"Satire, mostly. Fantasy satire. He's a bit silly, but fantastic."

She took a slow sip of wine, savoring the flavor.

"Right, well enjoy your book-talk," Zach got to his feet and stretched. "I'm exhausted and there's still a war going on. Just kinda hope that the recruiters will leave me be tomorrow."

He bowed to Emma and gave Kaokie a salute before heading up the stairs to the room he rented out.

Spent my days with a woman unkind,
Smoked my stuff and drank all my wine.
Made up my mind to make a new start,
Going to california with an aching in my heart.

"Good night."

She felt a little more comfortable with Zach to be gone, admittedly. Kaok didn't care for being around people who changed so suddenly, even if they were perfectly nice people most of the time.

"Fantasy satire? I admit I haven't heard of books like that."

"Well...he's similar to Douglas Adams, but a different genre. Same style, though."

Emma paused for a moment.

"But I digress. What about you?"

"I've been making an attempt to read Tolkien, but I've found the vocabulary is a bit strange to me. I've kept a dictionary nearby, but I'm not sure I've ever heard anyone use some of those words..."

For instance, this halfling creature that was so talked about. Kaok's mind drew a blank thinking of what it could be.

Seven sipped his drink in the darkest shadows of his tavern. It was tasteless in his dry mouth and he was restless. Much of the evening he'd spent in his temporary quarters trying to talk himself into going down the short flight of stairs. He'd used his 'express' speed to retrieve his beverage and disappear into the shadows silently. Passing very near Kaokie and Lady Emma, but neither seemed to note his presence by anything visually, at least.
It was strange how things seemed to be going so well for him at first, when actually they were just misleading him into a false sense of confidence.
Something was arise in the air, yet too indistinct to identify.

The Imperator strolled into the tavern for some coffee. Though his campaign had given BOO the upper hand, the followers of SIN seemed to be turning it around. BOO's advancement seems like it just halted and stop moving forward.

Remus had been putting his Gaian Century to all sorts of tasks to try and keep the war effort going. Techno Legion held the line, their beam rifles disintegrating Sentinel's fanatics. The rumbling Roman tanks could be heard outside as they traveled to the front lines.

Remus ordered some coffee took a drink, liking the warmth it brought, soothing his artificial nerves.

Shadow whirled in a strange way, pieces of shade detaching from the greater whole and forming hair, eyes, garments, and limbs. Emma stepped out, the magic of Samhain around her.

She was more powerful than she had been in a long time, all because of the thinning of the veil.

Remus didn't get any static this time. Research into shielding himself from the ancient arts had paid off. However, Techno Legions was in need of an upgrade as well.

Remus nodded to Emma. "So how are things on your side?" he asked, pulling out a chair for her.

"I haven't been paying as much attention as I should."

She sat down, smiling at him.

There was something different in her posture.

Remus shrugged. "It's been a bit of a seesaw war. One minute, Sentinel's forces are being pushed back, the next minute the Overseer's forces are. This has to be the weirdest war I've ever fought in."

The Imperator took note of Emma's good mood. "You seem happy today. Or is it just Sentinel's promise of power going to your head?"
PostPosted: Fri Oct 30, 2009 1:33 pm

"If I desire power it is well within my grasp." All she had to do was concentrate.

"But the battle is a good deal of fun. Makes me feel like taking a country again."

"Heh heh. This big war is just a game to you, isn't it? You don't even care who wins."

Remus took a sip of his coffee.

"I wouldn't either, but Kaok cares deeply about her home world and I don't want it to be taken from her."
PostPosted: Fri Oct 30, 2009 1:46 pm

"I can understand that."

She ordered a green tea, knowing that alcohol in her system would lead to some very bad things.

"And it is a game of sorts, is it not?"

"From what I heard, some Halloween spirit let Sentinel loose so that he could sit back and watch the chaos unfold. So yes, it is a bit of a game."

Remus wrapped his hands around the coffee cup to warm them up.

"A very violent destructive game, but a game nonetheless."
