She could do whatever she wanted to his guest room while she was there. Well. Almost whatever.
"You might have more luck online if you're looking for, like... adult seals. Or--" No. Not the zoo. Maia would cry at the zoo. "--the catalogs that come out sometimes."

"I don't care what kind of seal," Maia gave Toby a smile. "Any would do. And I think By the time I have three or four my collection will be complete. Or maybe five... I've only collected shells before." And while shells were pretty, they started to stink if not cleaned properly.

Huh. That was a rather conservative collection. Again, though, whatever she wanted! "Well, you can collect as many as you find. I mean, there's a level where you cross into 'hoarder' but-- oh, there's one!" He wandered over and stuck a finger into a seal finger puppet, and it was even grey and not white and fluffy.
"Probably not what you're looking for, but it's cute." He booped Maia's nose with its muzzle.

"We should find something to do together," Maia suggested. A hobby of some kind; but they had that already, didn't they? With cooking? She watched him wander over and put on a finger puppet. She grinned at him. "It is cute," she agreed. She'd been looking for something bigger; but she went over and slipped on a seal finger puppet and had hers boop Toby's back. "They're friends," she informed him. "Like us. Lets get them both."

Toby's smile brightened. It would be safe to say he had completely forgotten what day it was and the significance thereof.
"Oh, I don't need one," he assured Maia. He couldn't really get his off without her help, though. His hands were pretty full.

"Yes you do," Maia insisted. She helped him take the seal off his finger and carried them both as they walked down the aisle. "That way, you'll have a seal too." It seemed operation distract Toby had been a success!
"Ooh!" There was a big, fluffy white seal, round almost like a ball. Maia picked it up. It was larger than her head and she hid behind it. "It's huge! Too big, I think. Help me find a smaller one?"

"Too big?" He hadn't been expecting that! It sure was cute, though. He smiled and nodded, continuing down the aisle of sometimes randomly-placed plushes. He did find a smaller one, about 7 inches long, white and relatively realistic with black beady eyes.
"What about this one?"

"Too big," Maia repeated, nodding. It was too big for her to take into bed and snuggle. It'd end up rolling off the bed. She immediately took the one Toby offered and hugged it. "This one is perfect," she said.

Alright, too big. The one he had chosen wasn't even particularly fluffy. Maybe she wanted it for display? Displaying a plush toy wasn't the weirdest thing he had ever heard, not by far. "Good," he said with a smile, "I'm glad."

"Do you think this will be good for sleeping with?" Maia asked. Was it big enough? The first one had been too big, but this one seemed like it would be smashed under her. And it wasn't fluffy.
Toby's wolf form was huge and furry and warm; maybe she could find one just as good.

"Mm, I don't think so..." Toby admitted, looking around the plushies again. Hmm... "How about this one?" A little more than twice the size, and soft and fluffy. He held it up for Maia.
