you'd think the target market for that kind of movie is the die-hard fans who know the book backwards and forwards - they're the ones who will go see it more than once, they're the ones who will create buzz, bla bla bla. but doing a hatchet job on the story seems like they're gearing it more to people like me, who read the book once, years ago, and can't really remember if anyone had a fight in a wheat field or not.

I lol that I get into a class, Social Problems and Cultural Diversity, as I begin experiencing all the racism stuff...

70% of white Americans think Racism is "old news" and is not a problem.

Yet 20% are still overtly racist (don't choose to hide it), and it's hard to guess how much covert goes on.

But the research shows...

White Man with a Felony with the same qualifications as a
black man...

White man is more likely to get called back for a job.

Just stuff like that.

Stuff previously thought to be "genetic" (Black people are more susceptible to this and that due to DNA)... is... bogus.

It's all stress related.

On brighter side of things,

Life is going well, and no one has shot me yet.

The original story line does sound interesting from the book (I didn't know there was a book about it!) But I liked the fact that I didn't know about it so that I could enjoy it. I like the lack of a love triangle. I suppose it would have made it....generic. But I can't bash anything I haven't read so. *shrug* I thought the movie and the characters were very, very cute and it's hard to convince me otherwise. I usually don't like movies to follow the book completely either since I just read the book. As long as the movie stays within the confines of the book's limits and props, do I really need to see the same thing I just read? Hmmm dunno.

All those elements could have been done with a compatible segue to go along with all that but it didn't. I'm such a stickler for transitions nowadays. srsly. Do you feel like the HP 7 book had good segues? They felt really bad to me and I think one New York Times columnist called it deux es machina (which was the only thing I agree on in that article. Everything else went off topic.) But I agree. J. K. Rowling felt like she was just pushing Harry to go to certain places rather than having a good reason to go ("oh but coincidentally!!" *enter sentence here*)

Airis: School being school. Have you asked the teacher for sources for your material? Believe me a LOT of them just shout about while young minds absorb and laugh it up. :/ Then you have to verify that the source is credible. One of the reasons I don't like school.

But you'll find some teachers who are very good at what they do. Even then you have to question everything. Don't take things at face value.

Some African Americans actually do believe that they are more predisposed to getting a disease, and if you ever read studies (such as diabetes, high blood pressure or heart disease etc) same thing. This coming from my Black History teacher who was also bias. (It's all because a small African village back in who-knows-when rationed salt for some reason and that's why we have heart disease in the Black community...)

Must....not....implode.

But some could be bogus. I would say there is a good percentage that would be. Find out who paid them... :/ hehe

Man, am I being anymore of a cynic? XD I'm never a cynic! <3

I'm not pissed they made cuts or additions to HBP. That would be silly. Obviously they couldn't put every tiny detail in.

I'm pissed about what was cut and how they added what they added. Things that were essential to the plot were cut and changed. Harry hiding that book himself and marking the spot in the Room of Requirement with the bust and old crown being changed to a romance scene of Ginny and him where she hides the book for him completely takes out that dawning realization that he knew where the horcrux (The Lost Diadem of Ravenclaw) was before he even knew it was a horcrux. How's he supposed to know where to look for it now?

And what about Dumbledore's wand being on his desk after he dies...instead of buried with him? I know they cut out the funeral scene, but I mean...come on. Why would they change that?

And the part in the middle where Bellatrix sets fire to The Burrow seemed so out of place and seriously screwed up the flow of the movie. The fact that it didn't happen in the books doesn't bother me nearly as much as the fact that it was done so poorly.

I have other gripes with changes that were made, but these were major.

Okay, I'm officially fed up! Out of the multiple accounts i have on gaia this one gets phished the most. I think we hit record highs...or lows depending on how you look at it. I think I'm going to clear this account. I have a feeling the phishing has to do with my sign up date (2003) and no matter how I try to stay under the radar these hacker creeps always seem to find me!!!!

I reported it to Mods, but they haven't responded...not surprised...what would you do in a situation like this? I already changed my password and the next step is complete abandonment. I'll be using Mule of Pixiedevil for the next week and see how that works.

Because no other culture ever rationed salt. EVER. rolleyes People will argue stress for anything. When I did a paper on obesity, I actually came across some sources that said all the health risks associated with being a fatass were due to the stress of prejudice. All because some large women in some itty bitty tribe somewhere in the islands were healthy and that culture lauded large women. I'm betting those women got a hell of a lot more exercise that their chunky American counterparts and were just predisposed to being chubby. I don't think they ever said how much they weighed either, so what exactly was "overweight'?

But yeah. Tell me that disorders like sickle cell anemia and lupus have no genetic component. I dare ya.

Haha I know. It's not as if they used salt to keep meat from going bad or anything. Nooo

There are SO MANY obesity lies that it gets tiresome. My aunt is overweight (obese? I can't tell. She's big up top and little on the bottom) and her daughter is obese (though her mother says "overweight"). My aunt was saying the most RIDICULOUS things on our vacation. Like, "Oh I have a big back, not big boobs!" What? And of course she doesn't believe she'll ever be as skinny as my cousin even though she was skinny when she was in high school.

Seriously, look in cupboard. It's like candyland in there. Oh, I wonder why you're fat.... That's strange.

She even went so far as to say that she can only drink Dasani because the chemicals in other water bottles make her retain water. My cousin and I looked at her like she was crazy. I've never heard that before! So we made fun of her forever after that. "Oh no! I didn't drink Dasani! We're gonna have lots of stops on the way home!"

Stop eating so much food! arg

Will I get an option to revert to the old menu?
We considered this option, but truth be told, it's actually pretty complex from a coding perspective, not to mention expensive, to maintain both versions of the site navigation menus. Every time we make a change in the future, we would need to update both versions of the menus. This is not ideal, and you'll probably want us working on something else of more value anyway.

Gee, I said that when I heard you were going to be renovating destroying the site nav, but you still did it! stressed

I thought of House too when she said that. haha

Site navigation is fine with me. OMG....I can click on a guild link and all the threads will appear like that. eek WOW *is dazzled*

Site navigation is ehhhh with me. Kinda bulky with general options rather than specific ones (to garner toward new users perhaps) but it's fine, I s'pose.

When I got home from work tonight there was an ambulance in front of the house. When I tried to go in, a cop stopped em and told me it would be a bit 'before they were done' and that they'd let me know when I could go in.

My roommates got into a fight again. (Male and female.) He was outside flipping out rather loudly that someone had called the cops. She was in the ambulance, though from what I saw, it looked like only her wrist/hand was injured.

They were asking him about the 'broken windows' and I heard someone mention 'that's when he/she had the knife'.

When I was finally allowed in, I went straight to the basement, where my room is. Everything downstairs is fine, but as I passed the kitchen at the top of the stairs, it looked trashed. Chairs, pans, dishes, half cooked food... all over the place.

Yes, they pay their rent. Thing is? This is MY ******** HOME!! User Image I've lived here for 12 goddamn years. My grandmother was here ever since my grandfather helped build the damn house in the 50's-ish. When she passed away, my mother got the house. Now that she's moved, I (and roommates, to help supplement the cost) rent FROM HER! So I don't care who the ******** you think you are, you do NOT. ********. WITH. MY. HOUSE!

So now, apparently he says they'll be out within the week. Which means I'll have to cover the entire rent, which I cannot afford, and thus will have to be moving somewhere cheap as well. This is my goddamn HOME! User Image<******** this! ******** stupid people and their goddamn relationship bullshit. Assholes, I swear. User Image ********>

Awh, good luck, Xani. =( I hope you can find some decent roommates or something. Sounds like almost anyone would be better than those two.

Aggggh, my Sims are being all cuddly and cute with each other and it makes me want my boy here, even though he was here last night/this morning. I don't know how I'm going to survive the week I'm in Washington. ._.
